The problem I always have with measuring intelligence in such a way is that it has the potential to be used to really "stick people in their place," so to speak.
In a world where we map everyone's brains out we're inevitably going to be able to tell people what'd they be best at and what they'd enjoy the most, at least from that top-down and detached perspective. Even in a world where we don't go that far, in the future it may become standard practice for one to supply their IQ or brain-imaging results for interviews similar to many employers asking for the Facebook account of potential employees.
We want our world be as great and productive as possible, but do we really want to fit everyone and everything in their own neat and tidy box? After all we don't advance and improve both ourselves, as well as society, for it's own sake, but rather we've done all of this for our own benefit and enjoyment.
To take this in another direction too, imagine a world in which through scanning we can preemptively determine who will win that Chess game, who can ride a bike the fastest and longest, who the greatest artist is in terms of technical execution, and who should be king.
I'm sure there's possibly a good amount of people here who would like to live in a world like that, but to me it seems that mapping things out in such a way really takes the life out of life.
