Drive is horrible. The story is utterly banal, schlock tier banal like The Fast and Furious, I'm still appalled by it. The main actor is literally a soulless cardboard, does he have autism? The cinematography is devoid of any beauty, it's slow for the sake of being slow, there is no capturing of life that is emphasized within the process. It's city landscape after city landscape, the mise en scene is really wretched due to the horrible lighting and set design. The score is like the discount version of 80's trance, repetitive percussion, cheap electronic instruments, and the worst implementation of polyphony imaginable, it's not even loyal to the movie's pacing. And then there are the action scenes that painfully tries to give itself a legitimate context, but failed at it due to the banality of the whole setup, they're really mediocre as well.
What a severely childish movie that tries to pass itself as art. Reminds me of Innarritu's The Revenant. Why does everyone like it?

The driver has superhuman abilities, and is an ambiguous superhero. This is referenced multiple times in the film. He has superhuman driving skills. He stomps in a guy's skull for his waifu. He has an alter-ego, with his partner Shannon.
