The first season is better then the ones afterwards becasue it's clostest to the books.
Some more or less unnessacry things are cut out, but the general story, the progression and the characters are straight out of the book.
Afterwards, when the show started to run out of source material and they had to write it mor eor less themselves, the decline started.
And the farther away they move from the books, the more appereant it became.

I really do not understand the appeal of his books. He's not very well versed at all in history or how medieval societies or cultures worked. He doesn't write fantasy or faery in the grand tradition like Tolkien did and his books are devoid of proper values. He doesn't even provide good escapism like the old pulp writers did nor edgelord porn as good as say Bakker.

The dying POV gimmick could have worked if he kept it to one book. Since it's a long ass series that kind of misdirection can't be kept up and as the story grows longer it also becomes more predictable. By now everyone knows who the main characters are and the other POVs just become filler.
