Going back to TOS, ships' crews always had insignias on their uniform.

Pic 1 is TOS era badges for command, ship's operations, and sciences, respectively.
Pic 2 is obvious who it is, with the different Enterprise badges for command and sciences visible.
Pic 3 is Commodore Decker, the maniac that had his ship wasted and who tried to commandeer the Enterprise to go after the planet killer; note the different badge.
Pic 4 is the the captain of the USS Tamarlane; note the different badge.
Pic 5 is some guy on some ship; note the different badge.

They always had insignias on their uniforms but the insignia seen in the picture included with my post was only used on the USS Enterprise NCC-1701 up until sometime shortly before The Motion Picture when it was adopted as the standard insignia for all of Starfleet because the Enterprise was the only one of the 12 Constitution Class Starships to successfully complete its five year mission.

everything about it.

lol what a retard. The obviously is, read this. freethoughtnation.com/why-are-there-no-jews-christians-or-muslims-in-star-trek/

It's right that the Romulans are the Chinese but that doesn't make Vulcans Jews that makes them Asian friendlies of the time like South Vietnamese or Japanese. They look the same as the enemy but are allies. Get it?

NANI???

Star Trek Discovery is another soft reboot. Although I'm curious to hear how they rationalize shit like the uniform insignia, the truth is, they just don't give a fuck and are "re-interpreting" Star Trek, whether the fans like it or not.

This whole project is an expensive marketing campaign for the streaming service and nothing more. It's like how those satellite radio services ten years ago would sign absurd multi-million dollar contracts with celebrities and give them their own channels, but in reality, they were just paying to attach their 'brand' to the radio service and help sell units and subscriptions.

My theory is that this is a similar ploy (even though they already own Star Trek). They're literally making a show to support the marketing materials for their service. I wouldn't be surprised if the entire first season came out of the marketing budget for this service. It will be tons of sexy images and a sizzle reel of this sexy black Star Trek chick being a "badass".

The point is, it doesn't have to make any sense. And to be honest, Star Trek's canon is fucked anyway. Honestly, the franchise needs a clean-up / reboot of sorts.. but it needs to be put in the hands of a single individual who has a passion for Star Trek.

That will never happen, of course, because the people who own and control Star Trek actually hate TOS and TNG, which basically means they hate Star Trek. We're doomed to subversion/parody with loose canon.

not official model, but official scale for the NX/Akira-looking ship from the teaser.

Klingon wtf-ery.

Is that seriously a Klingon ship? The design doesn't match anything they have.

best theory is there's some kind of Klingon version of the Botany Bay/Khan story going on.

Ikt's not just the ships. Now the Klingons have squid hands and Zoidberg feet too.

This is going to miss the mark so much it won't be even hilarious to watch it crash and burn. It will just be embarrassing and sad.

ahem

Star Trek was always leftist propaganda. I fail to see how STD is any different from all the other shows that came before it.

at least this was already sort of retconned by Voyager and Enterprise.

Tell me Major…..

The show writers got so assmad they were unintentionally making the Federation look like shit they strawmanned him into a parody.

Doesn't help they literally got told at the last minute they were not getting another season so they turned him into the literal Anti-Jew. All that was missing were a pair of horns, a Hitler mustache, and for him to turn up to Bajor with a Gas Oven.

Enterprise is already yet another divergent timeline due to the whole temporal cold war bullshit and Voyager.. already showed it doesn't understand evolution in biology so I guess not understanding evolution of society either is consistent with its shittiness.

...

that AND Enterpise's stupid fan servicey plots about rubbing each other down with oil in their sauna after every away mission and retconning everything in sight such as giving 22nd C Klingon's birds of prey, meeting Ferengi and Borg, naming their ship Enterprise instead of something less conspicuously unmentioned in conversations about ships named Enterprise throughout the rest of the franchise and so forth.

T'Pol is the only reason I even bothered to watch the show, so I guess they did something right with the fanservice.

Ok but what is there for non gay men like myself who aren't into obvious Trannies such as Jolene Blalock to enjoy?

Like all women she aged like milk.

...

...

All Star Trek ships look like ass. All Star Trek aesthetics looks like someone puked on a paper and said it's concept art.

Star Trek is trash, always was and always will be. It's Holla Forums masturbatory fantasy where they can sit down and pretend communism can work, it only requires the invention of magical machines that shit out whatever you want in unlimited quantities and for free.

>>>Holla Forums

...

Oh so you're for big government heavily regulating a capitalist society. Star Trek has that too. Hate to break it to ya but you're a space Jew.

I'm a classic liberal, so, no.
Libertarianism is to anarcho-capitalism what socialism is to anarcho-communism.

fuck off Sargon

Suck my cock.

I think I missed that info.

In other words, you don't understand shit.
Got it.

You're classic alright.
Since The Federation quite clearly does have a government it's not anarchy and therefore not communist under your definition.

Nobody claimed they are communists, dude.

read the thread before posting next time.

Star Trek is closer to a social democracy. There is no collective ownership of the means of production, they are not restrictive, they are oriented by science and not dogma, etc…

Read up on the differences between the systems. Classic Liberalism is superior to social democracy, but social democracy is what working european countries (and currently america) are, not fucking socialist which would be more like Venezuela.

Does this mean it still has potential?

The writer user, not the casting director.

Star Trek is literally what would happen if Jews were erased from the Earth. Everything is pretty much the same except people focus on bettering themselves rather than following the almighty shekel as their defining goal in life. That's it.

...

I don't see how getting rid of the gems and replacing them with commies would make a better society.
In Star Trek if you try to think for yourself and build your own community you can expect Sisko and the Defiant to knock on your door the next day.

I just woke up to the fact that Star Trek Discovery is abbreviated STD. Are the writers of the show trying to tell us something? Fuck my brain is slow this morning

Spotted the Ferengi

...

It really was. Everything was new and exciting for the characters.

Compare it to later placed series:

Truly, space media is only good when it's barely good in terms of technology.
It's just so much comfier watching a show where the characters are faced with decisions that the entire human race has been faced with.

The exploration element also feels so much better than "Lol transporters" every 3 seconds.

ENT is my favorite Trek series after DS9. Sure as a viewer you already know the klingons, (((ferengis))), romulans, the borgs etc. but - like you said - to these characters everything was new. It was great to see their reactions. I also liked the set design, the whole art direction (the CGI was shit though), everything seemed functional and not just LCARS printed on every glass pannel, no carpets everywhere, just a ship that looks like a submarine.

Bakula was so much fun as a Captain. He knew when to have fun and when to be serious, but he also skirted the rules just to suit his crew.

Plus, Porthos is a better pet than Picard's fish, Kirk's pet harem, Janeway's pet lesbian borg and Sisko's pet nigger son/pet jew.

Porthos had substance to him.

Good think Holla Forums wasn't around when they introduced bumpy Klingons or cast Patrick Stewart as a Frenchman. I mean the show's probably going to be bad but ">muh starfleet logo" has fuck all to do with it.

What did you expect?
The entire premise of star trek was "communism works, we just need technology, diversity works", I don't see why this additional diversity surprises you.

Why even live

That's kind of cool, but it doesn't even look like it belongs in Star Trek.

She'd be fun to do heroin with. You could always find a vein

I don't think they necessarily hated DS9. It was the first Star Trek project designed from the ground up to be subversive / revisionist. You could make an argument that the entire point of DS9 (at least initially) was an attempt at reconciling Star Trek with racial stereotyping (particularly Jewish stereotypes) and the overall vision of Star Trek, which does not suggest a future where the Jews got what they wanted and 'remade the world'. It was an apology by people who don't understand that Jews don't accept apologies. Basically, the Ferengi are how society used to see them (inb4 'yankee trader' nonsense), the Bajorans are how normies see them now and would like them to be, but in reality (and the reason why the DS9 love letter didn't work) is that in reality the Jews see themselves more as akin to the Vulcan/Romulan situation, with a dash of the Q Continuum and that alien parasite species from Conspiracy.

That's not a commentary on the quality of DS9 or if they even accomplished their goal, it just is what it is.

I keep trying to tell them, user, but they wont listen. The people who make Star Trek hate Star Trek. A lot of the stupid decisions are just carelessness, but I think the Patrick Steward / Jon Luc Picard thing was legit trolling.

CBS has no idea why Star Trek is popular. The few actors or crew who are fond of the series have a childhood sentimental attachment. The desire to pass that along to future generations of young lads is noble, but a lost cause since Star Trek is owned by Jews who would rather children watch pornography and stop dreaming of a future amongst the stars.

/blog

I see what you're saying now. My mistake; I misunderstood.

Carry on.

Did they steal these concepts from Farscape or Lexx?

Quite the contrary, the people who make it are just completely disinterested. It's the networks that hated it (both TOS and TNG), and took their frustrations out on the writers and producers, causing them to "phone it in" time after time after time.

There's a neat documentary called Chaos On the Bridge, hosted by Shatner, and he interviews the showrunners, directors, producers, writers and so on, of TNG. Pretty much everybody that worked on the show, every day when they showed up for work, thought that day would be their last because the show was always on the verge of being cancelled. Not even for lack of interest or lack of viewership, but because the network wanted to put some other bullshit on and try to milk emerging markets.

Fair distinction between the production side and the networks, but I was intentionally making a blanket statement of everyone listed in the credits… i really believe the entire endeavor is so polluted by much of what you mention that everyone except for a few autists despise Star Trek.

I think it's entirely possible for all those involved to subtly vacillate between loathing and boredom depending on which series they worked on, its overall success, *their* overall success, their current investment in Star Trek's legacy, how many conventions they were compelled to attend that year, what they had for lunch, and - probably most importantly - who is asking the question.

Good call with that documentary

Maybe, one of the main cast is an open homosexual. Expect gay penetration to be presented as tolerant and beautiful.

Porthos also had more character development than Travis, the token black.

My personal in universe explanation for differences and screw ups with canon is that we are seeing mostly compatible timelines from different universes. Like the multi-verse from the many worlds theory. Most of the major details are correct but fine grained details are off.

They named the character before they cast the actor. And then couldn't be bothered to rename the character

Well "working" anyway.

The libertarian society looks more fun.

Warhammer 40K

which circles back to the apathy vs. spite debate. I believe there is both, but if I had to bet on spotting the malice, that would be one of them. I can imagine the cocktail chatter about how the rubes in flyover country wouldnt notice an English Frenchman.

A lot of the first season stuff was sheer who-fucking-cares-we're-going-to-be-canceled-anyway. All the shit carried-over from the aborted second TOS run in the 70's (some of which ended up in TMP). Decker essentially becoming Riker without bothering to change the name significantly and the bald Indian actress becoming Troi is a glaring example. The Naked Now and other recycled plots being another.

If there's any malice it's against the French. All the Frenchmen in the TNG era are English and they speak English

As it should be.

usually we blame that specifically on Gene. Your call if he counts as somebody who hates Star Trek. Funny how no matter how good the writing got they were still stuck with most of the dumb shit that got established in the first few episodes.

The Ferengi fear the Klingons.

because Klingon honor cannot be bought by any coin the Ferengi possess.

Hollywood could have cast a much better looking black actress than what they did. The previous thread proved that if you ignore all the porn whores.

indeed

bullshit, they wax on about muh honor but practically every one of them aside from Worf is willing to betray that when something serves their personal interests. Offer them a couple cases of blood wine and fresh gagh and they'd decloak to sneak attack their own mother.

No. Please no.

You must be lying.

I can't find any official confirmation from the people behind it though I'm certain one of them said it. However, there seems to be a lot fo publications pushing for it. When I Google "Star Trek Discovery Muslim I get…

Why 'Star Trek: Discovery' Should Feature A Muslim … - Moviepilot

and so on and so forth

What do you retard not understand about the term "post-scarcity" society.

If you live on Earth, or probably any Federation planet nothing is unavailable to you. There is for all for all intensive purposes "limitless" energy and anything you need or want can be replicated. So why do people work? Why does Picard's family make wine? Why does Sisko's dad run a restaurant? Why does that guy at Starfleet Academy garden? Because it's their fucking hobby. My GF knits shit constantly even though she'll never sell enough of it to justify that craft economically. Also the human in Trek really aren't humans in the same way we are, in a few episodes they actually said that human beings had evolved beyond greed etc. so you're not going to have one dude in Iowa who uses every last bit of replicator energy so he can create a giant vault and then store billions of bars of gold in it, leaving none for anyone else.

I'm also guessing that working with others, gives you social references, it lets others know that you're not autistic, and that you're dependable and that probably counts on a resume.

BTW the Ferengi are just as advanced as the Federation, but the reason they have scarcity is because they artificially maintained it. Their monetary system, gold-pressed latinum, is slips of gold with a liquid latinum core. The latinum is a worthless fictitious liquid, it does absolutely nothing and has no inherent value other than it can't be replicated therefore it is rare and can be used as money. Latinum serves no purpose other than to perpetuate a culture that historically values capitalism above all else.

I still think they'll use the Klingons as stand-ins for Muslims and the entire premise of the series will be an allegory for the West merging with Islam. The ship itself appears to be a Federation/Klingon hybrid. Those leaked Klingons could literally be human-Klingon hybrids. They all sorta look like General Krang or whatever - Christopher Plummer's character from Star Trek V. Nu-Trek already retconned the Vulcans into Jew-metaphors… now its time to "re-imagine" the Klingons for propaganda purposes.

The Muslim starfleet officer wouldn't surprise me, though. No amount of poz is off the table.

why couldnt those faggots into blockchain?

Hasn't blockchain been cucked already?

because the people who own and control Star Trek actually hate TOS and TNG, which basically means they hate Star Trek.
Why?

...

If they hate TOS so much then why do they keep going back to only that well for "modern interpretations"?

Why TOS and TNG? I thought DS9 was the one they all hated, since they haven't been willing to make a show like that since.

Brand recognition. Everyone remembers Kirk and TOS more than anything else.

it seems like it got away from him pretty early. Who knows if he regrets selling it or not. By all accounts he was through with it and more interested in other projects like Andromeda or whatever but the success of Star Wars and the emerging 80's sci-fi renaissance drew him back him.

Personally, I think Star Trek's reliance of British and American naval traditions rubbed people the wrong the way in Hollywood. Too many midwestern, protestant WWII and Korea veterans in the kitchen, methinks. Military sci-fi is ok, provided it carries a subtly demoralizing message or is in some way subversive. Military sci-fi with a positive, utopian message? You're running afoul of certain (((sensibilities))) there. I remember how Gene hated the Star Trek FAFSA war games back in the day because of the military sci-fi angle (even though the miniatures were cool as fuck).

My hope for a proper Star Trek reboot / canon cleanup is with an interactive project at some point in the future. They need to capture and preserve the likenesses of the surviving actors while they can, digitally, for some point in the future when the entire saga can be recreated in CGI / 3D interactive. Once those assets end up on the internet (and they will), then the entirety of Star Trek lore can be remixed and eventually someone will create one that doesn't suck.

We're only a few years away from having computer voices like Siri or Alexa using entirely synthesized on-the-fly voices of famous people as well as photorealistic models of actors complete with "authentic" body language and facial movements. 100% anatomically correct porn actresses fully digitally scanned and programmed are coming.

I remember making Klingon skins for Quake. I can't wait to create my own TNG episodes on my PC.

The amount of TNG porn will be a tsunami that will bring down the internet. Every combination of shipping will be made. However, there will be one constant in that timeline, Will Wheaton will still be a cuck.

Didn't they forced him to step away after the first TMP tanked at the BO?

Roddenberry was a spiritual kike so it's only natural for him to Jew with the best of them.

Star Trek was anything but military sci-fi. Federation vessels are not military in nature, phasers were deliberately made to not look like guns and the uniforms they use are in direct opposition with the pomp and circumstance of the ones used by the military.

The only reason there's any sort of conflict is because Gene and his yid friends knew no gentile would bother watching the filth without at least something interesting going on. Who in their right mind gives a fuck about Das Kapital fanfiction featuring a Mary Sue civilization?

My hope is that Star Trek is thrown into the garbage bin where it belongs, along with all the other leftist shit of the past 50 years and a resurgent white Europe gets sci-fi back to the Golden Age where all the heroes where blonde and blue eyed, women were damsels in distress and no subversive communist kikery was afoot.

Hopefully they take a shit on Asimov and his "muh allegory" yid bullshit.

>>>Holla Forums

I'm amazed no one has made a new video game set in the TNG era which ideally uses the actors for one last role similar to the love put into faithfully recreating the source material in The Warriors, Ghostbusters the Videogame or Alien Isolation etc. I mean look at this!

No one gives a shit about your space Marxism fantasy filled with racemixing and emasculated faggots.

I don't recall any interracial characters in Star Trek, just interspecies ones.

O'Brien's spawn. There were plenty of mixed race couples

Equally as bad. The point is that it pushes racemixing, among other leftist filth ideas.

So just how pure is your Semitism?

Holla Forums, you're really shit at this.

yes, for every actress that is 'digitally archived', there will be more porn than legit content because all this shit is going to be cracked. The Fappenings of the future wont be phone selfies or video sex tapes… they are going to be VR experiences using their cracked/leaked digital assets, combined with porn star genital scans/physics/rigging/scripting. The near-future is a nightmare for any female not wearing a burka in public, but that's the price you pay for supporting "democracy" and destroying tradition for 100 years i guess.

no shit, but it was the militaristic themes and darker tone that sci-fi had taken by the late 70's - and which inevitably influenced Star Trek post-TOS - that Gene Reddenbocker pushed-back against. He hated dark, edgy shit.

One could argue that the over-the-top cheesiness of early TNG was in part Gene's overreaction / over-correction for the militarism of the early 80's Star Trek films (even though I think the aesthetic was spot-on, personally).

Yeah you/someone will lmao, unless you're a literal leftist, you cannot read this sentence without cringing.

clickbait sites are cancer.
also I think it was Bryan Fuller who said, in response to some hajji at a convention asking if there would be a Muslim too since they were committed to having a gay character, and his response was something along the lines of "diversity isn't just limited to sexuality", but he's not involved anymore.

anyone demanding religious characters in Starfleet needs a cockpunching from Gene Roddenberry's ghost, though. they can go watch The Expanse or something.

Middle-Eastern characters are fine. Khan and Bashir were great. but if someone rolls out a carpet and starts praying in the direction of Earth five times a day, they go out the airlock.

Trekkies like you are cucks. What's the difference between a mudshit and a Muslim mudshit? And you're here whining about diversity without even realizing the hypocrisy. Fucking hilarious.

Try Monarchy.

Monarchy which - if the dream of Yang Wen-Li comes to fruition - will become a constitutional monarchy and one day birth a glorious constitutional republican democracy that unifies all of humanity.

>>>/a/

Is it sad that Star Wars The Old Republic tried it's best to rip that off as they were so creatively bankrupt?

Oy vey.

The three seashells! The Federation is run by a 40 year old man in his pajamas passing laws against bad feelings!

Oh fucking shit. This is doa.

The only way to make a non-boring TNG game would be something based on the episode Conspiracy.

I imagine the mudshit will be the least of the problem the show faces.

I'm rather curious how they'll shove in space Nazis into the setting.

You realize that's not actually how economics works right? Star trek indeed has energy credits or other currencies like gold pressed latinum. How do you think they take services or make purchases like a cocktail drink or bed and stay in a planet like Risa? Do you actually believe they give shit away for free? Lol fucking idiot.

The ship wrights and ship construction crew DON'T get to co-own, pilot, crew, or captain any ships they build. They do it for porkie… I mean the federation.

Star trek is more of a fascist natsoc society. And you didn't realize it even as you held it up as a shining example. You shouldn't be telling people to go to Holla Forums, you are a closet Holla Forums.

Does Star Trek count as military sci-fi?

I mean, it's weird….Starfleet would be like the Foreign Service, and Peace Corps were combined with the JSDF?

They use credits so they can negotiate/do trade with the thousands of other aliens in the galaxy who still use money, but nobody on Earth gives a shit about them.

It's debatable in my opinion. Yeah, they have a command structure, very powerful weapons, but any sort of military action is usually for self defense. Starfleet is basically the State Department in space with guns.

Yeah they do. Is that a better way to get shit done?

If you owned a company would you design the HR department, Sales & Marketing, R&D, IT, etc. with a strict structure for following orders, and discipline with commanders, lieutenants etc. to report to?

I was never in the military so I'm wondering if this can make things more efficient.

The command structure is clearly militaristic rather than corporate. The State Department is not structured like the military.

It's been already made (sort of). It was pretty good back in the day.

Oh lord, the point is Star Trek just goes "space magic; don't got to explain shit" to ignore the fact that there is no actual functioning socialist or capitalist system addressed. IT IS FUCKING FANTASY.

All you have to do is go "not real capitalism, workers don't own the means of production" as ship builders aren't exactly helming the fucking bridge. It is STILL a fascist national socialist system. One where the military is clearly the one making decisions and the laborers either get compensated for ship building, or stay home and say "fuck you nigga, I aint going to build a ship you end up controlling. Gonna go home and suck on replicated food".

Essentially, your entire economic theories rely on a fucking replicator. Forget trying on how to power it with energy, how to get replicators produced, how to install them, how to fucking program them for different dinners, and etc.

This is why socialist tend to be the dumbest fucking idiots in existence.

Programming the replicators is not a real complaint. Plenty of people post free recipes or computer code on the internet. Energy is so cheap it is probably given away for free to power the replicators. Remember they have fusion power too. Seawater is basically energy in that case. Free power. Starfleet and the military government only care what the population thinks in so much it hurts or helps recruitment numbers. Who cares about the plebs when you can give them a few stupid machines, replicators, and they will leave you alone?

...

Watching Enterprise now, honestly, Travis is one of the better actors on the show in my opinion, better than Malcom or Hoshi for sure. He just is playing this wide eyed innocent kid for some reason even though he's actually seen some shit.

i hat klangz

It's not just replicators, it's because they're an interstellar society that can harvest near limitless resources from any number of otherwise uninhabited planets & solar systems which makes the monetary value of every material, nothing.

And also at least by voyager's time period they can have holograms doing menial labor in remote and dangerous locations as well.

The great thing about holograms is that their intelligence can be dialed up or down. Do they ever explore that option in Voyager?

As far as specifically dialing intelligence up or down I can't remember actually. There are a lot that deal with the struggle of being an artificial entity. The best one is where he gets sent to another Star Fleet ship where the new EMH played by Andy Dick even though it should've been a holo-Julian from ds9. Anyway some of the dialogue between them regarding the EMH programming is pretty interesting.

Voyager's killed by a pretty cardboard cast tbqh. The doctor and seven are the only interesting characters on voyager though. There's one where he writes a novel about what it's like being a hologram and overcoming people's stigma and shit. One where he has a holo-family to go holo-home to.

Fuck Kes i hate this bitch so much.

probably most in depth look at moral issues and social rights of holograms would be the episode latent image though.

Is that the episode where she sucks his h-peen and tells him he can't do anything about it because he's less than human but in the end they all learn a valuable lesson?

The episode where the doctor made a hologram family was fucked up, Belonna's an evil bitch.

The doctor creates a family for himself to make himself feel more real and normal and invites the crew to dinner with them, the crew mostly finds the family irritating because they're extremely idyllic, perfect in every way and all love the doctor, Bellonna in particular complains, eventually challenging the doctor to let her re-program it to be more "realistic" and he agrees.

She reprograms them so they all hate him and say he's a shit husband/father, the older son becomes a delinquent and joins a Klingon gang and the little girl breaks her fucking spine and goes into a coma doing gymnastics.

Honestly, I don't know if that episode handled it realistically. He reacted like a damaged program more than a person. I feel like it was meant to add depth and humanize him but instead it looked like he was just glitching.

I always enjoyed how the Doctor basically developed into Frasier Crane as he altered himself.

The episode where he wrote a holo-novel about himself was a mixed bag, his portrayal of his life on the ship was completely dishonest and portrayed the crew in a negative light, the best bit was when Paris reprogrammed it to mock him, complete with a bimbo Seven.

The ending where the story is leaked and it's revealed holograms are watching it all over the galaxy is kind of fucked as it implies a possible future rebellion.

The first time it came up was in the TNG episode where Data played a Sherlock Holmes story and asked the computer to create an adversary who could outsmart him, so it made a super-intelligent Moriarty (who for some reason wasn't evil.)

DS9's handling of Vic Fontaine always kind of bugged me. Why did they let him reprogram himself? Is that standard practice? Seems the Federation would be in a Westworld situation very quickly that way.

Overall Voyager handled it worst though. Some episodes established them as real, others as not real. One episode has the doctor debating the moral repercussions of using a Cardassian version of Dr. Mengele's research, another has Janeway start a real sexual relationship with a character from a Scottish town which she abandons when she reprograms him not to snore leading to a very contrived narrative, another has the minor Vulcan (not Tuvok, the other one) use a Vulcan hologram to (ineffectively) deal with his need to mate. Harry dated at least one hologram, and Seven fucked a hologram of Chakotay, does that count as losing her virginity? Is it rape since Chakotay didn't agree to it? Either way, isn't it totally gross and fucked she wanted to bone him?

And let's not forget the episode in the 50's holodeck narrative where it was established there exist sentient naturally-occurring hologram aliens who think the carbon-based lifeforms are artificial ones.

that was a good one though.
As for looking like the doctor was glitching well he was glitching. He momentarily overcame the glitch when he decided to save Kim's life over the extra cunt but mulling over his past decision caused him to become glitched again and they have to fuck with his memories. They apparently do this several times as they're on a 70>50>20>7 year journey until he eventually figures out how to deal with it/internalize it eventually.

I thought Paris made a holo-recreation of Tuvok's wife for his pan'far sexual needs?

I think with Vic they knew he was just a wise guy and knew he wouldn't take more this his vig.

How'd you know budy?

also I think the biggest problem with a lot of the shit in star trek is that as long as someone is alive despite how bad the physical injury or malady is, if they have a pattern from previous transporter use they can seemingly cure it just fine. Given site to site transport being a thing in later series they could essentially have a damn near immortal fighting force on any vessel given they had a person or AI monitoring life signs.

Could they literally create a body for the Doctor with the teleported by that logic? Taking this idea one step further, they have the ability to create any arbitrary person and use an AI to give it intelligence. Perfect waifu's for everyone.

They could but it would be braindead because only Dr Soongh has thus far created a stable artificial brain.

Given the logic provided from the shows which is sketchy and inconsistent at best I'm not sure what would happen. I'm guessing you could use the transporter to replicate a person's meat so to speak, not sure how you'd get the AI in there without some slew of borg like implants though. Real talk tho fam mobile emitter would be the way to go, and when you're done just detach it and the holo disappears.

stable brain that's self-contained within the body. the holos prove that it the same or similar functions can be handled remotely.

So you're suggesting he would control his body remotely like Weekend at Bernie's 2?

I mean if you got a lump of meat there with all the necessary parts and organs to function but no will or soul or whatever you want to call it the only way I could see gettin an AI to operate the body would be to put some, at the very least cortical implants in there to receive signals from a remote AI. The AI would control the body but not inhabit it.

Do you remember the episode of Voyager when the Doctor took over Seven of Nine's body? The implant allowed the Doctor to control it. If the AI Dcotor is "alive" or "sentient" then implanting Borg tech into replicated bodies would allow the Federation to create unlimited soldiers or waifu's for all.

The Voyager finale was pretty bad about this imo. The doctor's shown to be pretty much immortal and is just lazing about more or less. I liked how he had made a command program for himself and was testing it in the simulators. Could you imagine the camaraderie of a crew full of doctors, most holograms but some corporeal ones for lulz or at least have the capability for making some. Can work through anything, no to minimal life support, if warp shit gets fucked no big deal, if they're lost no big deal. Perfect for star fleet missions or just generally wrecking shit.

They're the master race.

I don't see how there is anyway this thing is not completely fucked. I might actually be a little scared to pirate it though.

I watch this movie whenever I'm in an existential mood, snaps me out of it.

Is there any reason they can't just save backups of the crew to file, and print out a new one if ever they get killed?

I'm wondering if the Bridge Crew game will get a TNG mode in future. Seems like an obvious move.

I think they need to at least have the person's consciousness in tact somehow. There's a ds9 episode where the computer saves patterns of various crew members as holograms due to an error and that the actual live patterns (I'm assuming due to the consciousness) take up a ton of space/memory. The biological pattern seemingly is not so much the issue. At least in so far as I can tell binge watching the entire series these past 6 months.

the obvious move would have been not to set it in the JJ-verse in the first place.

Apparently there's an original series option now too.

#notmyconnie

Yeah pretty sure arrangements of atoms is just like writing a recipe. Oh I'm sorry were you under the impression I was talking about once it's installed for users and not by the physicists setting up replicator commands before being sent to the customers? Did you write your OS system too after you bought your fucking computer? Goddammit plebs tier kids on the internet.

Ah the standards socialist "argument". I was wondering when it would show to refute.

Just as long as no one has to harvest and refine said resources. Or design and engineer automatons to do said work. It's fantasy you fucking faggot. They don't have explain shit. Tell me why would an engineer just create an android like Data and not just allow himself to collect said resources and trade it himself and corner a now non-existent market with no competitors?

...

The Federation makes no sense, just like any other leftist masturbatory fantasy, chief among them the Culture.

It's like leftists are mentally stunted to the point they have to deliberately ignore human nature for their shitty social models to be even remotely feasible.

Socialism parallels with religion in the medieval ages. Instead of understanding science, they believed in miracles and punishment by god back then.

Socialist instead of understanding human nature such as greed being also a motivator and not the same thing as thievery, simply rely on belief that their religion will create a utopia.

They don't understand what is money, the need for profit motivation, overhead expenses, and the need for many services provided by the private sector.

They believe in separation of church and state; but can't make the same relevation connection of separating economic activity and state.

To be honest, money is being created out of nothing constantly. The private sector are a bunch of cucks working for money when the elite create it out of nothing. Glorification of business and the private sector is a meme to distract people from the theft of their purchasing power by the elite. Why do you think industries across the entire economy are consolidating? Cheap credit fuels it. When you run a communist monetary system, aka The Federal Reserve, the economy consolidates and starts to look rather commie.

Yes, but I mean they LITERALLY have no clue what money is. This is proven each time every one of them blame currently fucked monetary policy as being "capitalist". They are pretentious clueless simpletons.

Money is simply an agreed medium of exchange to facilitate trade between people. Some communist and socialist think they can get rid of it because "muh Star Trek did it". They can't do away with money anymore than they can stop a person trying to trade some eggs for some vegetables aka bartering. All money is, is an agreed upon medium between much more than two people trading. That way you don't HAVE to have exactly the item and its quantity that you need to have in order to successfully barter with another person. They also think our current fiat currency are "le ebil" capitalist systems.

Imagine if someone was retarded enough to blame the gas when they keep speeding, then he turns around and keeps arguing with mechanics that it's the gas not his lead foot that makes him go fast, and then tells people that he's smart in mechanics. That's how stupid socialists generally are in economics and monetary policy.

Everyone right now can easily and quickly start using real and honest money like gold and silver coins right now if they feel they are being exploited, but it is ILLEGAL to do so because of the "elite" (the fucking large government socialist love) will lock your ass up. If you start a business and pay your employees in gold and silver coins because it is good money, you will be locked up for "tax evasion". Money can be used in China, North Korea, the US, and etc regardless of the economic system they have. It isn't a glorification of business, it is the socialist system we have that involves itself in the economy, dictates monetary policy through the use of force, and has authorized the federal reserve system to be "in control of the money supply".

And until that money power is broken working is a scam. So is running a business. I would go so far as to say that every rich person in America is a criminal complicit in the criminal Federal Reserve system. Nobody has any legitimate claim to their property or wealth because you can't prove that the money used to pay for it was not printed out of thin air. For example, the FED was printing money and injecting it into the stock market all through Obama's presidency. Those gains are not real but many people made money from this. The constitution calls for gold and silver money for this very reason. A communist monetary system demands a communist solution, purges.

Or starvation. They're big on that too.

What is Monsanto and the consolidation of the food industries. Kraft wants to merge with Unilever. Our "capitalist" society is already consolidating the food supply for control.

I'm not seeing capitalist countries starving though. That's one big difference between communism and sanity.

That is only because of the ebt system.

Do Paramount and CBS even exactly know who owns what?

Is this a joke? You have any idea how many people are starving & homeless in the USA?

lel

wow how did nobody catch this…

I mean even on CBS' side

I'm pretty sure that presently CBS owns the "brand" - which essentially means they own the franchise. Paramount merely has the rights to use the Star Trek IP to produce feature films. They also own the back catalog of previous feature films and have some distribution thingy for Star Trek on television, but don't control Star Trek on TV at all, from a production point of view.

I have no idea about the reciprocity of IP, to be honest. Some lawfag would have to chime in. I don't know if when Paramount creates original content based on Star Trek, if the original parts automatically belong to CBS, too, and sort of "feed-in" to the collective IP that CBS controls or if it essentially creates a "film layer" of Star Trek characters, plots, visual assets, etc. that sit atop CBS's Star Trek stuff. If that's the case, nu-Trek essentially becomes a fork and CBS would have to pay Paramount (forever?) if they ever wanted to un-fuck the canon and properly reboot it using elements from JJ Abram's bullshit action flicks.

It's another reason why the films aren't absolutely canon, in my opinion. As much as I like a lot of the TOS films from the 80's, in the end they are two separate fiefdoms that only ever respected canon because they thought it was in their interest and they happened to bring-over people from the TV operation to make the film stuff. As soon as Paramount believed there was money in scrapping 40 years of tradition and lore and telling everyone except Leonard Nemoy to fuck off, they did.

Star Trek, from its very creation, was a shared deal. Gene Rollercoaster made a deal with the devil to create it, partnering with Desilu to produce it. The real tragedy is that the suits offered to sell him the entire franchise, which would have given him (and presumably his heirs) sole control, back in the early 70's after TOS was canceled and they thought it was dead weight, but good ole' Gene turned it down because the nigger couldn't be bothered to come up with $100,000. Then, Star Wars happened and the rest is history. I Imagine it was that bad decision that caused him to ultimately give up on his creation.

Word to all you artfags and writers: if you ever lose the rights to your shit, never turn down the opportunity to own your creations outright again. Sell an organ if you have to. Betraying your muse has consequences… but refusing to make amends with her when you have the opportunity will haunt you. For creative faggots, there is no MGTOW with the muse…

Good lord. This is why everyone laughs at you idiots.

The constitution calls for gold and silver money. Federal Reserve fiat is not money. They can change the value of the dollar but can not change the value of gold. An ounce is an ounce. The rich are criminals because they support the FED, a communist monetary system. Where is the outrage against the FED among the rich? They get their bribes to stay silent by placing their money into "investment" vehicle which the FED pumps up with printed dollars. The rich are complicit in the theft of the purchasing power of the dollar. And normalfags with 401ks too. The constitution calls for gold and silver money for a reason. Nobody is entitled to their money, property, or power and privileged that this bad money has given them. Keep being a normal fag.

Its amazing how hard you're dancing around the jews. The fed, just like every (((national))) bank, is a jewish institution, dividing unearned money nepotistically amongst themselves. Its not the rich, in fact, most american owned business are helping trump change it. It has been from the days of Jackson, and it will be until they crash the economy again and whites chimp out once more.

Actual Star Trek Discovery Discussion

Actual Star Trek Discovery Discussion

There are plenty of gentiles collaborating with ((( them ))) if it makes them a buck. Don't blame everything on ((( them ))). People like Bill Gates have spent billions of his own money on evil trash like Common Core. Gates will not subject his own kids to this 'wonderful' new education system. The Waltons, the Walmart family, helped push for the offshoring of American jobs. A move so bad they had to get into the grocery business because sales were slowing because their customer's had no jobs! People get outraged over mentally ill men in dresses not allowed into female restrooms, where is that same outrage over the money? Rich goys are taking their bribes too. Every illegal immigrant and non-white exists in America because a businessman gives them a wage. Rich white Americans can change it if they want but are comfortable with the status quo. As long as they get a nice return on their "investments" like a proper "gentleman".

Nobody cares about fucking star tracks, nerd.

...

so report the thread for being off-topic here on Holla Forums

Oh and what type of society do you call it where the federation is pretty much the only organization you see that inhabits the entire planet? All they need is a fucking Fuhrer.

When the propaganda says everyone is working for "the greater good" but in reality it's a totalitarian government ruled by a small group of elites. AKA Communism.

lol

I understand that the Federation is huge and has hundreds or thousands of planets and species, but I don't like that Discovery is going to create a new race just for their gay plug character.

Think about it, there are already dozens of Trek species that were underutilized, underdeveloped, or even who just appeared in one fucking episode. I think ignoring them just so the writers don't have to pay attention to continuity is lazy and pathetic.

Enterprise actually tried to fix this by delving into Vulcan, Andorian, Denobulan, and Klingon culture a little more. I'm disappointed that we won't get a tall sexy blue Andorian security officer, but to be honest the writers would have dumbed her down and fucked it up anyway.

How is this series going to work? Autistic fans have been whining about new Trek versions before the launch of TNG (b-but he's bald!) and Enterprise (How can you have Trek without a Federation?), are the complaints legitimate this time around?

The only thing that truly bodes poorly for STD is that it's being produced at all, in 2017, in the current political climate, to promote some who-gives-a-fuck streaming platform. Just about everything about TNG was ill-conceived and the show turned out good in the end. Either the writing will be good or it won't, and it's Trek, so even if it eventually becomes good it probably won't start that way.

Star Trek: Enterprise used CGI to display some fun space battles. I am hopeful that STD will at least have some fun space battles even if everything else is AIDS. Deep Space Nine's battle are terrible because it seems like they copy and pasted models from TOS, TNG, and the movies. The battle in ENT to destroy the Xindi weapon at the of season 3 is probably the best battle outside of Star Trek II. Also, First Contact had a pretty good battle.

They should have gotten this autismo cutie to star in STD as a Vulcan. She would have been perfect. No acting required.

Is that you, IHS?

the show's initials are STD, it's literally pozzed from start to end. it's bryan fuller's half-assed attempt at normalizing homosexuality. you should have no hope whatsoever for this show.

I'm pretty sure homosexuality has already been normalized throughout the west.

he will be attempting to normalize homosexuality with his entire ass I can assure you

Bryan Fuller wants to be pegged by a black woman while being called "ensign whiteboy".

does anyone have a list of th episodes of the original and TNG episodes i should skip?

Didn't know they did one for TOS or TNG. Only one i know of is for DS9

jammersreviews.com/st-tng/

Neat. Thanks for the link.

All of them.

Fascism is a different thing from monarchy, user.

Fuller's openly gay

Disgusting, I did not know that. I assumed he was another cucked liberal.

Over on plebbit's /r/startrek they call Star Trek Discovery, DSC and not STD. I feel they should be corrected but am too lazy to do anything about it.
