So what are you guys doing to help lefty politics? I mean, besides coming here and posting or whatever, what is it that you do IRL to help advance towards Socialism and eventually Communism (or pick your particular ideological progression, doesn't matter).

I am part of a small local anarchist group. We make propaganda and organize conferences. We also manage a library. I also go to protests.
Starting a commune to show everyone that socialism can work, and at the same time escaping wage slavery. Otherwise, a good old general strike, and on an individual level you can try sabotage, not sure if that's efficient tho.

I am working on a project to start guilds or guild-like professional groups in my city to help the youth find a community to grow and get better at their interests in.
I'm also doing volunteer work and organizing in the local community.
Getting people together and strengthening those bonds is good. I think that's a socialist cause anyone could get behind

It's not about who you started with. It's about the people here are the wrong audience.
Also, a succesfull commune needs to be large enough to produce for itself, plus be able to sustain it self inside capitalism. AKA pay taxes, compete with others (coprorations that exploit workers, thus will be better at it), OR it will have to live outside the law and the system.. good luck with that.

I'm preparing to run for a office in my city, probably city council.
Eventually, I'll work my way up into the state legislature, and attempt to implement some kind of proportional representation type voting system, to make third parties and independents more viable in elections.
If we want to build a movement in burgerland, we'll need to expand our democracy. At best, we'll open the door for socialist parties to make real changes; at worst, they block reforms and push us closer to the brink of revolt.
I really don't like it that people still pretend we live under this uber democracy, that the West is the "free world", when most of the country doesn't get a say on anything that matters, most of the time.
I think a real democracy would lead to a shift to the left. Without the rich running everything I think the right wouldn't have nearly as much ground
