So, 9000/60 = 12.5 years of paying for site hosting. Maybe the dud should have sold Lain stickers like Kalyx, then a mountain of cash would have solved all the problems. The whole thing was a mess of poor management, unclear specifications, lack of skill... the dud was never a great admin, he just got help from others. Its like Kalyx, some faggot downliads some free imageboard software and hosts it on a $20 per month server and everyone buys into this cult of personality, lol u so random! when ever the site admin makes a post. What Infinity Next taught me is that chans are, by and large, dead. The operators of chans are in it solely for the advertising dollars. Jim Watkins is having his lifestyle of banging Flip hookers paid for by your clicks, and the content isn't even good. I get to go on Holla Forums and read about a bunch of kids reacting to the decay of their societies but nobody ever actually does anything about it. Try that for a decade, not exactly an uplifting thing, to basically be a passive observer as everything goes to shit and the world is happy watching MSNBC. So Holla Forums is worse than cuckchan /g/ these days, and even /a/ is unamusing and stale. No new content. That is my biggest complaint about 8ch and its derivatives, a lack of OC. The vast majority of any chan is comprised of lurkers, and these lurkers have shit opinions and no OC. Alright, I'm pissed off, asking me what's wrong with the software has gotten me thinking about what is wrong about even more, I'm off to wack my penis on a board and thrust it into a bag of rice.

In all civilized countries it is not a crime to simply view cp. It is a crime to STORE it. This is a legal move the law-makers had to take because making it illegal to simply view cp would by definition be thought-crime, which is incompatible with democratic values. The current laws are the way they are to evade this incompatibility. It is never illegal to view a photograph of illegal activity.

Now, what you have to understand technically is that there is no difference between actively right clicking an image and selecting "Download" and simply viewing the image in your browser. Technically you're downloading the image just by viewing it – otherwise your computer would not be able to display the image, it needs to fetch the image before it can display it. But media files that you've simply viewed, not "downloaded", are stored in your browser file cache. Depending on your legal jurisdiction, it may or may not be illegal to have illegal media in your cache. So you should take precautions:

Find out if LEO in your jurisdiction have the power to force you to decrypt your disks. If they don't, then all you need to do is use full disk encryption on your disk and never leave it turned on when you leave your home. You should always use full disk encryption and not file encryption, as operating systems usually leave metadata and strings all over the disk. A widely used password recovery technique is to use a program to scan the entire disk for strings and then use these strings in a dictionary attack. So don't [just] use file encryption. Almost all Linux distributions offer to perform full disk encryption in the installer (You should not use Apple/Windows systems if you are about your privacy). But if you refuse to use Linux, then use Apple. It's at least not as bad as Windows, though it's still bad…

An easier, more effective way of avoiding that particular problem is to not store your cache on your disk in the first place. Disable your cache, or mount the directory as tmpfs.

This is the one good idea. It's good software that needs a bit of love and solid servers. Josh can't be the one asked to fix it cause of lack of technical know how/ straight incompetence. On good servers with a bit of fixing it'd be greatest of all time. If we do a fork and have a chan going on infinity next, I'll glad contribute to that. I can probably quickly fix a few things that his software does that are retarded (auto updates, etc.).
