Its far from easy as you imply, but you are correct to a certain degree. The difference though is that Einsteins hypothesis was tested scientifically to be correct and so was given the title of theory.

The theory of general relativity is important and many technologies you use on a daily basis rely on it being correct in order to work. GPS is one example, without accounting for the time dilation in the satelites like Einstein predicts, the position position calculated by your GPS will go out of calibration by something like 20 miles each day.
