PaintGo developer didnt leave any way to contact him other than his /dev/ threads on 16chan and now its gone. Anyone knows how to contact him? It was an amazing project and im working on implementing it. He mentioned an easy way to add an animation aspect but didnt go in depth with it.

any help is appreciated.

Sorry about that, I totally didn't expect 16chan to be closed for real even if it was sort of dying, because it was alive before people actually used it. The problem is that there's legit no other way to contact me because there's nothing that I check consistently besides my deviantart and Holla Forums doesn't have any kind of /dev/ board that other people would be aware of. One thing 16chan was really good at was exposing small/new boards that are being used, plus it was slow enough that I could see replies from the front page.

I meant that I came up with a way to add animation, as in how to program it in without rewriting a completely separate layer/canvas drawing method and making everything complicated. I haven't added it and I'm probably not going to add it in a while, because there's much more important things to do first. And also I've been doing game dev lately so I haven't worked on it period.

Thanks for making it available. In a few weeks I'll probably have time to finally mess around with it.

theres an attempt to make a new instance of Infinity Next, discussion in this thread: people are gathering on #nextchan at irc.rizon.net
yeah that was pretty nice. i liked looking at silly smaller boards and posting in them, and i actually got responses on a website that was a fraction of the size of Holla Forums.

could you post your deviantart then? I dont understand why its so difficult to contact you. Do you really not use any email for anything at all? Btw what other more important stuff is it that you plan on working on for it?

You don't seem to understand how much I value your project (especially because its open source) I am getting a job mainly so i have a monthly fund to donate to projects and PaintGo is on the top3 of projects the fund will go to

also what kind of game dev are you working on? I'm interested in following your work on that as well since it seems to be something your also passionate about and if you did so well on PaintGo im sure great stuff will come out from your gamedev work.

(also i might have some musicians and artists who might want to work with you on a game)

I don't really want to get a reputation.

Because I just like to work on fun projects to pass the time, I'm not out to get or achieve anything. If I were to follow my email, I would pretty much be following it exclusively for you because there's nothing I use it for other than registering accounts.

I didn't finish the new brush system yet, you can't actually create new brushes or adjust the settings yet besides size/opacity. Other features that are important on my to-do list include text tool, selection tools & cut/paste, proper docker resizing, layer scaling/flipping/(rotation?), fixing undo/redo.

I don't think I would be comfortable taking donations or involving other people. I can't focus on a single thing for a very long time, sometimes I go months without working on PaintGo or any of the million things I have going on.

This is really just something I do for the fun of it, I don't think I'm skilled or knowledgeable of the subject at all. I can't even program with anything other than javascript and html5.

My main project is a Terraria-like, I'm currently working on completely redoing the engine to be more flexible so there isn't much to show at the moment. Webm related is from earlier this year.

I don't have a blog for any of my programming stuff or anything like that, but I occasionally post at the agdg thread in Holla Forums, assuming I'm working on games and not drawing. >>>Holla Forums10663697

does the game work in html5 as well?

will you have a blog or twitter or something for your game development?

yes

no. I tried to make a tumblr but it's impossible with uMatrix and google blocks, and I don't like twitter because you can't explain anything with the character limit. I don't know what else there even is.

I don't exactly feel the need to have a blog before I have a game in any state resembling completion. Until then I'm content just posting in /agdg/.

the game looks like it would be really nice as an action platformer with a keyboard plus Z\X combo for attacking etc. like a megaman type game with the fun action platformer fighting for bosses\levels and then option of building for the home zone

could these games be played multiplayer through html5 with others that visit the website its hosted on?

Straight into the trash.

Get the fuck off my tech if you think this crap is acceptable any time after the customization revolution of the '90s.

i just meant keyboard keys for nice quick fighting without having to aim with your mouse. like a metroid vania game with a keyboard. zxcv is fine too but i would use a pocketCHIP as a bluetooth controllor for it probably. assuming i 3d print a nice dpad for it

Have they even started shipping those yet? They just seem to keep expanding the release date.

it could have a lobby mode that plays like Level Up! (newgrounds.com/portal/view/519030 ) but you could also build and talk with others a multiplayer lobby place like the monster hunter training ground where along with premade quests, users could setup challenges to challenge other players so whoever could beat a megaman 8 type level where winner is decided by who beats stages quicker. winner could win a cryptocurrency token thats embedded directly to the game ui.

yeah theyve shipped a chunk. ive been seeing more and more pictures on their twitter of new mods and people who 3d print cases\keyboards\dpads for them

you can use them with a sim card to make calls with a pretty cheap mod and earbuds with a mic

Good taste.

I don't care if saying this gets me laughed out of the thread, but the only mainstream/general-purpose forum I'm aware of that doesn't try to rape you with JS/captchas is gamefaqs, but even there times are changing

It can function as a cell phone? For reals?

yeah people modded it to work with SIM cards. Next Chip Co features cool mods weekly blog.nextthing.co/learn-how-the-community-created-a-pocketc-h-i-p-cell-phone/

i wanna use my pocketchip to play PaintGo developers games on and to use PaintGo on. PocketCHIP also has a touchscreen that works with any pencil so you can draw on it nicely

The plan is strictly sandbox exploration/building, especially building. You pretty much need mouse control for this one because the world will be procedural (thus enemies and bosses will be unpredictable) and building requires precise "aim".

I'm not sure how this game would lend itself to large scale multiplayer considering the plans I have, but I'd like to have similar MP as Terraria/Minecraft eventually.

I have other game projects that are multiplayer, including a few "mmo" ideas. And yes, you could play it by just going to the website, similar to Runescape except without plugins. It's the same idea as the multiplayer in PaintGo was, except you move characters instead of drawing lines. You send messages from server to user and vice versa, what you can do with it is only limited by your imagination.

ah thats pretty intersting

so with the syncthed multiplayer html5 could you make an online karoake game? with lyrics downloaded from a place like Genius to build a nice database of songs to choose from

uh, I guess so, I'm not sure what kind of game that would be.

I don't know how you'd get lyrics from another website, you'd have to do that server-side which I'm not very familiar with.

would you know how to make an html editor like Macaw macaw.co/ in html5 like PaintGo?

an open source nice gui based html\css\js editor would be really nice

Checked

Thanks, these are hilarious. At first I was like, omg, its comp sci pr0n, but then I was like, octal!

...

I wouldn't want to. I only like doing things that I personally want to exist. The games I do are the games I wish I could play, I made PaintGo because all the online oekaki/paintchats sucked dick when I started it.

As for whether I could, possibly. It doesn't look like a simple project to undertake though.

ok, please atleast use this thread to keep us updated on your gamedev or any other project your working on. (i know u post to the agdg thread but that has other posts i dont wanna go through)

any update on anything?

I've been terribly busy having an existential crisis lately so no. Been mostly writing and drawing.

Honestly I'm having hard time understanding why anyone would care, I'm sure there's a lot of people with more interesting projects and more skills to work on them and a less chaotic work ethic.

Have you seen how shitty the rest of the graphics world is? Right now the only half decent option is Krita and you need a fucking supercomputer to run that. This half-baked javascript code dump is more useful than all the "drawing" garbage tech demos on F-Droid (and possibly Google Play too) combined.

do you post any of your drawings anywhere? interested in seeing those. The cave story drawing is fantastic.

and yeah your project is something thats extremely lacking in the graphics world and the fact that it runs in html5 will allow it to be used for some really interesting projects im working on with some people.

Sort of, that's why I started PaintGo. But html5 applications can hardly interact with your computer's filesystem at all, and I don't know if there's anything I can do if you run into memory/performance problems with large canvases or animation because JS doesn't really give you that kind of control.

I wouldn't count on this ever being a competitor to Krita and the likes.

I'd rather not my gallery. The quote painting is very unusual of me anyway.

It doesn't have to be. There's a billion users out there where a half-broken tuxpaint .apk is currently the only serious competition.

Hey, just FYI,
Infinity Next is slowly being fixed up at:
nextchan.org

and the pocketchip doesnt have anything that runs well on it. i wonder if PaintGo would run well on it since you can use a pencil on its touchscreen it would be nice to draw\animate on it

just found this

Sorry, but then you are a retard. It was managed by Null the Site Goblin, what the fuck did you expect?

Josh did nothing wrong

Can't argue with those trips.

I'm just concerned with anyone putting too much faith on it/me.

Yeah I'm aware

I don't know if the pressure sensitivity works with anything other than wacom tablets, it only works thanks to the browser plugin that wacom drivers install for you. There's no other way to read tablet-specific input with js at the moment that I know of, though I've heard of pressure being standardized in html/js in the future.

why?

I dont think the pocketchip has pressure sensitivity like a wacom regardless. I'd just wanna use it to make flip book animations like easypaint or the nintendo ds animations.

also, have you check out superpowers-html5.com/index.en.html

There's MyPaint which is a really nice Sketchbook clone. Haven't used it with a tablet though.

Because I'm utterly unreliable. That's what I mean when I say "sometimes I go months without working on my projects". If you put my life on a graph, 15% of it would be "doing something productive", and 5% of that would be "working on PaintGo".

I'm happy to share my toys with other people, but I don't want anyone to start depending on it for anything. If it paid my bills it might be a different story, but it doesn't and probably never will. I may care more if I knew many people were using it, but ideally people should take over the code for their own purposes without needing me.

>also, have you check out superpowers-html5.com/index.en.html
No, but I lost half of my interest with that title picture, and the other half during the 20 seconds I browsed the website and failed to figure out what this "Superpowers" actually is.
From what I can gather it's some kind of a html5 game engine? I prefer to understand exactly how the program works, if I wanted to use an engine/library I would've already used three.js or pixiJS or something.

Do they fuck

So you draw furry porn. I see.

why dont you even have a email for your coding projects?

could you make PaintGo work with Meguca? im sure it will be appreciated there
meguca.org/art/1801375

probably because he doesn't want to be bothered by the lone autist who uses his software

All I get from that link is a blank page with an animation at the bottom

are you blocking JS? works for me

This site better be like a videogame because there's no other excuse for this bullshit.

I guarantee a Pajeet wrote this

There, saved you the effort

works fine for me meguca.org/all/

Added a few new things, and fixed a whole bunch of other things. I wanted to make level mockups for game shit, but I didn't know of any good programs for that purpose so I added those things to PaintGo.

Firstly, a rudimentary grid, which isn't in itself interesting. But I also added a sprite brush that can draw sprites. I have a plan for an actual sprite window though, where the sprites would automatically update if modified, and be animated. But doing a sprite brush was much easier.

Also added a paint bucket tool with realtime preview. The preview gets faster or slower depending on how fast each frame completes (tries to aim for 20ms/50fps), so it never really freezes even if the canvas is big and your computer is slow.

Also saving and loading a .pgo file is now pretty reliable, and properly keeps all sprites and layers (although the layer order gets visually messed up for some reason when you load).
