Okay, time to be serious… I was a fat asian kid growing up… and my favorite hero was Spider-Man… Not because he was of my race or fat… I loved him for his personality and what he stood for… the hardships he endured… So why the fuck do SJWs say shit like this when I tell them about me making a series…
Funny she thought that when the cast for my concept series is an all female cast…
Because SJWs don't get is that nobody gives a fuck about what the race of the character is when it's their ideals that make them stand out. Characters like Spiderman or Superman always spoke out to me because they were people who did good out of the kindness of their own hearts, they didn't want rewards they went out to help people because they knew it was the right thing to do. That's what makes some of these characters resonate with others is because they encourage them to be better people.
But it seems so much like they've lost their way due to this new 'diversity' type of thinking.
Adam Sanders
This is what I've always felt about the diversity issue. It isn't the race that matters, what matters is that they're interesting characters. They can be black, asian, white, latino, native american, polynesian, inuit, south american or whatever as long as they are characters with interesting personalities I'm fine with it.
Brayden Price
Hell I think Diversity has gotten worse than the 70's, 80's, 90's and even early 00's. Maybe it's nostalgia but when I'm rereading these older stories they just have better characters and stories. Now days its far and few betwen.
Jace Sanders
Because they don't care about comics as a storytelling medium, all they see is a hot chick kicking ass and they get upset because that character looks like something that they will never be like.
And instead of creating their own stuff, they just whine and complain about diversity and "representation" because that's all they fucking care about.
Josiah Morgan
Pretty much. And they don't read the comics, they don't care about the writing.
Ultimately they're more shallow and prejudiced than anyone they complain about; they don't care about someone's personality, accomplishments, problems or character, they care about what societal categories they fit into.
Jaxon Jenkins
I agree with that… I don't get why She thinks my friend's deigns are all the same…
Don't know about my character tho… so what do you think, Holla Forums?
Asher Richardson
Because, whether they know it or not, SJWs are actively trying to ruin everything. They seek to ruin anything anyone enjoys because they are bitter assholes. SJWs only wish to socially signal to others and the hip thing to do is enforce "diversity" when it isn't wanted or needed.
Making random characters women, another race, sexuality, mental disorder, or whatever doesn't really define a character well. Defining characters off of these traits all fail the Plinkett test of "describe a given character without using their name, physical description, or job" The better you can do it, the better character they are. Race is not something you would use in this test. SJWs use race, sexuality, whatever the fuck as lazy writing techniques to make it seem like there is any depth to the bullshit they "write" or demand written.
Cameron Rodriguez
Worse of all she told me to look at Steven Universe for "inspiration" for more Diverse designs… even if the art style won't work for the tone of my project
Nolan King
I'll be honest this crap is alot of the reasons why I don't use human characters for my projects.
Liam Allen
As an artist your picture illustrates for me the "point" of diversity in it's only defensible context.
Homogeneity is boring. I feel color is incredibly important to a piece and different skin tones look better in different outfits and color schemes. In the world of film we're taught that you need to set up lights differently by skin tone for this reason since using the wrong lights can be disastrous.
Likewise contour is a big thing. Sometimes someone a bit on the heavy side will just look better for a certain role. Sometimes your action hero needs to be a buff bodybuilder. Sometimes he needs to be a weedy short guy. It depends on the situation.
Diversity should never be about feeding the narcissism of a particular slice of the audience. It should be about what kind of image it creates on the screen. The moment that gets forgotten is the moment you lose artistic quality and your work begins to suck.
Which is, by no coincidence, why the new ghostbusters sucks so fucking hard. The old ghostbusters were clearly a bunch of rough around the edges schlomos in work suits. The nubusters are a random gaggle of women who look like random people off the street, dressed in neon tape for no reason but to differentiate from the original.
Jaxson Sullivan
is this woman you are talking about you're girlfriend? now onto your characters. The first one on the left looks like she's a loner but is able to do fine for herself since her clothes look decent. she also seems to be antisocial. The bowtied one looks like they are a famous arrogant person. She looks like someone who is extremely talented but narcisstic because of that talent and let the fame go to their head. The middle one looks like a loner who travels a lot. (she reminds me of a pokemon trainer.) She seems like a person who likes to journey a lot and enjoys life just going where ever the wind blows. The final one looks like some rich person who is up to no good. I keep thinking she's like a main villain of a kids cartoon or something. she seems well connected and has some plan of what she wants to do to take over the world or something like that. Anyway great designs user, keep up the good work.
Kayden Morales
Yeah… I feel that they kill the fun of making a project with all the two-face guilt tripping
Leo Bell
The Final girl, she's the daughter of a supervillain who's basically Baron Zemo mixed with Cobra Commander… She's trying to redeem her family name… she looks sinister but she's really a saint… the moment I brought it up to my "friend"… She brought up how the character would offend Germans because of the Holocaust because she's a German-Italian who's related to a supervillain…
Joseph Moore
No, diversity VERY MUCH WORKS, but SJWs try to change the meaning of diversity to suit their agenda. Diversity isn't really supposed to be a catch all "every type of person is portrayed as a hero in case kids need a hero to relate to" because kids aren't born caring about race, that's learned (another reason I think identity politics are very regressive, not progressive in the least). It should really be about the fact that there are people of all types, and people being of all types doesn't mean they can't work together.
It also helps that even when things are pretty obviously forced to be diverse, writers used to handle it better. Take Extreme Ghostbusters. No one really cares what races everyone is, the only guy who's really different is the one in the wheelchair, and that's made fun of fairly often. Eduardo's race isn't "his character trait" for example, he's written as any other character would be. These days it would be too easy to make him a very flat, boring character because someone would be afraid of offending someone by making the latino guy kind of a jackass.
This attitude is also why I consider Princess and the Frog so flat. People got upset that she'd have bad traits, because she was black, pure identity politics shit. So instead of being a flawed, well written character, she's just bland, with the flaw of how much of a HARD WORKER SHE IS. So, in short, diversity has been fucked up by the modern era, but it's always was great when it was done properly.
Lincoln Jones
wow that's actually pretty interesting. guess it does give meaning to the whole can't judge a book by it's cover.
Isaac Diaz
Thanks user… I'm hoping to actually get this project up on its feet… That's why I'm sharing it with you guys
Grayson Morgan
So the point is that diversity itself isn't bad but how you do it then? interesting. I do want to see a modern G.I. Joe cartoon with an ensemble cast kind of like Justice League Unlimited, that would be cool. And maybe you could have it as this never ending war with G.I. Joe and Cobra where each side gains and loses with proxy wars.
Robert Mitchell
That show is shallower than a puddle. The gems are all more or less the same character with one being lazy, another controlling, and the other stoic (up until recently). The side characters have one personality and only deviate from it slightly when the show focuses on them for an episode. Steven is the most developed character but can be summed up as a kid who has super powers.
Anyways, looking at your characters from left to right, you have the loner "You don't understand me." type. Then you have a cheeky Trixie who most likely is tsundere. Middle image has someone who might be a pilot of sorts and likes to explore. Lastly we have who might be a business pro, a leader, or some kind of dominate person. This woman who thinks the designs are all the same is an idiot. They aren't a multicultural rainbow of stupid and all have the same body type.
Zachary Reyes
Oh well. We can't just pretend the Holocaust didn't happen, but we shouldn't pretend every German person born since is a saint. If you limit start with "Germans can't be villains" you'll end up wondering "Then why can they be heroes".
I do think about different races for characters sometimes, mostly for pure artistic reasons. So if you ever consider that for these or future characters, do it because you think it would be an improvement, not just to appease people, people don't know what the fuck they want.
Brody Robinson
Hourglass, Pear and Triangle are the best. The rest are shit-tier.
Nathaniel Evans
If you've never read the old Marvel comic by Larry Hama, do so. It's damn good, and both the Joes and Cobra are fleshed out a lot. Hama even picked up the book again somewhat recently, picking up from the number and continuity the Marvel books left off.
I really like G.I.Joe Renegades… so of course it was cancelled after one season. We still don't know what form the next G.I.Joe cartoon will take, unless I missed some major news.
Leo Gutierrez
The things I would do to that Pear…. unf.
Leo Sanchez
Thank you very much, user… You guys are great! Oh and here's a villainous Vampire powered by Lilith and a bunch of Dark Goddesses…
Jayden Adams
thanks for the recommendation user. Yeah, i loved GI Joe Renegades it's a damn shame we never got a second season.
Thomas Wright
Let's keep this on topic… this whole conversation I had with the SJW started because of this character I'm making a Kitsune looking for her husband's killer so she went to Jolie Olivier (An Occult Detective) for help…
This is what the SJW had to say… after she suggested I look at SU for Inspiration… and I implied that she just wanted a Fat character…
Jayden Bennett
There's more she had to say
Jonathan Cook
SJWs only value shit that is skin deep. They don't care about the content or the character of a person.
Jonathan Roberts
Diversity works when it makes sense.
If you are making a show about swamp people from the south (USA) doing swamp things, making them white and black makes sense, tossing in a random east Asian makes about no sense.
For a good idea of what good diversity would be, find out what the demographics of what the area the show is being based off of and that should roughly match what the group is going to be. Ask yourself, does having a black, transsexual, woman, whatever add anything to the story? Do they really need to be there? If not, there isn't a reason to include them.
Ryder Carter
I told her that… this is what she had to say
Brandon Rodriguez
honestly you're characters look well proportioned. although about the fat character thing, it can work if it's part of who the character is. You should only do a fat character because you want to not because of what some sjw says.
Bentley Stewart
Thanks, she legit cried for 20 minutes when I said that we shouldn't worry about adding POC or more Women in a video game that has a Living Sausage with He-Man arms as a character
Justin Hill
"fuck you, it's my comic. i'll do what i want"
Juan Ortiz
She is an idiot. Similar body type through out is common, as most people look the same. A different body type is good to use if you need to make a character stand out.
She had nothing to say. She basically said "I have no argument and I haven nothing to counter, look at these buzzwords." If she really wants all the shit she wants, tell her to go make her own comic.
Xavier Reed
They don't all seem to have big boobs though, Diana and Aya there is the only one who seems beyond the B or C range. The other characters look noticeably more modest in the chest area, I assume in part because they may be younger. I say if you want to add more variation, do it in a way that is appealing. SJWs may like fatter characters, but normal women really don't. They like Sailor Moon and shit, where the body types are close, and the real differences are "Jupiter is taller and has bigger tits". Girls are way more interested in the different fashions you'll have the characters in (if you ever watched Jem you saw that they actually do wear different clothes almost all the time) and the personality of the side characters (though girls seem to like a blander main character they can impose their feelings onto).
If you want a more balanced look to do something that was considered "diverse" at the time, the word from the author at the back of Ms. Marvel #1 from 1977 is an interesting read. And bear in mind that Carol looked like this in costume in those books, and even I would probably rethink that exposed naval no matter how much I want to lick it
The biggest thing is: are these characters believable TO YOU. If they are, don't change a damn thing.
Sebastian Gomez
Is this sjw a middle class white woman? Because I notice that they all tend to be middle class white women with nothing to do but bitch all day long.
Jason Bennett
Thank you, I told her that basically… when she said people would drop my series over the Kitsune character…
Josiah Baker
does she think kitsune characters are that prevalent? the only time i can think of a kitsune character would be that one chick from LoL and maybe some character from Inuyasha. Hell I don't even play LoL I just know of her from the lewd pics on deviantart.
Julian Brooks
Oh, now you're just making shit up! I hope
Sebastian Clark
No one care you slope
Luis Cruz
Marietta von Krieg's chest size is suppose to be a tad larger…
This is a Work in progress re-design of Marietta btw..
What she said
I wish I was
Brody Barnes
no that happens with SJW types. Once you attack their core beliefs, they can only respond with crying.
John Roberts
This is what she said on Skype…
Jaxon Howard
Trixie Torres is a Greek-Filipino who is also a Demigod… thanks to her Greek Mom… This is what she looks like as a Fury
Landon Clark
is she watching this thread or something? shit now it makes sense since you keep showing her responses.
Grayson Gray
damn thats awesome
Henry Myers
nope… this was an old convo I had with her…
Brody Johnson
GOOBERGOYIM STRIKE AGAIN!
Chase Price
This one gets it. I'm also for diversity but because of more techical desplay and more variation artistically.
I would make a tons of diverse characters just so I could challenge myself and make more combinations and play of colours, lines, clothes etc..
Leo Flores
Thank you, my friend drew the digital ones… I'm more of a Traditional Paper and Pencil Artist
Aiden Wilson
oh ok then. for a minute i thought this might spiral into internet drama because she didn't like what we had to say.
Jordan Nelson
Well, sorry user, according to Canadian law, YOU RAPED HER.
Yeah, I know. It's one of those things that makes it so easy to relate to a cult mentality. But they do a lot more to hurt diversity than the do to help it. Because if you see a book pushing diversity written by a CULTIST, it's not going to be good. Cultists are not good writers (cult leaders are good ones better writers of course, but that's different). If I came, naturally, to make the character decisions a SJW would in core design, I'd produce a better story. Because my goal would still be a story, not propaganda. The Sandman Arc "A Game of You" has a trans character and she's just part of the story, because Gaiman is a writer before he's anything else. And at the end of the day, if you're an ideologue before a creator, it shows. You have to be a creator first, no matter what your beliefs, if your work feels empty.
Picture is… just because.
Kevin Ramirez
Are you a SEA monkey OP?
Hudson Perry
Funny, Trixie and Jolie will end up as a couple in the future of the series
Christian Brooks
Ok some thoughts:
You MAY want to play with height a little bit. Most of your characters look like they're the same height. If it were up to me I'd make one of them slightly shorter and one of them a touch taller, but that's it(by which I men literally inches, not a drastic amount). Colors and poses already make them visually distinct enough for the most part.
Isaac Powell
Actually, they are of different heights
Jason Perry
Good, good… I look forward to this.
How far along are you on things? Still hammering out a plot and finalizing character designs?
Austin Watson
Still Hammering out a plot and finalizing character designs… And hoping to learn how to make it into a proper series… Hope you guys could help
Bentley Wright
The worst bit is that this is what the SJW thinks of Trixie When I told her she was a Greek-Filipino Lesbian
Charles Jones
So she wants them ALL to be lesbians? I wouldn't officially state it, you want to leave a few characters ambiguous so shippers have something to fight over.
Jayden Clark
Agreed… The only ship that's sort of canon is Jolie and Trixie but it didn't stop my other friend from shipping Jolie x Trixie x Aya
Brody Thomas
I told her that Aya's not like the "Kitsune anime Stereotype" This is what she said
Jordan Hall
couldn't you respond to her by saying don't judge a book by it's cover. Besides if it's good an audience will follow.
Elijah Mitchell
The only place kitsunes appear with regularity is in animu, and even then they're not all over the place. What people does she think will just walk away from this because of some imagined oversaturation of kitsunes?
Brayden Jenkins
yeah I did… and this is what she said
Jaxon Cooper
Because of Weebs like the one who made this character from her "Dreams"
Hunter Long
And my project is an Occult Detective series…
Jacob Murphy
how is that even a kitsune? aren't they supposed to have seven or nine tails or something?
Chase Bennett
Nigga, don't tell her that WE are going to be drawing porn of your characters once you have a book done or whatever.
Nolan Rivera
The Creator is a Weeb… and notorious Sonic Fag neongrindhouse.deviantart.com/ if you're looking for cringe… but please don't try hazing them.
Isaiah Clark
Dude, I'd appreciate any fan art… even the shitty cringey ones.
Jace Hill
Even when It's still in progress.. if I see fan art… I'd be happy since that means someone wants to see this project done
Brayden Price
Multiple tails denoting how powerful they are by their number, with 9 being the best
One-tailed kitsune would be in Pleb City as far as they go
Blake Garcia
I-i-it's original, h-honest!
Joseph Wood
Actually this "Silver Fox" is from Fun fact… the Weeb named it Berlian after the Malay word for Diamond and because it sounded pretty… no in-universe reason for it
Julian Nguyen
...
Mason Rodriguez
...
Jeremiah Martin
look at the landmarks… btw Chenana's is the lard whale's Self-Insert
Hunter Johnson
is this weeb supposed to be white or is she from South East Asia or the Phillipines or something?
Hudson Williams
She's from Massachusetts Here's her Neko character and the species are called Neko in-universe Someone told me her thing is going to be a money making project… legit
Zachary Perez
back to my project… any advice, Holla Forums?
Isaac Clark
Can you tell us about the story and the setting? It might help if we get to know what kind of world you're setting up.
Anthony Morgan
you the OP? Advice on what in particular?
Caleb Edwards
Yes I am the OP The story is called MIST and it's set in a Cyberpunk styled Salem, MA. Where supernatural creature are integrated into everyday society… The Story would begin with Jolie Olivier, an Occult detective, who works for the Mythic Institute of the Strange and Terrifying or MIST. Eventually Trixie joins up then Aya… the first arc deals with a Mystic Mafia led by the Goblin King
Tyler Gomez
Interesting are there any clashes between humans and supernatural creatures?
Noah Myers
How are they interacting with the general public? Does the public know? Are all girls on top of the thread characters or are they different concepts of a same character?
Aiden Adams
yes but it's not touched upon too much. But Aya did have to win Jolie's trust since Kitsunes are known for being liars so Aya keeps her Fox ears and Tail to convince Jolie that she's not planning anything ill…
The Supernatural creature are normal citizens. and yes these girls are different character
Mason Clark
Would this be more of a crime drama with supernatural elements to it? Also can you elaborate on the Goblin King and his mafia?
Anthony Miller
Yes the first arc is a Crime Drama with Supernatural elements also the Goblin King's Mafia is still a WIP and I was hoping you guys could help me out… like you did with that Ghouls School project
Caleb Cook
That was 4/co/
Charles Sanchez
Oh I didn't know.
Christopher Hall
One very important question. Who is it for? Who is the target audience?
Isaiah Robinson
Do you need help with adding onto the plot? I guess you could do something like the Goblin King being an untouchable mob boss and the two girls struggle to stop him? I apologize that this is cliche but I'm just spitballing ideas here.
Daniel Bailey
Actually it moved to 8/co/ a while ago when its creator, Toonspew, realized it's better here due to the slower board and more content liberty.
Hunter Wilson
I'm targeting the TV-14 audience and fans of Supernatural shows
The Mystic Mafia arc starts with the Murder of Aya's Husband and her going to Jolie and MIST for help. The Mystic Mafia is after a ring that contains the piece of the powers of the Goddess Nyx…
Basically can you guys help me out?
Parker Stewart
...
Ethan Carter
Why do I have the feeling that one of you guys is drawing porn of my characters right now…
Connor Lopez
Knowing your audience is important and it can dictate your atmosphere.
1) Does the story have any message in particular and what is the main plotline or general idea? Is it a stereotypical "good vs evil" concept or is it something else?
Also you're on chans. Porn is guaranteed.
Ian Torres
I'm not drawing porn but since this is the internet don't be surprised if someone is. But yes I'm willing to help you out.
William Flores
If there's any message MIST is saying it's "Don't judge a book by its cover" and the main plotline is a set up to a thing is a set up to the Story arc "The End of the Gods"
Hope someone can help me design my characters… I need more artist friends anyways
Brandon Bennett
For design sure. I guess we can start with Aya. I guess you could try to give her more distinct clothing to separate her from that kitsune chick from LoL. Maybe Aya could wear traditional clothing if she's proud of her heritage or more modern clothing like a t-shir and jeans if she's trying to fit in.
Jaxson Price
Aya's Proud of her heritage and is not ashamed of showing it.
Luke Ramirez
Good I guess you can keep the traditional clothing then. Also, for Jolie I think you can give her a badge. I don't know if you want to give Jolie a uniform or her regular clothes depending on if she's a beat cop or detective.
Jeremiah Butler
Jolie's more of a detective hence the trench coat but she does need a badge…
Jacob Howard
If you're going for "book by it's cover" thing then try to avoid good vs evil thing. The character setting can go both ways. You can make characters turn out good or characters turn out bad. Some people hide their real colours due to mistrust, some because of fear and others because they have never been in such situation.
You can make "bad guys" by having them terribly fail and/or "shellshock" in certain situations which triggers a domino effect or it can work opposite way. You can have the (seemengly) bad guys turn good and prove valiant and justified.
Brayden Wright
I guess you could have the badge on her belt. I do want to ask you about Trixie though, besides being a demigod is she an entertainer? Is that why she wears the bowtie?
Lincoln Cox
There was a thread on 8ch about Ghoul School a couple of months ago where Toonspew shared some of his thoughts and ideas about the girls as well as demostrating his OCs (who are normal humans assigned to guard the ghoulies). If I had the archive I'd show you.
Also because of you I actually had to visit halfchan to look for the GS thread, and there's none, but the Channel-tans, Monthly MLaaTR, and Holla Forumsco/ threads are swinging at full force.
I can only help you with technical stuff since storyline and character progression isn't my forte. Just gonna ask what tablet are you using and what are your computer specs and drawing program? This is important so we can give some suggestions so you can draw faster and more efficiently.
And don't worry about people drawing porn of your stuff; that means they love it.
Samuel Cruz
I think the designs for your characters are good so far but I would like to learn more about the Goblin King? Why does he want the ring? What kind of villain would you have him be like? Would he be cold and calculating like the Kingpin or maniacal like the Joker?
Jordan Ross
She's in a garage band and she wears the bowtie because that was her old bow from her childhood
The digital work was from my friend. I'm a traditional artist. and I'm okay with porn… I just want to know if people actually want me to finish this project.
The Goblin King is suppose to be more like the Kingpin but he's based more on the Green Goblin… he eventually gets killed by his second-in-command, Ray Regan, who eventually dubs himself the Witch King of Salem…
Sebastian Adams
The Goblin King sounds good, would you want his look to resemble the Green Goblin with the purple leotard, boots and satchel? or do you want a business man look for him?
Jeremiah Bell
More Business Man looking
Brandon Phillips
Ray Reagan looks interesting. Is he like a wannabe wizard or something?
Chase Perez
No, he is a wizard… I'm following the rule of Magic that Constantine told Alan Moore. "Any Cunt can do it"
Sebastian Rodriguez
Nice, he does have that Constantine vibe about him now that I think about it. I guess with the story do you want it to be a conspiracy?
Brandon Gutierrez
Kinda, just for the first arc. Jolie's based more on Constantine, funnily enough.
Ryder Torres
Huh that's interesting. I'm not sure how far you planned your story but judging from what I've seen so far it seems to be a basic conspiracy that the good guys have to stop. So I guess for the story you might want to focus more on the characters and use the setting as a backdrop for it.
Kevin Morris
Yes, I'm more focused on Character-driven stories.
Aaron Evans
Ok good since I can't read your mind on the plot. I guess some basic advice I should give is: 1. Never pander to shippers. 2. Make the drama natural and not for the sake of it. 3. Keep the tone consistent. I'm sorry if this isn't all that great of advice but it's getting late where I live and I need to go to sleep. Good luck with your story dude.
William Hernandez
It's cool and thanks for the advice, I'm going to make sure not to do that… Now I'm hoping for someone to help me with my designs
Leo Scott
Hamburger and lollipop sounds more fitting.
Kayden Bennett
You should a decent scanner tbqh fam.
As for designs I don't know who will be who but I think they should be appealing, easy on the eyes, and congruent to the storyline.
Nolan Russell
I don't have a scanner sadly…
Henry Moore
Don't have a scanner
Juan Murphy
Because it actually never happened?
Jacob Perez
Let tell you something if you want to work your project your way, you've got to fucking dump that SJW acquaintance over time. I'm sorry the second real step you've got to do after getting honest feedback here, is you've got to get away from this SJW chick as soon as possible. Because mark my words as soon as your comic takes off, she's most likely going to try and burn your project as soon as possible for whatever damn reason that she wants.
Also just to add to the chorus:
SJW's will always lie to you. SJW's will always double down on whatever stupid theory they have in the back of their heads no matter what the reality is. SJW's will always project whatever nonsense they see into any work of art or culture.
After you've chosen the direction that you want to take your story in slowly cut off any further interaction with this "friend" because they ain't going to be your friend for much longer.
And whatever direction you take on your work, DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE APOLOGIZE FOR ANY DIRECTION YOU TAKE ON YOUR COMIC.
Sorry had to get that one out.
Charles Rodriguez
Thank you, user. And I'm not planing on apologizing for anything that happens in my comic…
Austin Allen
Hey MIST guy, dont let your webcomic have stale poses like QC. You need to learn and practice about Line of Action so that your characters' actions are more dynamic and therefore appealing.
Noah Ward
What's QC? Also I'm the writer and designer. I'm not the main artist for the series.
Grayson Roberts
I applaud the OP for creating something and putting love into it. I would love to stay up to date with the developments.
I sadly don't have much advice to share. I could probably answer a direct questions but then my answer would probably not be all too useful. At least I assume so.
Eli Wright
Thank you for the love for my concept… I don't get that much for it…Especially from the last group I worked with, I had to leave because they wanted me to work on MIST's first issue before it was even ready.
Wyatt Mitchell
Nah user, you were close with diversity explanation but missed a little. Just have fun with it, with diversity. Thing is, faggots and people of different sexual orientation always existed in comics. Focus was less on who they fuck and focus more what that hero or villain was going to do that issue. Making jabs was a thing done to show a difference in characters cause the thing they jabed about is not a key character trait. Now there is no jabbing cause writers are shit and think race and sexuality are character traits. In short can't have fun with a character who is different.
Brody Robinson
HEAD THESE WORDS NEVER EVER APOLOGISE
Ayden Scott
Questionable Content (QC) is a horrible, horrible webcomic filled with static, lifeless poses, copy-paste character designs that have almost no emotional expressions, relentless SJW pandering, and generally just lazy as all hell.
Mason Green
I'm sure MIST would not be anything like that… I hope…
Ryan Brooks
Most important character design is that you have something that unifies them. Something that goes above class/status. My only example might be Game of Thrones and their costume design. You could tie a group of people to an area by linking them to their dressing customs/habbits and therefore you could throw hints at character background without explaining them
Josiah Gomez
True, I'm hoping someone could help me with showing that Jolie and Trixie were Childhood friends.
Aiden Wood
I cannot tell you how much I appreciate the reception I'm getting from Holla Forums
Joseph Scott
Childhood/long-term friends might share something that they carry. Right now they don't have anything in common in terms of clothing pattern.
Some examples: -maybe make them share an earring/ring or a necklase… -they have the same chain or badge or some type of damage/marks on some stuff they wear from such and such (doesn't need to be tragic) event. -they have a distinct way of wearing something, be that the way the put on their belts, or on what hand their wear watches…where they usually carry their phones, how they wear caps or headgear -colours or patterns on clothing. for example: if they both have striped or dotted clothing and if that persists throughout their wardrobe. Doesn't have to ba whole clothes, just a small detail.
Ryder Scott
I'm going for a minor detail like an earring or ring… Thanks user.
Ryder Parker
Can you show us some of the side characters and villains?
Jonathan Brown
can't… I haven't gotten around designing them with exception to Diana Orr
Adrian Williams
Guys, Do you think I should make a thread for MIST?
Brayden Thomas
I think it's best to wait for this thread to hit bump limit (300 posts) and page 8-10 before you make another thread.
Jack Gray
writing good characters and stories is hard and takes time away from browsing tumblr 20 hours a day. virtue signalling to your peers so you can be popular takes very little effort.
Nathan Campbell
Hey MISTa, you should browse the Korra thread so you can get tips on what NOT to do when writing fiction.
Jaxon Wilson
I would actually say no. If you mean starting up another OC thread for everyone to share then go for it. But I wouldn't recommend starting up a thread for a project that's not even completed yet.
Parker Wood
More commonly known as "trap"
Ethan Martinez
i don't know if you noticed, but sjw's are not exactly lauded for their integrity or intellectual honesty. there's a reason they're universally reviled here. they're some of the shittiest, most cancerous humans infesting modern society.
Tyler Price
Is this picture implying that false gods should not be likable or sympathetic? Preposterous.
Daniel Rodriguez
This, diversity shouldn't be to make people feel "included" it should be to add a wide variety of designs to a piece of work and make it visually more interesting.
Jason Jenkins
Yo OP, in case you're still looking for advice:
I think your SJW friend (?) is an idiot but I can slightly see where she was coming from, when she said your designs look too similar. I don't think the main problem is everyone being too white/not fat enough, it's more a combination of similar bodies + similar faces. I kinda tried to illustrate this with a half assed redline of everyone's faces–their basic shapes almost look the same with very minor differences, which gives all characters kind of a "cheeky" look. Now, I don't know if this is something you were going for or not but if you want more variety, you can try to slightly change their faces by making them more round or more narrow, experiment with different eye forms, etc. Same for their bodies: there's nothing wrong with making everyone thin and attractive but you can add variety by giving them stronger high differences and slightly different body types, e.g. by making short characters more "petite" and tall characters more "lanky".
I don't think there's much of a problem with their bodies as they are now, though, it's something you might look into for future character designs. Also, taking "inspiration" from Steven Universe is a pretty terrible advice because it has a completely different art style that probably wouldn't work for your characters.
I really like the red and blond haired girls' designs. Red gave me a very strong "detective" vibe from the first glance and I assume she's gonna be your main character (she looks like one). Blondie looks like an ice-cold character but I can see her showing more of her softer sides as the story progresses. She looks like the type of character who comes off like an antagonist at first but later teams up with the protagonists and becomes their friend.
I like pokemon trainer-chan, too, though I don't know if her resemblance of a pokemon trainer was something you intended or not. If you don't want people to make that association, you might want to change her design a little bit. Other than that, she seems like a wanderer/world explorer and more "down-to-earth" than the others. I'd like to know if there's a reason why she has red eyes and long ears like that, is she some kind of vampire? (not criticism, just asking out of curiosity)
I gotta say that I like the black haired girl's design a lot less than the others, probably because I can't really tell what kind of character she is just from looking at her. Her big bow gives her an almost clown-ish impression but the fact that she's wearing a suit also makes me think she wants people to take her seriously. Maybe she's kind of a rebel? I'd like to know more about her, maybe it'll make more sense to me then. Also, her hair immediatly made me think of pic related: there's this weird habit of character designers giving Asian-looking girls purple hair streaks and it's done over and over and over again. I'm not an SJW, so I don't think it's because of "racism" or whatever, it's probably just something people subconsciously pick up from other works and then copy without thinking about it. I don't think it's a huge flaw, it's just something that personally annoys me because I see it too often.
Anyway, that was kind of a long post, sorry for that. It's always nice to see people share their work here.
Matthew Williams
In the 80-90s you had really cool characters who happened to be black or female created. They get to stick around because they were cool concepts and are well liked parts of the world.
In the 00s to the present you have black and female characters who take roles from better character and are inevitibly thrown to the side once the death is undone a few months latter.
Julian Sanders
Thanks for the advice, I'll forward it to my actual friend, ie the guy who drew them
Thomas Gutierrez
What are you now?
William Roberts
An Average sized Asian man… because I don't believe in "unrealistic body standards"
Jackson Young
Like Sassy Black Woman who is also Iron Man for some reason?
Kayden Ortiz
Pokemon Trainer-Chan is a dhampir and half-elf
Kayden Lee
I wish I'd saved the posts, but several weeks ago we had a thread about this topic and one of the things said about the idea of forced diversity and representation was that it completely misunderstands why people read and enjoy comic books.
Like Peter Parker's story isn't about being a relatable wimpy nerd who gets shoved in lockers. It's a universal story about power, responsibility, and balancing duty with personal matters.
The insistence that the most important things that comics and other media have to offer us is the skin color or gender of a character is fucking ridiculous in a way that is almost antagonistic towards the actual intent and purpose of these series.
Ethan Green
Yes, I wonder how they rationalize how Peter Parker became such an enduring character.
Joseph Nelson
Spider-man only matters if he's black. Or a girl. Or gay, like Andrew Garfield wanted. He could be as bland as mayonnaise just so long as they're diverse.
It's kind of a heartless outlook on things, kind of like drug addiction. It doesn't matter the quality just so long as the feeling of representation is attained.
Nathan Nelson
And even when you have an all female-cast with a lesbian lead… they'll still find something to bitch about.
Lincoln Phillips
It's a very SJW way of thinking that denies the actual content of the media they are screaming about, in favor of treating it as a piece of ephemeral symbolism.
As if a picture book can't just be a picture book. It has to be some kind of psionic entity that attacks little gay black tranny children.
Xavier Diaz
Wait, really? This shit has gotten to the actors themselves?
Carter Campbell
Just a reminder…
Landon Sullivan
It's because they need to be unique and special since their lives are incredibly depressing.
Or maybe just caricature.
Alexander Jones
The design you posted are nice, but the head shapes are the same shape. While it's good for those characters don't be afraid to change it up with others.
A woman with broad shoulders (as wide or wider than her hips) could also be a professional swimmer. Doesn't always mean trap.
I would like to see a counter picture to this of on screen asians WITHOUT the colour streaks, because that would have to outnumber them right?
Oh no, 3 Asian chicks have blue hair streaks! This is totally oversaturated in media and cliche!
- Knives Chau, the comic version used a red highlight (and both versions get them punched out) - Mako Mori, POSSIBLE Kaiju Blue (toxic Kaiju blood) exposure for the coloration. But still not confirmed. - Akima Kunimoto, this is from the fucking 90's and set in the far future, this deserves a true pass unlike the other examples. - GoGo Tomago, comic version just has black hair. - Blink, is she even Asian?
How many people here would have heard or known of everyone of these characters?
Aaron Wright
Because she said
I'll be sure to tell my draw friend, user.
Henry Carter
I know who all of them are except Akima. And I don't think Freefall was supposed to be Asian, although she was a Jubilee ripoff, so maybe.
William Lopez
And the Purple on Psylocke makes sense since her hair had a purple tint in the comics
Isaac Rivera
Oh, you said Blink, not Freefall. My bad. I don't think Blink was necessarily Asian either.
Nathan Evans
Here's a redesign I did for the lead, Jolie Olivier. She's a French witch She lived in Salem during her childhood. She is rather cynical and is mostly unphased by the supernatural forces that she faces in Salem.
Jeremiah Collins
You need to get a scanner; using a potato to showcase your designs ain't satisfactory.
Benjamin Perez
Thanks… I'm planning on getting one soon.
Jonathan Torres
Did you read the bottom note card?
Brody Thomas
Howdy MISTa, I'm just here t' say I like where this is going and I wish ya the best of luck!
Jack Watson
So since this turned into an OC thread I've got something I'd like to submit. Before I reveal anything about this character, what sort of person do you suppose this eel chap is?
Jacob Parker
Gruff, no nonsense type, but with a soft spot for kids.
Cooper Sanchez
His expression is mostly hard, so I'd assume he's probably some kinda stern, strong guy that only really smiles on those rare occasions.
He's also proabably not too concerned with the possibility of those breath assister things failing, malfunctioning, and suffocating him, seeing how vulnerable yet maneuverable those look
Christian Williams
Maybe if things go smoothly here we can get the actual "Show Your Shitty Creations" thread back up and running again.
Cooper Parker
m8 with the recent "Holla Forums is /a/" fiasco it can only get better from here on.
And don' call it an OC thread or else you'll drag in that jojo autist
Brayden Gutierrez
Plus, I'm trying to make this into a Comic at the very least…
Jayden Adams
You got your feedback, go and apply it.
Anthony Anderson
Will do.
Kayden Hall
That would be rectangle now, wouldn't it?
Blake Torres
Thank you, user.
Jayden Robinson
Raymond ???? Is the sort of person who's never really had any major aspirations for his life.
Born a mutant, his life was not a simple one, as many of his peers viewed his with various degrees of interest or disgust. However, he was completely apathetic to such things, generally not caring what others think of him. His only goal in life is to live comfortably and within his means, no wealth or fame.
Though some view him as apathetic towards everything, this isn't entirely accurate. He is still a human (mostly) and possesses feelings and can actually be very passionate on rare occasions. One such circumstance would be when he sees someone in distress, specifically being bullied or attacked. the reason he did not care when someone picked on or bullied him was that he knew he could handle it if it came to blows, but he detests those who pick on those weaker than themselves.
In regards to his breathing apparatus, don't be fooled, it's actually very tough. The tubes may be flexible, but the material they are constructed from is industrial strength and cannot be cut or pulled out from the cups with anything found in the hands of an average citizen. The cups surrounding his gills are held in place with a powerful suction, and cannot be removed except be using the proper procedure. May work on it some more to make it less bulky though.
Here are some more sketches
Liam Ross
...
Oliver Cook
Does he have a pharyngeal jaw? And if he does, how often does he use it for combat as much as eating?
Chase Gutierrez
Also if you want a proper feedback. You'll need to deliver 15+ different characters (and their alternate (if any) designs) so people can see the consistency and be able to compare on a wider scale.
Posting a single character here or there wont help us or you anymuch since you get your character judged by itself instead of getting it judged in it's world and surroundings.
Camden Foster
They are all female, young looking, seemingly attractive. The body language is much the same.
Isaiah Lee
He does have Phyrangeal jaw but he doesn't you use in combat unless he's in a real pinch.
Alexander Turner
Will do that
Henry Garcia
No. "Likeable", "Relatable" and "Sympathetic" are false gods, since people think that these are all that make a great character, when they're just a crutch and the points on the right are more important.
Jonathan Richardson
triangle body shape is best
Brandon Barnes
I was planning to revive a comic I made as a kid, about teddy bears in a Blade Runner / Fifth Element type society. It was also going to have the bears be born a random colour, which also functions as a "star sign", red ones are impulsive, grey ones are stern and orderly, etc. But then my inner Holla Forums came out, and I started thinking about doing a time travel story which shows how the different coloured bears were once "races", but in the future diverse rainbow society every colour is spread evenly over the whole world, a world where all the cities look the same, everybody speaks the same language, they all watch the same inane films and all listen to the same bubblegum pop. Holla Forums: not even once.
Sebastian Foster
Dystopian Holla Forums Care Bears?
Nolan Hernandez
Well I meant the "look" of Blade Runner or The Fifth Element (or Judge Dredd, now that I think of it). It actually starts off pretty utopian, the main character is a cop, but there's not really much crime, but then aliens start invading by stealth. The aliens were called "clones", though the story never really explained that. In the new version they will actually be clones of teddy bears who have been killed and replaced.
Levi Powell
This all sounds pretty promising.
Sebastian Diaz
So what's his favorite food?
Lincoln Campbell
Surprisingly, he really hates sea food, other than that he isn't too picky. What he really enjoys is pasta, of any variety really, especially if it's home made.
Nathaniel Ramirez
Any news yet?
Joseph Nguyen
Diversity the way SJWs try to implement it doesn't work, not diversity itself as a concept. The problem is they focus so much on it, they forget every other bit of writer's craft and feel accomplished merely in the fact that characters hit a certain quota.
Julian Wood
hourglass and triangle
all others need not apply
Jaxon Walker
on what?
Juan Ward
That's the fucking worst body shape for a woman, what the fuck are you talking about? That's how a man should be shaped. Have you met a woman who's shaped like a triangle? They're the ugliest beasts you've ever seen in your life, and they usually have Hank Hill asses.
Josiah Morgan
…Somehow, I mixed up triangle with inverted triangle. Really, though. I've met a couple inverted triangles in my life. They're disgusting to look at.
Austin Perez
You think men are supposed to have hips like that? Men should be more inverted triangles because of broad shoulders.
Carter Wright
You made this post too long after the one before it to not notice , faggot. Read a little more next time.
Brayden James
I love the artstyle Wyatt is going for but damn, Necropolis is a serious rival with VGcats for the "less often updated webcomic" title.
Christian Jenkins
Thread with an identity politics title Holla Forums doesn't blame the Holla Forums boogeyman and start shit talking Holla Forums doesn't take the bait The thread is a productive discussion about correctly creating a diverse cast in your work, rather than relying on tokenism, proceeds to be an OC thread critiquing each others' work I'm proud of you guys.
Camden Richardson
Gee, it's almost like you want someone to show up and ruin everything out of spite.
Luke Davis
I was being sincere. The shit flinging is really getting out of control lately, it is nice to have a productive conversation for once.
Thomas Peterson
sjw are special snowflakes of cancer. They have no fucking intelligence and critical thinking skills. They simply parrot media on TV and social media talking points.
Carter Reed
Holla Forums does.
Kevin Sanders
What's it like being clinically retarded?
Jayden King
Which game?
Samuel Watson
That's implying that a normal person can't get sick of diversity quotas in western media. It's annoying, when it's clear that it's not a genuine attempt and is just a try to appeal to the current trend of aggressive diversity instead of trying to make actual good characters. Think of it like this: remember when everyone was REALLY into kale for some reason? Well what if your favorite resturaunt insisted on putting it into every dish, and if you didn't want it then you were behind the times! Kale is great! You should want kale every time you eat something! How can you NOT like kale? And similar nothing arguments that amount to shouting down opposition. Of course you'd either come to accept it, or come to hate it because you just want a god-damn pizza without kale all over it.
Robert Nguyen
Where did I mention diversity quota? Holla Forums doesn't need that to whine about race. Remember Holla Forums existed before the SJW era.
Look at this for example:
Justin Morgan
Racists existed before Holla Forums, and the two aren't mutually inclusive. You're still using a lazy umbrella term instead of addressing the issue directly. Is it so hard to think that maybe someone could be racist on their own?
I mean have you SEEN BLM? I really doubt they browse Holla Forums
Logan Miller
You seem to have forgotten what I said in the first place though, which is that SJWs aren't the only ones that whine about race.
Joshua Ortiz
Yeah basically. Just that I'm sick of seeing that "hurr durr you have a contrarian/controversial opinion so you must be Holla Forums" nonargument.
Brayden Nguyen
Also this is an anonymous imageboard: there's no real way to tell who you are.
Connor Howard
I think the old design looked more unique to be honest.
Well I never actually said anyone outside of Holla Forums can't be a racist, just that Holla Forums doesn't shut up about race (is this not true?).
That's fair. But it really goes both ways. I've been accused of being from /leftpol/ and Tumblr for some of my stances. And they aren't even SJW-like, just simply things like judging someone on their own merits and not their race.
Anthony Green
Have you have considered you might be the problem and not the board your using?
Alexander Sanders
...
Nathan Brown
I think too many people want to label everyone Holla Forums or Holla Forums because then it's an excuse to dismiss a person. When, it shouldn't matter. We disagree, we talk about it or just leave eachother alone, that should be how things go.
But some people think "he's got (insert political leaning)" and then everything he says or does should be ignored. People can't deal with disagreement at all, because some people are just triggered to fuck the moment someone thinks differently than them.
Andrew Gutierrez
Shhh… Let it happen, user.
Leo Gray
it's funny how whoever makes these only goes so far because deep down they know being fat is disgusting.
Xavier Fisher
Anonymity is a double edged sword, user. You're no one but whomever your words define you to be. However, this means you are effectively whoever anyone decides to label you as. Nobody is Holla Forums or Holla Forums, and everyone is, all at the whim every user's fancy. Ultimately, this is why so many anons often express frustration at politicization outside of boards whose explicit purpose is political discussion: it doesn't matter what you believe, nor even what you express, because you're no one, soapboxing to a room filled with nobodies. If you express "Holla Forums beliefs" you're Holla Forums, and you're a /lefty-pol/ "false-flagging" attempt, and a dnc raid from another site, all at the same time. Because you're no one, so you're whomever anyone wants you to be. tl;dr anonymous imageboards are not conducive to any sort of serious, controversial debate, and no one like to listen to strangers soapbox.
Noah Reed
Yeah, this is not really a great place for real debate. I guess it's better than something like twitter, but that's not an accomplishment.
I find it funny at times because most of us left Holla Forums because the censoring of ANY view was something we could not tolerate. I hate to think that some people came later, directly from half/co/ because they simply didn't like being disagreed with, and thought they could come here to "fit in". So, for me at least, I'm not here for any Holla Forums leaning (because I'm not) but because we have more freedom to have any opinion we want here.
But yeah, we need to spend a lot less time preaching at eachother, I suppose.
Camden White
Yeah, that's the thing. I have no problem with people talking about polarizing, controversial things–having a discussion about The Punisher can be interesting and engaging from time to time–and I have no problem with people talking about politics, but former is topical to the board and the latter isn't. We have boards–better to have it all in one place, but I digress–for political discussion, take it to them.
Joseph Adams
Now they're doing it with Mary Jane in the new Spiderman and still can't see what hypocrites they are.
Oh goodness how progressive! There's nothing wrong with changing the appearance of a familiar character!
Oh fucking racists! How dare you change the appearance of a familiar character?!
Elijah Allen
That's all decent advice for finding an audience, you're frankly interpreting it like a hysterical lunatic.
Austin White
...
Ryder Jackson
Stop getting triggered about Holla Forums, faggot.
Adam Davis
...
Adam Cruz
Thanks for reminding me that I had this webm saved. That's the funny thing about diversity, it's the things that literally everyone has that actually makes something 'diverse,' not the things that some people have and others don't.
While I wouldn't go that far, any character design absolutely must give us some idea what the character is like, otherwise you end up with the dreaded "bland character."
Jonathan Perez
Claiming the middle one as my waifu. Requesting lewds.
Isaac Wood
Is it ironic that VeggieTales handled diversity maturely?
Isaac Howard
Not really for me. This was in the 90's and I'd actually argue that the 90's did a better job of diversity than now because the characters of shows were still people. That and I have a bit of a soft spot for Veggie Tales, I was raised Catholic so that may be why.
Dominic Moore
Christianity truly is the religion of slaves.
The more I look back on programming like this the more disgusted it makes me. It's just a scam to open up new markets for the merchant so that gentiles can't distinguish or even object as their homelands are invaded and their people ethnically cleansed.
Carson Lopez
JEWS FORCED ME TO SLAM METH WHILE MASTURBATING TO TRAPS
Justin Walker
yes continue worshipping Odin you alt right pagan larper. Seriously it's salvation that Jesus promised besides its not solely Jewish if anything Christianity itself is part Jewish and Greek and Roman.
Camden James
diversity is fine when it's done correctly ironically, comics and vidya have been good at this for a long time. visually distinct characters read better on the page and differing personalities lead to more interesting interactions.
the problem is that diversity -a range of different things. has been replaced by diversity - shallow tokenism to generate media attention and pander for progressive points
Julian Martin
And Zoroastrianism.
Alexander Wright
Who let the gooks in? I'm glad there's no superheroes of them or if they are they're irrelevant just like in real life lmao
Thomas Fisher
thank you for reminding me user. I forgot that Zoroastrianism influenced Judaism.
Julian Rivera
Some game some guy was planning on making… it's not really going anywhere
Bentley Powell
Thank you for the feedback
Levi Morales
I'm surprised by how popular the thread is.
Jordan Wilson
Got a higher quality version of that first pic?
Zachary Hill
The hell are they doing with Spider-Man's supporting cast?!
Caleb Ross
Progress of MIST is doing great thanks to you, Holla Forums!
Owen Gonzalez
The blonde is cutie. I'd like to see some lewds of her.
Tyler Brown
thank you for the feedback
Andrew Adams
Got some new designs, should I make it's own thread or should I just post them here?
Brandon Hall
No its more then this
Diversity is code for anti western civilization aka straight white & male
Oliver Adams
I've noticed that even in my youth…
Liam Lewis
Were you that kid at my public speaking course a week ago who started crying
Tyler Jackson
nope
Evan Cruz
Just out of curiosity when you complete your comic will you story time it or link it to a website where the comic is at?
Jacob Myers
See, an analogy I frequently see on various sites goes something like:
'White people have a large number of toys, maybe too many, and if one was to be given to another person (anyone who isn't white).
it's not as bad as taking a toy from someone with very little toys.
I'm just surprised that people actually give an argument like this any credit.
Matthew Adams
The treatment of people of a particular racial category as an utterly monolithic block is the main pitfall here.
They literally don't see the difference between a white billionaire and a white homeless person.
James Rodriguez
line up the feet better god damn
Daniel Mitchell
Lol It totally was you, you cried bro! YOU CRIED
Austin Lewis
I'll try to story time the first issue at least.
Michael Wright
I must repeat the question, should I hold of from showing the new character designs for it's own thread or post them here?
Landon Collins
I don't think anyone would mind if you posted here.
Robert Cox
Here's 3 of the 4 main characters
Hudson Perez
from left to right Trixie Torres, Jolie Olivier and Aya Ando
Anthony Carter
holy shit user that is damn good.
Easton Green
It's my friend who drew them, actually
Isaac Fisher
nice so will he be doing the artwork from now on or was this a one time thing.
Jonathan Morales
He's the one doing the artwork since the beginning…
Michael Rogers
I didn't know that. Still glad to see your project is coming along.
Nicholas Cruz
There's still one more character coming up tho.
Luis Diaz
the Fourth Main Character Gale Shellingford, Jolie's Co-Worker and Professional Rival.
Connor Scott
nice user.
Dylan Mitchell
Thank you, she's also the shortest of the cast. Gale Shellingford is very ego driven
Jonathan Hill
was she the one that had the supervillain for a father?
Ayden Lee
Nope, she's a different character
Carson Walker
Any opinions on the main four?
Landon Brown
I like them. I like how their body shapes differ like Aya being curvy and sexy whle Gale and Jolie are more slender. Also good job on differentiating the facial structures.
Joseph Bennett
My friend would be happy to hear this, thank you very much!
Justin Nguyen
Prepare for Tumblr death threats.
William Watson
I'm fully prepared.
Colton Baker
Are you forgetting the Kitsune who's designed for the "Male Gaze"
Joseph Murphy
tumblr's stance on diversity is shit because most of the time it just seems like their "diverse" characters seriously lack appeal in their designs. Ugly, shapes, expressions, etc
By appeal I don't mean the characters have to be gorgeous Abercrombie and Fitch models, but they are at least pleasant to look at whether they are physically attractive or unattractive.
Brandon Rivera
Making characters black for the sake of being black is a dumbshit idea. And so is replacing males with females, or straight with special snowflake not-gays. Diversity is supposed to lie in how characters act, not how the look like. If you make a squad of identical looking genetically engineered soldiers who still have distinctively different personalities it's still gonna feel way more interesting than a bunch of edgy tumblr niggerfaggots(in most literal sense possible)
Logan Walker
Diverse Red Noses
Carter Bell
...
Benjamin Foster
To further my example this is what comes to mind when I think of good diverse and appealing female characters.
They have different body types, heights, hair colors (back when dying your hair blue was more punk and not sjw cringe I guess) and while the three Kankers are seen as unnatractive in the EEnE world and tehy have features normally considered unnatractive like yellow or green teeth, buck tooth, hairy legs, annoying voices, etc. They are still appealing characters, and have many male fans and a topic dedicated to them on this site.
Aaron Gutierrez
by the way I really like this post, and it's cool to see other folks also talking about their and other's own cartoons and work and getting feedback and advice including avoid getting "groomed" by sjws.
I'm starting to work on animation and am working on a webcomic myself and I see a lot of artists are going down the sjw route and ditching their own ideas and tastes for pandering to the tumblr claptrap and it's just sad.
Liam Cox
I refuse to pander to the crowd that get upset that they don't have a character that looks like them in their fiction… I never understood why they want that…
Adrian Hall
I like these designs, they're not too simple and they're not over the top. I'm looking forward to seeing this as a webcomic.
Xavier Walker
Thank you, but the biggest problem is, what should I go for It's either a webcomic or a web animation… what do you think, Holla Forums
Leo Wood
If possible I'd love to see this as an animated series, how are your animation skills?
Alexander Clark
None at all but I am looking into to animation schools
Liam Edwards
Insecurity I guess. They need a character to validate their shitty life choices so badly for some reason, almost to prove something to society.
"See? the X character is a lazy slob who flunks at school just like me, therefore I feel validated. Put up with me society!"
That's how I read it at least
Camden Ross
You draw pretty well, surely with animation school you'll go no way but up. Good luck.
Andrew Miller
Thank you but if you're referring to the digital pics, they were drawn by my friend
Dylan Rivera
oh, I see. Still good luck on an anim school. It's a great experience.
Owen Harris
I hope I can find one that's nearby… wish me luck, Holla Forums
Nolan Young
but tf2 is filled with cis white men, ignoring demoman and pyro
Jason Anderson
what is wrong with MatPat?
Levi Sanchez
like is he autistic or something?
Jason Campbell
MatPat's just Clickbait… Also assumed that the Pope had a Steam Account.
Landon James
Why the fuck does Santa have no trigger discipline?
Jayden Garcia
Because… A Real American Hero.
Ian Myers
It's a plasma gun if that helps you.
Nicholas Turner
It's called Third Worldism. Europeans are the bourgeois while non-Europeans are the proletarians. No, don't bring up Eastern Europe being under Muslim rule or all the other non-Europeans conquering, butchering, and enslaving.
Sebastian Lopez
SJWs don't know what an Apple Body Type Is
Hudson Collins
He needs his shit straightened out by Sgt. Slaughter.
Ian Moore
It's like the SJW wanted me to have a fat character…
Jayden Williams
Well no shit, MISTah. We've known that from the beginning.
Austin Jones
Pear body type here, that second chart is just plain misleading. That pear is more of a papaya and the apple is more of a watermelon. First lineup is more simple but gets it right.
Ryder Wood
Why are they misleading us? Are they really that fucking insecure? Yes
Liam Miller
Apple looks like a stuffed animal, but with tits and a woman head.
Aaron James
Also apple=/=fat just that shoulders are wider than hips. Not considered very feminine but can still look good if the person takes care of her body. Tumblrinas are using apple body type as an excuse to not do anything about being overweight.
Jeremiah Roberts
I'm sure that fat isn't a proper body type
James Garcia
Found one chart for men
Nicholas Gomez
Clearly not Tumblr approved
Alexander Murphy
I thought Oval was the fat one.
Tyler Russell
Not Fat enough
Xavier Mitchell
Is it bad that Gale is the girl trying to compensate for her short height by trying to make herself look more curvy? It's a part of the reason why she wears a short skirt… I can already see SJWs saying "It's for the Male Gaze"
Robert Roberts
shit son WHAT? this is the first im hearing of this and i want to know more
William Bailey
why are you talking to this lunatic
Hudson Cox
"Sausage with He-Man Arms" guy here. She hasn't replied in a while. It seem she ran off for now.
Daniel Russell
Were actually
Leo Reed
I want Holla Forums to leave an stop their shitposting.
Zachary Baker
wait there's a Holla Forums?!
Easton Hernandez
Hey look, it's that guy that says christcucks a lot! Come on, do your thing! Tip your hat and say "Christcucks" !
