It's CURRENT YEAR, you're only saving like 500KB at most on most images with a large quality loss. Unless your image is fuckhuge with tons of detail then I don't see why you should care about filesize, this site has an 8MB limit and several terabyte HDDs are cheap nowadays.
It's especially annoying for people like me who edit a lot, .jpg are awful source images.
