The more they push it, the less likely I'm going to even consider the product.
That's why I'll never purchase any of the bioshock games (or anything from the company) and I'll even go as far as to tell everyone I know to do likewise. Wikia kept pushing it while I was on my phone: it would show up on every page refresh blocking the content for a good 10 seconds making it just that much more frustrating because clicking the x/close would just redirect me to the page of the game.

The "bloatware" is less bloaty than just the bare HTML of the website.

Html5 and unwanted bloated js animation killed the web for me, i saw more ads from mobile games, unlike the web with constant pop ups and interruptions, mobile ads have some standards, i willingly watched ads for in game bonuses while clickbait blogger will force ads down my throat the moment i clicked their articles and i get nothing from it.

HTML5 DOM storage and bunch of other storage-related fuckery killed the web for me.

They literally can store data and retrieve it anytime, also webpages use JS to reinstall any cookies deleted at the very moment.

JS can also find out sites you visited through the 'color' of links. Fucking canvas fingerprint.

The only thing you can do is block IP ranges in the firewall level.

How to do it:

Ping the ad's host name, example www.googleanalytics.com or googlesyndication what ever fuck it is then once you got the IP address number try to WHOIS it.

In linux you can whois IPs directly in the terminal without going through ad-infested html5 sjw sites:
whois 123.123.123.123

Do not whois www.googleanalytics.com directly otherwise you'll get a bunch of shit and fake info.

Install dig if you want to know all their TLDs detected by your DNS.
If you want to block googlesyndication.com install bind-tools or bind-utils to get dig

If you don't want to configure shit on your linux iptables, hosts file, and fiddle with shitty permissions then using the router's IP firewall is recommended.

WAN IP: 74.125.0.0-74.125.255.255 or 74.125.0.0/16

LAN IP: insert your router's LAN DHCP range ~ 192.168.1.2-192.168.1.254

WAN/LAN Ports: 1-65535 (if you don't block it all then there is a chance they'll slip in your firewall)

Tick UDP/TCP/ICMP.

Rinse and repeat dig-whois-block until the IPs are unreachable and ads are broken

I have no objection to the principle of sites trying to generate revenue by advertising but the ad industry needs to clean up its act, deploy some self-regulation and consistent quality assurance standards. While it continues to use poorly-written pajeetcode full of holes and vulnerabilities, or worse, actively try to intrude into my system, my adblockers and scriptblockers stay on.
