If you're seriously going to dedicate yourself to the Buddhist route, be prepared to be disappointed by pretty much any other given "Buddhist". From what I've seen, Buddhism (at least in the US, couldn't speak for any other country) is mainly something you say you do because you're a smug asshole. They don't actually follow any of the more important teachings and will often straight up hate on people.

There is no objective value or meaning in life. All value is subjectively attributed and "meaning" and "purpose" are subjectively determined. If you remove all pleasure from a person's life their life typically becomes "not worth it", therefore it's rational to place pleasure itself as the highest value

Try and do research about both religions m8. Before converting to Islam I read about pretty much every religion there is and it still pays off. It helps me with being at peace with myself and keeping my faith free from influances of other systems of thoughts.

Start with Quran. Try to read it with as much historical and linguistic commentary as you can get. This way even if you happen to disagree with it or simply dislike it, you'll learn more about the arabic language and culture than you'd ever have from a language course.

I especially recommend reading the quran translation by Dr. Ghali, Muhsin Khan and the Sahih International AT THE SAME TIME. This way even if you won't be able to understand a passage or a chapter you'll be aware that there's a lexical ambiguity. You can do this on this website quran.com just play a bit with the settings

To fully understand the message of Islam you'll also need to know a lot about paganism. The paganic themes, traditions and cults will be adressed, attacked, reformed or commented both in Quran and the hadiths. Most muslim books are extremely biased, and you won't find there anything but angry arab rant on how the pagans were cruel animals. Varg Vikernes did some good videos about the germanic and pan-european pagan values on his YT channel youtube.com/user/ThuleanPerspective. And Nietzsche does the best job at explaining the gist of greek and roman morality but his commentary is scattered all over his books. From what I remember there are quite a few passages about the Greeks and Romans in Beyond Good and Evil and his Anti-Christ

Viewing pleasure as the purpose of living and organising your life and actions accordingly doesn't decrease purpose in your life, it increases it. Everything I do is to gain pleasure, it's impossible for me to have any existential crisis, my worldview has guided me for years and it always will
