Race is basically just an outdated 19th century word to categroize the three main genetic clusters that basically make up the three big corners of a triangle in whitch all of humanity lies in between. Scientists have been attacking the term "race" as being too stiff and too inaccurate a word for this and prefer other terms as "three populations" or "thee genetic clusters" since race implies there are set clearly defined races that don't blend into each other. When scientists speak of the term "race" as a social construct, they mean it in the sense that it's a man made categorization. That doesn't mean it's not based on reality. In the same logic according to these scientists the term 'sex' is a man made categorization term to describe differen populations in animals that has a certain meaning to us humans. For example calling chicken the female sex of the animal and cocks the male is purely based on the fact that we tend to call animals that have eggs the female sex. But we also call animals that don't have anything to do with eggs female because the male/female dichotimy is what we humans like to use to differenciate populations. Language is a social construct too - it's purely made up terms and noises to communicate that don't even mean the same thing to each human. But does that mean language has no biological basis? No. Of course it does. It's hard wired into the human brain. Race is a social construct (in scientific terms) as it's a tool to describe populations but it meant different things to different people. The Nazis used the term 'race' to describe certain populations (alpine race, baltic race, nordic race etc) and the americans used it just to differenciate between black and white and yellow. Sfter mapping the Haleogroups (Y) the nazi observation turned out to be quite right and the american turned out to be simplistic and crude ("white race"). The Term race doesn't even exist in other language, they use other words that have a slighty different meaning (the japanese people think entirely in terms of ethnicity). So in linguistic terms YES it's a social construct just like the word "fruits" or the term "species" is a made up word to categorize things. Liberals for some reason took this and concluded that therefor the term race must not have any biological foundation since it's a man made term, right? WRONG. It might be an old word and maybe inaccurate in scientific terms but it's damn useful for the everyday man to categorize a person to belong to one of the three big genetic clusters. It's like saying "european" to someone with an european accent. It would be more accurate to say "he's a french" but as an american how the fuck are you going to know that anyways? Same goes with race. You can't make an DNA test and pin point the racial make up a person so the only sensible thing to do is use the word "negro" or "east asian". Liberals do the same with the term "sex" by the way.
