I'd say the end of season 13 was when the show really started to run out of steam and became boring. Instead of spending time crafting stories and jokes, they instead changed the focus to "one long, running joke per episode" and "every episode has to be about current events."

Maybe the show got better, but I haven't watched a single episode since Raising the Bar. That and Sarcastaball were so fucking boring and unfunny that I didn't see a point in watching any longer.

5. The cast looks more and more out of place with hyperrealistic settings and celebrities
6. At the end of a labored and convoluted plot, the conclusion is even less satisfying than the beginning
7. Rinse and repeat ten times a year

If anything, serialization magnified the problem because instead of stretching out one joke per show, it now gets stretched out to one joke per season. Tell me what made you laugh last season. This is further evidenced by how much the universe freaks out when Trump wins. Obviously Trump is more entertaiing but for a show like this to repeat the same political premise as Saturday Night Live speaks poorly about what used to be an edgy show.

I think the episode that made me stop caring was the one where they were intentionally giving themselves cancer to get medicinal marijuana. I don't know what season that was but it was such a shit episode and there had been some shit episodes before that I just stopped caring at that point.

No, it's definitely lost steam. The show now dickrides anything popular and can't string together a decent coherent plot-line anymore. It's also showing they're running out of ideas. The show has lost it's subtlety. And if will never be as good as it was in the mid-2000s.
I have defended SP plenty of times. Even enjoyed an episode or two in the bad seasons. But can't really defend this season. It was a joke. The ending was so anti-climactic and ridiculous. They had to sum it all up in a matter of 5 minutes and still didn't reveal everything. I thought the whole point of the seasons being entirely plot-driven and having continuity was so it could start off with a simple story then build up as it went on. The PC principal season did this when it parodied advertising.
