They are so far off form reality that most modern historians don`t use them as any form of source material. They might have seemed accurate in 60`s when communist countries were closed off, but since they opened up and records have become public they have shown to be at least 200% overestimation when it comes to Soviet numbers at least.

A huge amount of good goy and Jew intellectuals, journalists, and others within that sphere defended communism everywhere. Google Harvard + Khmer Rouge. Back in the 60s/70s you had a large number of Western intellectuals in what was supposed to be the number one academic establishment defending Cambodian communists (for extra keks, google harvard + maoism).

There is nothing do it, just look at north Korean ideological platform, based on self-reliance and military first policy to protect the nation state.
