The only reason healthcare prices have been driven up in America is because rather than allowing the industry to fully privatize it's been bloated by government expenditure and meddling by the insurance companies.

Instead of attacking the core problems, Obamacare made them worse by giving the government and the insurance companies even more power over healthcare. American citizens are now legally required to pay private industry for healthcare insurance. Which in it's own is horrific and wildly unconstitutional.

And as a result premiums have shot through the roof meaning healthcare is now that much more unaffordable despite the fact people have mandated insurance.

If you want to see a decrease in care costs privatization is the only option. In private industry it's competition and streamlining that drives expensive goods and services down down down. (Consider the cost of a GB of storage 15 years ago to now.) Along with lowered taxation and regulation. The medical industry also has to pay exorbitant malpractive insurance costs. Which you're paying for in addition to your own care along with the costs of those who have been subsidized etc. On top of the fact you're paying out of your god damn paycheck for SSI and medicaid/medicare ANYWAY.

Not to mention the idea of socialized healthcare was a Leninist one conceived to give the government unchecked power of the individual.

- the protection given by the state can not be better than what the market can provide, (key word being CAN). Any protection given by the state via taxes is already a revenue/taxes vs expenses/cost scenario, calculate the % of taxes to apply to healthcare and offer something within the budget. if ya giving better coverage than any company can ever do, you are giving it at loss.

- do not force people to get additional healthcare they don't want nor restrict what companies are allowed to offer additional coverage, richer people who want to pay for a better protection can, and the market competition will help more people be able to afford it.

I was foolish enough to try Obamacare (I had the money to pay, what an idiot i was).
So I sign up, problem was the website was swamped, its slow, its shit, its confusing. A week later I finally get on, set up my account, which is difficult in its own right. Whoops, the website doesn't work again. OK I call them. I am put on a call tree, and an hour later I finally talk to a human being. Another hour later its finally resolved so I make my selections. Wow, its not cheap, the deductibles are ridiculous and the website makes no guarantees I will even get a subsidy.

So I'm on Obamacare (actually Blue Cross Blue Shield) on a silver plan. I FINALLY get my cards after a 15 day delay.
WHAT? $500 ER deductible, $75 copay, $20 drugs. I thought this was a silver plan. My original insurance was $50/$30/$10.

Anyway I go to the doctor, cough up my copay. Bill arrives in the mail, BCBS hasn't paid up. I call them, they say there's something wrong in the "Exchange". They finally pay it and I find they didn't pay the 75% promised, more like 50%. I have to pay the rest, and with the inflated billing that isn't negotiated down I am pretty much paying full out of pocket.

So a year later I try to get out of BCBS silver….I call BCBS, they tell me to call the Marketplace. I call the Marketplace they tell me to call BCBS.
I get this runaround for 2 days until finally one guy says he will cancel. I way a month, no cancellation, the bills keep coming in.
I call back, they cancelled my dental policy but not my medical policy. They say I need to talk to the Marketplace, the Marketplace tells me to call BCBS.
After a month of this one exasperated call rep contacts her supervisor, supervisor says "dont' pay the bills, Its cancelled retroactively". Okay thats good.

I get another bill, I call back. They can't figure out why it keeps billing me. I have $1000 outstanding in policy payments, the Marketplace just says "ignore the bills". Eventually the letters die down. Now I get "renewal" notices asking if I want to get back in because the marketplace windows is back open again.

NOW REMEMBER this is actually BCBS, who section off their weakest least informed employees to handle marketplace insurance only. If i had gotten BCBS directly it would have been much easier.

The government Marketplace was a basket case, nobody knew what the hell was going on. Oh and I never got a subsidy.

Even communism is more efficient than this.

Lots of part time employees lost health care because of it. I almost lost mine, but my union covers it now instead.

Beyond that, all it does is say that people are now forced to buy health care, or pay a fine, which is completely retarded. Now that everyone has to buy it, insurance companies decided to jack up the cost a shitload because why the hell not? The price increases have especially hit young men the hardest, the system expects use to essentially pay for all the old people's health care. Basically a Ponzi Scheme.

One last little ditty….Obamacare is about to go broke, it will run out of money by the end of 2017. Too much subsidizing of private insurance, and all the insurance companies are pulling out of the marketplace.

The GOP won't have to kill it, it will go belly up during the next presidency.

I used to work for "the marketplace". I also did some work for veterans scheduling doctors for them and so fourth.

I think I talked about how shit the veterans program was before so I'll go into the marketplace.

Despite having no real experience with the insurance industry or even owning insurance myself I took a 3 or 4 week crash course on it and was on the phones not long after.

I was mostly versed in legal jargon and basically the bare essentials for not damaging myself or the company. Most of the things I learned were on the job training although to be honest the work wasn't terribly difficult.

My job basically boiled down to me signing people up on the market place, helping them fill out an app or filling out the app for them, and educating them on different plans and helping them compare between one plan or another. I could also enroll them or dis-enroll them as well depending on what choices they made. About the enrollment though…

Open enrollment was truly hell. They had us working through the holidays because nigs and such can't into long term time preference and they had to call in "to get dat obama care son" on the 12th hour. Naturally the system crashed because TOO MANY NIGS and they had to extend the deadline. What a fucking surprise.

The biggest issue with the project thing was waste. I wore out my jaw simply repeating things to customers because we were legally obligated to. Even if both me and customer knew that they only needed to change the name of their kid on the application I had to go through the entire application reading every single question verbatim and making sure the customer gave me a clear and concise answers to each one including household income and citizenship status. This whole process which could take upwards of 25 to 35 minutes ASSUMING our system didn't get an error at which point we had to restart from scratch. I brought many old women to tears doing this.

Often I would change some detail in their application such as income. We had to update their application of course and when we did this they would no longer be eligible for the plan they had before and lost the premium they had because some bureaucratic fucks decided they made $1000 dollars too much or too little or maybe they were one year too old for a specific plan/rate.

The pay was nice but constantly fucking people every day made me glad when that contract dried up.

Not fucking surprised. I remember seeing these people who make sub 10k per year salary get $1000+ dollars a year in healthcare subsidies. Also my paycheck was subsidized. I know I certainly wasn't doing $14 an hour worth of work but that didn't stop me from doing it for that pay. Gotta eat ya know.

2. Socialized medicine doesn't work and is detrimental to society.
Primarily the problem is that it is usually unintelligent people who have the majority of hospital visits, things like infections, heart attacks, accidents, etc are largely preventable illnesses that smarter people are wary of.
Smarter people tend to have more money and the foresight to insure themselves against random chance illness.
For every one smart person socialized medicine saves, ten dumb people survive their own incompetence, worse still it is the smart people who have to work extra hard to save these dumb people. That money that could go into expanding their businesses, renovating their home, or buying goods is instead fed into the medical industrial complex to save stupid people. The medical corporations use their money to lobby the government to expand services and crush the middle class with the burden.

Socialized systems like Canada often get praised but by people who have no experience with it. A relative of mine was diagnosed with cancer recently. It took three months to get it cut out, chemo is necessary but still not initiated. While in the hospital recovering she was in a bed less than five meters away from someone with a new antibiotics resistant superbug in an open ward, she ended up getting an almost lethal infection too and was forced to stay in for another two weeks. This shit is a gong show even in 95% white neighbourhoods because the system does not work. White people can smooth out the bumps, moral integrity can bridge some gaps but still doesn't work mathematically.

Government control of anything isn't to help citizens. It's to seize control. They don't care about quality of service because even if it's shit you still have to pay for it. Look at your DMV.

Obamacare is basically just the state fining people who don't buy insurance. I'm not American, so I don't fully understand the ACA, but from what I understand it raised the insurance costs since people are being coerced into buying it, and it killed jobs because employers couldn't afford to insure their employees.

Actual socialized medicine is not too bad in my opinion (from a Canadian perspective) because everyone is covered and nobody gets fined for not being covered.

The problem is you never know when you will need healthcare. Today you are healthy, tomorrow perhaps you get in a car accident, or develop some weird brain tumour.

The REAL problem is that real wages in relation to inflation are in decline and the purchasing power of the middle class has been substituted with loans and insurance usury.
