Did you just skip the episode where they talk about how he raped her repeatedly? Or do you emphasis too much with the Purple Man? I know the comic is probably different, but they directly talk about him fucking her while she was under his control in the show.

Dude I don't know what your beef with Jessica Jones is. She's flawed but it's presented as a bad thing. She's never held up as a role model because she isn't. She is a colossal fuck up and the show acknowldges it. If there was any big gripe I would have against the show it would be the final episodes where Purple man escapes for bullshit reasons and Jessica and her buddies just fuck around.
Skye on the other hand I can get why you don't like her. In season 1 she is insufferable. I think she improves a little bit in the later seasons but they try so much weird shit with her like the whole Inhuman thing that I don't like. Then again I can say that about the show itself where they fuck around with a bunch of different ideas.

jessica jones is the least likable character in her show, which is criminal regardless of whether or not it's capeshit. i unfortunately never read the alias comic, i should probably get around to it, but i was under the impression that jones starts out as a happy go lucky "i'm a super hero now" character with the jewel costume. in the show, flashback young jessica is a colossal and unlikable cunt, and this is before her her family died in a car accident. jones is introduced as a cunt, is a cunt in flashbacks, never isn't a cunt, and thus nothing is lost. i don't even remember if kilgrave fucked her before telling her to fuck off, but even if he did, it's not like she wasn't a psycho bitch beforehand.
add to that, kilgrave is probably the best villain to ever come out of marvel on the disney end inb4 loki, kingpin, or zemo, has a solid motivation, is believably sympathetic for a sociopath, and it's really no competition as to why jones get piled high with hate.

yeah I agree Jessica doesn't develop much as a character. I don't think it's as bad as some people make it out to be but there are some serious flaws to it. And you're correct in your assumption that Jessica Jones starts out as a happy go lucky super hero then gets brought down by purple man and she recovers. The only thing I was a bit puzzled on was purple man. Was he always that nasty or did his parents make him that way? They portray his parents as doing the right thing but still it just seems like in the later episodes they keep making things up as they go along.

I didn't make this thread but a while back there was a guy asking for advice on his characters for a comic he was making. It had some good advice on how to write, draw characters if you want to look. I think the thread was called "Diversity Sucks".

If people only make retarded clickbait threads, the whole board will be retarded clickbait. Read a storytime thread, watch cartoons with people, or make threads for actual discussion. Her eye-rolling and lecturing suggest that she is "supposed" to be mostly right, I think. People sometimes call her out, but mainly only black people can really make it stick, because it's that kind of show. I don't think e.g. decapitating that autistic white guy's corpse is supposed to be really bad any more than Zach picking on Screech is bad.

His whole deal is that he's a good-lucking and charming white male who can easily talk you into sleeping with him, but then he turns out to be totally creepy and rapey after you get to know him. That's his superpower. That's the ultimate form of evil in that universe.

when has a program ever successfully had a protagonist that wasn't remotely likable? when has being a "terrible person" ever prevented a character from being likable? i'm sure anons can think up a whole list of Holla Forums material of "terrible people" protagonists that they found likable and compelling.
jessica jones fails because the main character isn't either. she loses nothing, and so she can't gain anything. there is never a doe eyed girl with super powers ready to show new york all the good that she can do who then gets demolished by a super villain. any idea of a happy jewel hero is dragged through the mud in that shit costume cameo. jones is a bad character because she never changes, and her static character is shit. when she has a family, she's a cunt. after she gets super strength in a car accident that kills her family, she's a cunt. when she has a bff for life in a child star raised by narcissist, she's a cunt. when her awkward as fuck shit taste in women loser with a heart of gold neighbor living with his sister puts her on a pedestal, she's a cunt. the only person she treats remotely decently is the druggie neighbor, and she still manages to treat him like shit. at no point am i rooting for jessica because there's nothing to root for.

it's better than that. he's a man who can talk anyone into doing anything. his power set is the actual correct answer to that age old playground question "what super power do you wish you had?" when dumb kids want to be strong or fly and the marginally less dumb kid (you) thinks he's clever because he wants to be immortal like wolverine, when the real answer is "i want everyone to always listen to me and do as i say"
they made it work because that's the exact kind of character that would be made by a lifetime of getting exactly what they want: a complete sociopath, and that's compelling writing.
he was the show, and now that he's dead, i have no interest in watching it anymore.

Dare I say it, but I think I liked the show JJ more than the comic (I read it last year for the first time before the show). They are a little too-quick to quickly ramp up her combat abilities when the plot needs it rather than let her fail. And it's overboard with the cameos - some are fine to connect it to the rest of the Marvel universe (since that's sort of the initial gimmick) but like all marvel cameos they overdo it until it gets silly and everyone stops by for a visit.

And thirdly, occasionally the comic HAS to make a point about something feminist sporadically - it's jarring like a commercial break in the middle of scenes where it's just rammed in there for no reason (well, maybe the writer was trying to impress a chick.. I don't know). It's as if they have this mental retardation in that they can't think of a women being interested in anything unless it comes back to feminism, so that's how they're going to get more readers to take note.

The show at least didn't make the above so incredibly obvious and let the character fail a lot.
