I've been doing some thinking. This is kind of an /r9k/ post, but /r9k/ has so few people that it's better to post it here.

Some have drawn parallels between the fight for sexual freedom and the fight for various minority groups. There are certainly quite a few parallels, but the most important one is actually missing, because of the fact that minor-attracted people are the majority, not a minority. Attempts to make progress on this issue are fundamentally different from other issues like racial equality or gay marriage, not because there's a difference in the principles involved, but because of how our social system works. It's a system where big government and big business work together to control the public as much as possible, and policing the sexuality of the population is the strongest method of control they have. Nobody buys the "muh terrorists" excuses for government overreach anymore, because thanks to alternative media, they can see how US foreign policy has created the very enemies it claims to fight. Thus, cracking down on sexual expression is the last resort the system has to prevent change.

They can allow blacks to vote, they can allow gay marriage, they can allow 1001 other things because those things are all practiced only by small groups, so they don't represent any major change for the majority. But allowing the majority to freely express themselves sexually isn't something they can tolerate. Getting AoC laws relaxed wouldn't just be a social revolution. It would effectively mean the end of the current political order, the political order dominated by chads and stacies.

Sadly, America has been full of people like that for a long time. The average American doesn't respect the principles of freedom that this country was founded on. They believe in punishing victimless crimes and thought crimes in much the same way that SJWs rail against microaggressions - as in, aggressions that they can't even prove exist.
