Well imdb died a day earlier

Good riddance, but I was not able to post anything more on my karate fetish to taijiquan12

What I hate the most besides the fact that the cunts closed the boards is people saying "IT WAS YOUR FAULT YOU RACIST BIGOTS DRUMPFLETS, YOUR FAULT THAT IMDB CLOSED THE BOARDS"

Just… fuck these people.

When the fuck did they say that.

Wait, what happened?

Imdb message boards have been shut down. I think that is what talking about

why the fuck would you post on imdb when you have Holla Forums?

Never updated the forum software, a 1995 design can only last so long.

Besides Amazon is broke

I guess people like discussing television

rip

Every time every where

Why the fuck would you post on Holla Forums when you have

well

why the fuck would you post on Holla Forums

I thought you meant the creators.

I hate this stupid meme.

oh fuck off
not everything has to be fucking facebook

I'm getting a headache trying to put myself into a mindset where anything that they are saying makes sense.

millions of voices suddenly cried out in terror, and were suddenly silenced.

Comments like in that pic were posted on almost every movie board before the forum was shut down. Everyone was blaming people for being racists, bigots, sexists, etc.

Perfect.

>this comment was deleted
lel

Wonder how it will hurt the popularity of the site.

Will people really just migrate to the IMDB Faceberg and Twitter to discuss movies?

How long till they remove the user reviews too?

Let's be realistic about this. I think the best part of IMDB was the forum for each movie. 90% of the posts were completely retarded, but after I saw a movie I wanted to search for people who thought like me and see what they thought about the movie. That's what I did after each movie. With IMDB removing the forums and censoring forum posts left and right the consequence is this, I will use their site way way less. I'll only look up how long is a movie, what genre it is, how many people saw it, when it appeared. The very basic info. So I'll just stop using the site that much, if this is what they wanted they've got it. No more visits for you IMDB, just a 10 sec info check.

I wonder if we could make a chan-esque replacement for that function…

oh you precious fucking princesses

I was actually thinking of creating a site where you can comment about movies just like IMDB, you search a movie and you enter the discussion boards. I could've made it at the perfect time and released it today… but I remember I had $10 bucks in my bank account and I simply can't host that shit. An opportunity wasted, back to being neet…

Come on man. I lost my virginity too her

You can get a free openshift or amazon node that would handle the early days until you actually had demand to ask for heavy servers.

Where does it say it's free?

what happened to IMDB exactly?

I'm sure it has nothing to do with the fact that everyone just discusses things on their social media, imageboard, or Reddit of choice these days.

The mid-sized red button in all caps saying SIGN UP FOR FREE…?

… IMDb had message boards?

Maybe you wanna talk about television and movies.

Oh lol, its only 30 days now. I have an account for a long time there (years) and its fully free forever.

Amazon still free tho:
aws.amazon.com/s/dm/optimization/server-side-test/free-tier/free_np/

Shit, my bad. I kept looking down on the page where there's the FAQ usually. Anyway, I haven't worked with services like these before. All I know is some html and javascript, thought I could learn something about databases and pay some hosting company to host my shit.

I'm trying to find a picture of "lightice" but I'm having no luck.
disqus.com/by/lightice/
twitter.com/lightice - I don't think this is the same person.

Triggered, you couldn't imbed a picture faggot, it was text only, you couldn't even read it in flat mode without joining and logging in.

It was full on retard forum software

Does anyone have a archives of any good threads?

fuck pictures. If I want pictures I'll go here
though I agree about the flat mode

iirc the forum is still there, you just cant post now.

The forum disappeared

Just noticed, TMDB still exists, and still has discussions for each individual movie.
themoviedb.org/

THOSE DAM DIRTY TROLLS! HOW DARE THEY DISAGREE WITH ME

Why aren't we using this instead of imdb already?

Don't shit up tmdb with your faggotry.

The layout sucks.

Too late, m8.

Why is a chinese cartoon the top rated movie there?

Top pleb.

I've seen that one in particular, it was mostly style over substance tbh.

It's a simple story told in a pretty way. Would you have liked a more complex story, or something else?

To be the top ranking movie? Yes. But I hardly consider my preferences to be anything but individual.

IMDB has a nice early web 2.0 feeling to it.

The moviedb has a more modern feel to it that's more at home on tablets and phones.

Maybe MovieDB will catch on, the longer name doesn't help, imdb.com vs moviedb.org. The name "imdb" is snappy as fuck.

Well, Stalker by Tarkovsky has a simple story and it's well regarded here.

And yet, dis is it's discussion for it's top rated movie: Your Name..

*And yet, this is its discussion page for its top rated movie: Your Name..

God fucking damn it the interface is complete shit. What is wrong with these retarded web developers? Look at that, it not only takes you more than enough clicks to get to the discussion page in the first place but look at the design.

Nothing simple about Stalker.

It's longer to type, but it's the same amount of syllables and the purpose of the site is in the name. Easier to understand, you don't have to explain it to someone who's never been. When spoken aloud "Moviedb" actually sounds better than "imdb" and requires less mouth movement. MovieDB is a far superior name to imdb (from a marketing standpoint).

I found these alternatives if any are interested:
thetvdb.com/
imdb2.freeforums.net/
moviechat.org/

I disagree, IMDB as well as being snappy is a hook. What's a Facebook and what's a Twitter didn't stop them.

And nothing of value was lost.

Facebook is actually a thing at universities.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Face_book

It started as a university directory, so it actually was a literal online facebook.

Twitter is the sounds birds make and the logo is a bird, it creates a visualizatio…. you know what, fuck it. I'm not going to explain it to you. In your opinion IMDB is better, but moviedb is objectively better from a marketing standpoint. It's all I'm saying.

lol who seriously posts on the imdb forums?
Are you all 12 year olds/dumb mexicans/dumb half-mexicans who also get into youtube flame wars?

What is a good design in your opinion? It looks minimalistic and easily-understandable too me.

How so?

Its minimalist, but it deals with very complicated post-war sentiments that are hard as fuck to express.

Fuck that gay site

Were did you learn the film was about "very complicated post-war sentiments"? A interview Tarkovsky did?

Watching it and reading the novel, and playing the vydias.

Wasn't Stalker originally based off of a novella with a different name than after the film the author of the novella wrote the rest of Roadside Picnic?

I don't post there but I always enjoyed readings threads

I remember when CNN's comment section got closed down 10 years ago because people kept calling out on the jews.

Not sure if I understood what you mean. Roadside Picnic is a novel that predate the movie, which inspired the movie. Then they wrote a proper Stalker novel, based on an early version of the movie's script which had a different story.

F

I've been using Wikipedia more for movie info instead of IMDB.

imdb was only useful for the forums as a way to guage people's opinions on a movie or show without having to worry too much about some paid reviewer's input. Rottentomatoes showed how biased they were with the force awakens fiasco. Without the forums, there's no longer any real reason to visit imdb ever.

Well now you have the user reviews where everything is either a 1 or 10 out of 10.

fug

yeah rip

also there were a bunch of B and C movies were people involved in the making of the film actually posted

We have surpassed 1984.

without imdb we might never know the true story of the production of Spookies

It had great commentary by random fellas with decent theories
Also a gossip machine in many movies with iconic actresses
Vanessa Redgrave had her shit pushed on plenty of times and her movies

ripip

Good bye MoviePoopShoot

Mexicans killed imdb…

People like this exist? I thought it was a meme.

maybe you wanna talk about your favorite television series without endless posts about maisie williams

the forum was more retarded than Holla Forums

thats a lot of retardness

but it did always exposed the stuff with fake ratings

I despise websites that are made with tablets in mind. They're so uncosy.

Of course they exists. They are the cucks who rise their wives' children

Hit me pretty hard to be honest. Those forums were my first forrays into shitposting as a literal child.
