You do realize we still haven't recovered from the 2008 financial crisis right? To put things in perspective, we recovered faster from a civil war and a world war.

Fixit from the European Union is not going to happen unless other countries leave first. For better or worse, the Finnish government will not risk straining relations with western powers since we have rather long border with Russia. Leaving EU is precisely the kind of action our politicians would never, ever be doing of their own will.

Leaving the euro is, however, within possibilities. Euro is simply too harmful for our economy and leaving euro is way less radical an action than leaving the whole EU. Also I believe the support for dropping euro among the population is well over 50% so it's an actual option.

Leaving whole union is not since even if we did have a referendum the result would be crushing defeat for leavers. People have much more positive view of EU than of euro. Therefore it's absolutely fucking idiotic to propose a referendum which would crush all opposition for EU for decades to come.

Somehow I'm not surprised since the main guy behind this proposal is wannabe-politician cuckservative Sebastian Tynkkynen, the leader of True Finns youth organization. The man is an absolute idiot, weak and gay attention whore without too much skill for politics.

As a Finn I'm not sure of this petition thing. All it does is guarantee that after reaching 50,000 signatures, the parliament will have to have a discussion about the topic on whether or not the referendum should be held.

What if they decide no? Do we just start a new petition, wait another six months with even more signatures only to have them say no again?

Finnish farmers literally depend their livings right now based on absurd EU subsidies, they'll be the last to want to leave.

Unless of course it would be guaranteed that by leaving we change back to the Finnish mark and ditch the Euro, this could lead to better price adjustments in the future. But how they would survive the inbetween time is beyond me.
