Well comics are an American thing, and comics do get animated. Less frequently, but they are generally more successful.

I disagree, i think the differences you see are largely contrived. Manga is BETTER so of course it's going to be more thorough in influence, but the techniques and implementation of graphic novels remains the same.

Even if you include live action films and television, American comic book adaptations are made in fewer numbers than manga adaptations. And then if you also include live action manga adaptations the numbers become even more lopsided. Manga is huge in Japan.

Now i just constantly practice anatomy, perspective, and trying to figure out the balance of realism/minimalism for animation

You should practise 3D camera movement and foreshortening and odd camera angles. It seems like almost nobody, at least in America, can do those.

Anime is fundamentally cinematic. Even the most ho-hum shows are done cinematically. Shows that are cinematic in a really pronounced way are less common, but then ask yourself if every live action movie and show is cinematic in a really pronounced way. The answer is no.

It is often just anime for anime's sake. Sometimes it has just memes and tropes the audience is seeking. Depth transformations aren't needed and sometimes get lost when the anime is operating at such a shallow level.
