Don't complain about that, it's always deliciously amusing.
Personally 'backhanded celebration of America' is one of my favorite musical genres
It's even worse with Woody Guthrie's This Land is Your Land. It's somehow understood as some sort of meek patriotic song, even though really it's about exactly what it says on the tin — Woody was a Communist.
A lot of folk songs from the 30's and 40's is like that.
Two of Guthrie's friends, Pete Seeger and Lee Hays, also wrote a lot of left-inspired songs like "If I Had a Hammer".
Compile me a list. Very curious non-American here. I've heard Bruce Springsteen but I wanna hear some more.
Yeah, even if one misses the point of the lyrics they're incredibly depressing taken at face value anyways.
Of course they only play the Wooah oh, part and not the part which says "Zombie nation".
Neil Youngs "Rocki'n in the free world"
Bugers wave american flags and rock out to it when it's literally a song about how shit america is.
Nazism, and fascism, themselves, are all about taking a geniune idea and degenerating it to suit bourgie needs.
Modern feminism is another example.
What did you expect?
They'll even try to make leftypol's memes theirs.
They'll tell you Orwell was a conservative and Stirner is the same as Ayyyn Rantlmao.
It's in the core of Capitalism it turn everything into a rotten zombie of it's previous self.
This.
Anytime I see a porky or classcuck rocking out to it, my mind is boggled. I don't think they get the underlying sarcasm of the song. It's even worse when they sing along.
It would be almost impossible to do a better job deconstructing American ideology and de-classcuck images of American reality without going full Zizek in front of the normies.
Video is cool too btw

Remember when Wrangler Jeans used "Fortunate Son" in a commercial, and very pointedly only used the first two lines?
I've seen people unironically say that Rammstein's "America" is supposed to be pro US

Ad executives and politicians fall for this a lot. A few of my favorites.

What part of "this is not a love song" do they not get?
Oh god, that's awful.

Kek, I remember reading that in conservapedia
its not wrong tho bucko, he snitched comrades out to MI5; if you read him critically its pretty clear he was baby-tier in Marxist theory and covered up many of his spooky prejudices with muh common sense
Excuse my ignorance but weren't they Stalinists?
Fixsite warmtires
Putting aside the excellents of snitching out fellow comrades to the capitalist state based on mere line-differences, I wonder if some of the people on his list were anything more then left-liberals or simple anti-colonialist nationalists. Some of the folks on his list include fellow Trotskyists like legendary Trot historian Isaac Deutscher
*cucked by word filter: pr*blematics
Porky isn't subtle.
Rock the Casbah, about some sultan placing a ban on rock and sending pilots to bomb anyone who plays it, who instead blast rock throughout the country, was listed 20 on a "top 50 conservstive rock songs" and was pretty popular among American bombers during the Iraq war
kek really?
Joe Strummer supposedly broke down in tears when he heard that American bombers were painting "ROCK THE CASBAH" on their weapons.
I can't blame him.
This comes to mind.
Classcucks never ever get the point unless it's inescapably blatant, like this.

The British National Party once used the Manic Street Preachers version of "If You Tolerate This, Your Children Will Be Next"
Y'know, the Spanish Civil War song about how the far-right is evil. And has the line "If I can shoot rabbits, then I can shoot fascists"
Pretty sophisticated for early 2000s Germany, not too weird that that song struck a chord in the world
I kinda like him as a writer, so I'm gonna choose to believe that Orwell only snitched out people who really deserved it. He is such a seemingly cool guy, so I hope he is as cool as I imagine
pretty cool thread
keep this shit coming if you have it
Talk about some serious idealism and hero worship fam.
You were not wrong
Communism is inevitable.
I'm sure this webm I found on Holla Forums, Holla Forumsyps fucking love to shit on that board is thread related.
Bump. This thread is too based to die. Post other songs interpreted to be patriotic by the irony-impaired even if their not from burgerland.
why are all the black people coming from mexico
Holy shit this is hilarious
Even before the invasion the Southern Europeans were not white enough lmao
Holy shit they're retards.
God damn it.
They are painfully clueless
They mostly likely don't even know it's a leftist song, they probably only know it from MGS. Which is still pretty dumb to use it this way.

The rabbit hole goes deeper
I wonder how Holla Forums can even like MGS, when it has heavy anti-war messages.
Hell, the first game had snake giving a huge anti gene-determinism speech.
That old saw that there's no such thing as an anti-war movie holds true for games too, I guess. Still the series is worth appreciating for what is progressive in it, especially when so many games are "back-to-the-worker-shed" classcucked.
I just checked out the lyrics to see for myself.
I'd imagine that there was a lot of controversy when Bruce Springsteen released that single.
Working-class redneck Republicans tend to have a lot of respect for veterans. So they probably identify with the lyrics anyway. You'll be hard-pressed to find a working-class redneck Republican who doesn't think that the United States treats Vietnam veterans like shit. It's the Republican elite who doesn't give a shit about the veterans.
Republican voters don't necessarily agree 100% with the actions of their party. The GOP is a big tent party. The white working-class votes Republican mainly because they have conservative values and race plays a lot into it as well.
with regards to working class republicans I think a lot of it has to do with multi-polar [class/race+urban/rural]-conflict. this essay has somewhat of an interesting point. exiledonline.com
don't know if it's played everywhere in Murica, but Tubthumping. Written by an anarchist group and played everywhere by frat boys which the song is mocking

I GET KNOCKED DOWN

you all should be libertarian nationalists. its a real thing; i swear
A lot of conservatives also love Jerusalem without getting that it is about tearing down the old order and building a Utopian society.
It's played all the time in sporting events here in McBurgerstan. And at a Rand Paul rally.
"Walking on the Sun" by Smash Mouth (inb4 Shrek reference), was used in a Mercury commercial.
The song is about how the idealism of the hippie movement became another marketing fad, as the baby boomer kids who attended Woodstock became baby boomer adults who work on Madison Avenue and sold their youthful radicalism back to the kids of today.
someone needs to laugh at whoever made this for the rest of their lives

Holla Forumsyps probably think that "the Patriots" is a code word for "da JOOOOOZ"
Tell me about it, i cant browse it without finding a "Duh joos" post on there.
I just wanna talk about vidya and get away from politics once and a while.
Did they miss the part about the commie/socialist stuff?
>white people in Spain, Italy and the Balkans are literally where the non-Mediterranean climate is
