nah, just you

I use GIMP all the time. It just werks and my files are never corrupted by some malware ransomware. Free software or death!

i cast my vote for gimp

Freetards triggered

Goddamn winfags being winfags

The fact that there's a license agreement at all is evidence enough that you're not getting in trouble for stealing, but getting in trouble for leaving the concentration camp.

...

...

Only weebs seem to use it; When I was doing basic techsupport for clubs in HS (~3-4 years ago) -- that's what all the animeclub fags were using.

Just like only furry porn artists use Photoshop and SAI right?

...

Have you seen Krita's mascot?

What's your problem with Kiki?

the creepy octopus eyes tbh

Don't really care either way... but Kiki is certainly furrfaggy.

Gimp is for editing, Krita is for drawing.

Can't say I agree; for one thing, there are hardly any lewds of her.

it's a feature™

Octopod eyes don't even look like that.

Better, user?

Yet*.

If Krita ever catches on with the 'Sai Crowd', they're incoming. It's like the perfect design for weebs to throw into lewds; It's basically a loli furry.

How does the "sai crowd" differ from the other digital art communites?

Anyway, Kiki seems to just be a cute mascot, as far as I can tell. TysonTan certainly has never done anything remotely lewd with her.

Both programs can be used for both drawing and editing with satisfactory results.

Perhaps. But Krita is objectively better for digital painting; it also has some technical advantages over the Gimp.

Am I the only one who finds Krita very unoptimized?
It chugs at what Sai doesn't bat an eye at.

Granted I've only tested the Windows version on this PC months ago, so can anyone confirm that it's just the Windows version with poor performance?

They have no excuse not to either; it already has shortcut presets for Sai and Photoshop along with saveable window layouts.

The windows version chuggs on Intel graphics currently.

Try it again, they've ported it to Qt5 since then

I assert that 75+% of rule34 & like degeneracy, comes from those hollowed few that dare use Sai and related memeware. Not saying categorically those who use Sai draw lewds -- but that there's a weird culture appeals that seems to pull in those of the like.

I've never used Krita on Windows, but on Linux -- as of 3.x I've had MUCH better preformance. Namely as it seems rendering is now pushed to not being directly drawn to screen but some switcheroo with a preview layer or some wizardy. AMD chipset on my laptop & desktop.

The Appimage version works fine for me under intel and Nvidia under Linux. No chuggs, performance is fine. I have no AMD cards to test though.

Are these things just memes?

Yes. And I don't know how they manage to produce hype around all these tard formats.

Sounds handy for applications like Krita, LibreOffice and Blender though...

Not to mention having multiple versions of a particular program can also be useful.

Honestly, that's the job of the package manager. Most PMs suck (especially apt) and don't allow it, but Portage has slots, which are a restricted implementation of that.

I don't really see these as competing directly to traditional package managers. Maybe .deb and RPM's days are numbered though.

I have an even better idea. Why not put every package in its own btrfs sub-volume?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought AppImage does not rely on systemd, unlike Snap and Flatpak?

Pretty good idea if btrfs was stable.

Does somebody remember that FOSS artist who drew a comic about a young witch in Krita, I think? His works were CC'd and pretty cute (although writing was kinda bland), but I don't remember anything else about him.

David Revoy, does Pepper and Carrot, the latter of which is in the Krita comics posted above by and , peppercarrot.com/

That was it. Thanks, user

I don't even use Photoshop for anything other than file composition and a few custom brushes any more. Krita is fantastic.

app images are great for certain distributions which insist on having ancient packages though *cough*debian*cough*

Having a recent version of libreoffice etc without having to compile that shit by hand is nice

Why are you using such a distro if ancient packages are a problem?

...

Someone should slap an "autism speaks" logo on there kinda like the "Artist's Choice" one

Never heard of SAI.

Expecting it to be some beautiful but faggy mac software.
NOPE it's as ugly as GIMP.

Or this. :^)

Because then you're fucked when Tux3 goes mainline

They're always interviewing SJWs and literal autists, it makes me a little concerned.

I tired, man.

What the fuck? Does somebody know where could I look up what the fuck's happening on the Debian repos?

Debian can't get its shit together so you need to use the AppImage off the site.

Hoh boy, he fell for the meme
Debian testing is shit:
It's not a rolling release (hurr durr, 6+ months 'freeze' period). Many packages are still rather old, compared to 'stable' fedora for example. And the best part: a fuckload of packages is simply missing. Available for oldstable, stable, unstable, even experimental sometimes. But not for testing, go enable the sid repos with a lesser priority and see dependencies go bonkers

Use debian stable or use another distro alltogether

Not to mention its low priority for security patches. The Debian Security Team concentrates on stable, and security patches tend to make their way into sid because of the frequent updates. Testing is the least secure.

...

He just needs to use unstable, testing is not meant for non-testing purposes.

tracker.debian.org/pkg/calligra
Newer version was uploaded to sid recently, it'll probably be a while.

You using Windows with Intel graphics? You might want to try the unstable release.

Kiki is not "sexy". She's a cute. A CUTE!

But it really is shit. So shit that I don't even know where to begin explaining how shit it is. I'd love to ditch PS but nothing even comes close.

Remind us what's wrong with Krita plus the photoshop config presets it gives you.

She's a filthy whore.
You're half right though, she not sexy, unless you thing garbage is erotic.

Well, at least you tried.

Not the same user but Krita keeps crashing for me. I'm using 2.9 because it crashes slightly less, but I still get the occasional random scenario where the window just disappears from my screen with no error or anything.

As for features (and ignoring the obvious lack of decent text tool), there needs to be a quick way to duplicate layers and selections. It's a pain in the asshole to copypaste stuff around in Krita because you have to duplicate the layer manually every time and then merge it back. In PS you can just hold alt and drag a layer and it will create a duplicate where ever you drag it, or ctrl+alt(?) and drag a selection to create a duplicate of it's contents.

There's also no very good way to transform layers non-destructively, because transform masks cause all kinds of problems and are pretty clumsy to use. In PS you can just right click and turn it into a smart layer and it will behave just like any other layer while retaining the original pixel/layer data.

I actually do use the appimage for Krita on my computers because I run Slackware but also don't want KDE. It's nice.

But I AM using Sid.

Huh, glad to see it will at least come back eventually.

Homosexuals get out.

Not sure what being gay has to do with hating an over sexuallized tree rat. I mean, look at this shit:

Krita 3.0 is much better about that stuff. No more webkit bullshit creeping into my system uninvited.

I'm looking and my dick is getting harder.
Was this your intent?

I want to sniff that squirrel's butthole.

...

...

this. gimp is garbage. doesn't work as a paint replacement and doesn't work as a photoshop replacement

Yes. Fat. Compare to classic Kiki.

nigga what
that makes no sense

>when your image editor is so dead it's approaching two major versions behind its own GUI toolkit

Kiki dump?

Hope somebody saved the lewds from the old Krita thread...

...

...

These lewds?

...

Human Kiki is best Kiki!

...

I think they just interview whoever the fuck asks for it. They've had some real low quality shit sometimes.

...

What does webkit have to do with it? It's the KDE base system - I don't use it at all and I'm not autistic enough to pick out the bare minimum to make it work.

Using Mint with AMD graphics.

I want to draw on a computer but I will only ever have a mouse. Do any faggots achieve success with a mouse?

Maybe they're aiming to have a userbase made up entirely of autists like GoAnimate.

No.
Don't limit yourself if you have talent.

Back then in the 90's and early 2000, tablet was rarely used. Guess what they used to prove their skill in front of computer?

What makes Sai's rendering for lineart superior?
I feel like this is just a bad meme.

Keyboard/joypad pointer movement is always an option

Webkit has nothing to do with Krita, that's the point.

The size of deps clearly triggers people enough to install container bloat on Slackware just to avoid regular KDE packages, but they've already fixed the root of the problem by dumping Qt4.

I've seen pretty good art made with a mouse. Krita also has a special stabilizer that seems pretty good for that purpose.

Nothing.

All the 14 year old girls use Sai so their peers have no reason to even look toward other directions. Long time ago Sai was one of the only if not THE only program with a built in stabilizer, but now a lot of art programs have it.

I've also heard that Sai has a good blending brush, I doubt you wouldn't be able to replicate it in Krita or Manga Studio although having it in by default would be an advantage.

3.x is vastly improved, even though I'm on a windows machine.
