is it good ?

>>637599438i'm dumb as shit and can't play games that requires strategy

>>637599438Too dark. Is there a lightest dungeons yet?

im playing black reliquary insteadcurrently trying to figure out how to defeat the enchantress and her 50 damage + blight crits

>>637599438I tried to play DD1 and met an enemy that moved my frontliners behind my casters. I then uninstalled it and never looked back.

>>637599438because that lung dragon fucker took me 3 hrs to reach and he killed my squad bc we couldnt do enough damage

>>637599803just move them back to the front

>>637599438Can someone explain me what is happening in the video? I don't understand

Waiting for it to leave the beta (which somehow continues past release but oh well)

>>637599803Use Move Resist trinkets. Use teams where members can be useful from any rank.

>>637599863turn 5 seething incel (aka monarch leper hater) gets DESTROYED without giving a shit about the lung mechanic.

>>637599618Seconding this.

stress management killed the game for me, the game forces you to have multiple squads you alternate between to manage their stress levels after a venture, im not bothering with that; wish I could just spam a single squad foreveris it better than the first one also?

>>637599438last thread was made three hours ago... how much do you gain by shilling this shit?>inb4 funsure, sure.

>>637599438I finished it months ago during EA when they had just one final boss, that brain thing, and did it in less than 10 runsIs it better now?

>>637599438I am BUT it is a bit long for a roguelike. A run can take hours and it can feel a bit annoying to ace the run just to wipe at the boss because you aren't familiar with the mechanics of it yet. Or because your lineup happened not to be good at dealing with that particular boss. I also dislike the memory shrines for unlocking skills, takes way too long, they should've unlocked the "classes" for the characters instead IMO.

>>637599438I already beat it and unlocked everything sans a couple cosmeticsI'm waiting for additional content (like the Collector), as well as public apologies from red hack for boss 3, not including crusader, houndmaster and musketeer

>>637600030It's fun.

So what is the story of DD2? The "crew" is there to stop apocalypse riding on carriage but why? I mean 1st game had story line to follow that the estate just calls in dregs and failures that delve into the corrupted forests and coves for loot and end up uncovering eldritch horrors and shit the ancestor was up to.

So.... What's now? I can't do a fucking thing.

The final boss was such a fucking joke just bring stress heal and you cab beat it with anything

>>637600989He will do an AoE attack and then you'll get released.

>>637601137It's meant to be a victory lap, same as the final boss in the first one.

>>637600928Everyone is sad. You have to make them happy.

>>637601201I've already figured it out.He just used a basic attack 3 times before that for some reason.

>>637601340Crusader canonically died in DD1.

>>637599438Because I don't like the game.>>637599618>>637600007Honestly the shortest way I can describe the main issue is with picrel.>no dungeon crawling>insanely long "runs" (it's a roguelite)>no character identity (character death means insanely little compared to DD1)>torch level is now a game-over mechanic rather than something you should fear or count on>the town between runs have been reduced to like a pit-stop instead of a refuge in a sense, with only one (1, singular) material you can use and everything is either useless or overtunedThe only good things I can list are how great the animation looks (which is actually bad because now modding is killed outright, as the whole reason the modding scene in DD1 was big is because there weren't many frames to draw). Also the hero specific backstory fights are real good, but these are over way-way too soon and doesn't really need any thinking. In short: it's a roguelite game that ranges from okay to nice, but if you play it like a Darkest Dungeon sequel it's well beyond bad.

>>637599438not playing till you can mod the gay out.

The second and third bosses are way overtuned and tremendously unfun to fight. Damage over time classes are basically unuseable against them, but there are so few skills that deal direct damage against back ranks. Especially the act 2 boss is irritating because missing a single attack has the whole fight end almost instantly. I just don’t think it’s a fun game to play, which is a shame because the presentation is amazing. The animations and flourishes are so well done and snappy, but if I have to see another gaunt again them I’m going to pull my own dick off.

Finished the gameFighting system is vastly supieriorAnimations and models are objectively greatUnlike dd1,thers 0 interaction with the curio which really takes away from the expierience Story, climate, narrator voice lines are all inferior to the dd1

>>637601413Nice cope

>>637599438im not gay. so here have a little bump so you and your little gay friends can have a good time.

>>637599438I probably have high thousands of hours of games in my backlog, user. I can wait till it's ten bucks.

>>637602542>>637602542Just pirate it, it's DRM free

>>637599438because I don't care about roguelikes, especially ones like DD that are double timewasters

>>637599438It's very fun though it does lack replayability at the moment, there just isn't enough enemy variety. Adding region-specific creature dens plus more universal enemy types would go a long way in making it feel less samey.>>637602403For crusader to have canonically died to the heart of darkness there needs to be another dead character.

>>637599438>woke shitFuck off.

>>637602403I have still, to this day, never seen one shred of proof that crusader "canonically" sacrificed himself anywhere outside of one shot of his helmet in the end cinematic to DD2. That's such a gigantic stretch that it makes one wonder which one if us is coping. And one more thing, who was, "canonically" speaking of course, the other sacrifice?

>>637601612This 100 + no more interaction with the word via curios and confiusing and uninteresting story which barely is there in the first place

>>637603634Do you like to spending a turn not attacking any enemies to prepare stealth, just so you can do 50% more damage on an attack next turn and if you don't have stealth you're just a shittier Wanderer?

>>637603818Wait, why did they remove curios?

>>637604003Ah fuck, wrong thread.

Attached: 1684422347893433.png (762x1180, 587.12K)

>>637604072Because players in DD1 just tested each curio 1-2 times or looked up a guide and then ignored 90% of them anyways. There's a reason why the most popular mod for DD1 just flat out tells you what a curio does. It's mindless busywork. The rest of his argumentation is similarly disingenuous.

I don't like its chapter structure and I don't like the boss design. I hate how you have to build your team from the start vs a certain boss instead of growing your party through the road fights that are supposed to be attrition fights but instead are mainly stall fiestas where you recover as much as you can.

>>637604035>Do you like to spending a turn not attacking any enemies to prepare stealth, just so you can do 50% more damage on an attack next turn and if you don't have stealth you're just a shittier Wanderer?

>>637604296Curios were fun and added an inventory/resource management aspect to the game. Rather than outright remove them, why not just rework them and make them better?

>>637599438>Pozzed Dungeon 2: The Wokeningno thanks

Attached: frog43.jpg (310x310, 20K)

>>637599618They changed the management aspect of building the hamlet into a roguelite where you unlock trinkets/items/stagecoach upgrades. The only plus side the game has against DD1 is the grind isn't as awful, but the world building isn't the same sadly. They decided to add more bullshit RNG too via relationships that if you fuck those ups after your first region out of 3 you might as well end the run and start over.

Attached: 1653185731200530.png (250x263, 107.76K)

Sleeping general is absolutely raping the asshole of my hel-maa-hwm-ves wat do

>>637604296I was one of those players who didn't look up guides and tested everything through the blood of my heroes. It's honestly more fun than having everything handed to you desu.

>>637604513Don't fight him if you can't target row 4

>>637599438>dude tentacles lmaoLovecraft had disastrous consequences for modern culture.

>>637604406>Curios were fun and added an inventory/resource management aspect to the game.No. Everyone ignored them after the first few runs.>>637604526And did you engage with the "system" any further after testing it for a bit?

>>637604513all four of those units can hit the backremember that when you hit the root, it takes roots down to 1 (even from 3)remember that the soil stirs only triggers after the root has been hit twice this cycle, so you can hit once, wait a turn, and hit as many times as you need the next turn to take all roots down to 1

>>637604494>They decided to add more bullshit RNG too via relationships that if you fuck those ups after your first region out of 3 you might as well end the run and start over. There are several ways to directly and indirectly manipulate the system. Inn items are plentiful and easy to come by. It's not pure RNG at all.

>>637604596I 3/4 can target back line but with 2 attacks per turn on the vine the damage and stress just get overwhelming

>>637604406>Curios were funThis is such a horseshit lie and I actually prefer DD1 over DD2.

>>637604654>>Curios were fun and added an inventory/resource management aspect to the gameLol,youre probably one of the shitters that cried about muh grind, rng and how game is too hard

>>637599438I am. I just lost PD and Flagellant to the Shambler. I'm pretty mad because it was just a series of 30 damage crits in 3 turns in a row.

>>637604975>muh grind, rngThis but unironically. Grind and RNG are the things that got massively improved in the sequel.

>>637604975DD1 is easier than DD2 precisely because you can grind.

>>637605045My only and biggest complain of the grind is the hero altar grinding. They should've moved the cool trinkets to altars and skill unlocks to candles

>>637603291Alright, that is actually a good choice seeing as he's confirmed not getting added, same with the abomination but the abomination and crusader can't party up so it wasn't him.

>>637604654>And did you engage with the "system" any further after testing it for a bit?If by that, you mean that I didn't just ignore curios I've come across then yeah absolutely. If I meet something new I test it with a hero I don't mind getting some bad shit happened to him/her and when I properly understand what a curio does I can rely on it when needed.>inb4 b-but you can get stress or sicknessof course, but the game is about being prepared to everything the game can throw at you. If your hero can't handle a little stress from a curio he/she is probably going to perish in the next few rooms anyways. You observe, adapt then finally exploit it. The game isn't pulling any punches and you shouldn't shy away from using anything and everything at your disposal to strenghten your roster. Even if you get a disease, you can just treat it in a week at your hospital back at the village.

Attached: 1636300071244.png (863x836, 343.28K)

>>637604764You have to buy every single whiskey and playing card you come across to keep the relationships high and interacting with some events will cause them to hate each other sometimes, even more than whatever you would gain too since you get -2 to relationships if someone doesn't agree with a hero as opposed to getting the +1 to relationships if two heroes agree on something. It is complete bullshit, you shouldn't have to dump all your relics on constantly buying every whiskey and playing cards you come across, it's basically a mandatory buy. And if you get a single meltdown their relationship drops by 3 for everyone. The game is too reliant on the relationship mechanic because it can make or break a run.

Attached: 1670959301176802.png (574x409, 250.11K)

>>637605169There's only a handful of curios dude, after a dozen runs you've seen everything they have to offer and after that you either use one with the correct item/hero or you don't, there's zero thinking involved.

>>637605269>there's zero thinking involved.Deciding whether or not to interact with the curio added another layer to the game. You might be able to get some more loot but you would lose a valuable item (Antidote, Bandage, etc.) and in order to get that loot you might have to sacrifice some of your current items. Basic resource management mechanics.

>>637605217>You have to buy every single whiskey and playing card you come across to keep the relationships high and interacting with some events will cause them to hate each other sometimes, even more than whatever you would gain too since you get -2 to relationships if someone doesn't agree with a hero as opposed to getting the +1 to relationships if two heroes agree on something.Yeah that's called managing a system, cry about it.>It is complete bullshit, you shouldn't have to dump all your relics on constantly buying every whiskey and playing cards you come across, it's basically a mandatory buy.Gold is there to counterbalance what the game throws at you. This is why it's a separate currency to begin with.>The game is too reliant on the relationship mechanic because it can make or break a run.The game punishes you for fucking up, correct. Now go back to DD1's "systems" where you either do something that always leads to a bad outcome or something that always leads to a good outcome, truly engaging game design.

>>637603664She competes with heroes like Highwayman, Occultist and Hellion as a dedicated damage dealers and requires more setup to reach her damage potential like combo tokens. You can make her work but why would you if there are alternatives that aren't that dependent on getting good trinkets.

>>637605269Yeah, there is zero thinking involved if you just look up a guide that tells you what each curio does. Once you know what they do, then obviously you don't need much to think about it.That's the fucking point. You think about it while figuring things out in order to save you the trouble later.

>>637599438I don't hate myself, and I value my free time. Those are the reasons.

>>637605045>This but unironically. Grind and RNG are the things that got massively improved in the sequeAverage run in dd2 is 2-3 hour longIn dd1 its 30 m at most

>>637605413>Deciding whether or not to interact with the curio added another layer to the game. You do it once, find out that you need a certain item to not get fucked over and then only interact with it when you have the item. There's no decision making here. You either do a loot run or you don't.

>>637605498And my point was that you can figure it out even without any guides after a handful of runs. It's not as variable or engaging as you make it seem.>>637605519>playing the game is grindlollmao

>>637605626I dont know what that guy's previous replies is, but the image he posted looks completely reasonableThe only silly thing is the different character builds because DD1 really doesnt need that. Black Reliquary would actually encourage him to have characters with highly specific quirks and religions

>>637605771Considering it's a boss that is almost entirely immune to stuns/blights/bleeds/fire/movement, is it really a surprise? Fuck me, acts 2 and 3 are such ball breakers with zero clue as to what heroes and skills you need to fight them.

>>637605623>>playing the game is grind>lol>lmaoYes,why do you claim so?

>>637605898I've only posted this image once in a thread before, so unfortunately you're incorrect. If you don't want to answer my question it's fine, but your implications are unwarranted.

>>637606019you can carry the same character from act 1 to 5 in dd2. it absolutely matters if he dies

>>637605771It's no wonder that all the anti-DD2 posters get filtered by the game because they can't just grind their way to victory like in DD1.

>>637606195His answer will boil down to "my headcanon makes me sympathize more with these faceless drones I use for my dungeon grind than with proper characters that remain constant across different runs". Like I said, same thing happened before.

>>637606232You can't grind on Stygian.

>>637606232I suppose you beat entire dd2 without spending candles and unlocking hero shrines yes?

>>637606436The vast majority of DD1 players never even touched Stygian and you know it.

I'm dreading having to face the eye later todaymy comp is occ, GR hwm and leper. I dont think I can get leper to eat all the eye tokens. I'm cooking up a strategy that will have both GR and leper eat the tokens and then tank phase 2. my leper is basically immortal, and GR has 3 uses of a skill that heals and gives ×3 dodge+is this a good idea?

>>637605217>The game is too reliant on the relationship mechanici've only done 6 or 7 runs but this seems true. i had a shitty squad barely make it through the first map but slowly discover the power of friendship and by the brain boss all of them had at least 3 skills that were buffing teammates so they won easily.meanwhile my good comps with good items were getting filtered there.

>>637606492You can beat the entire game with just Wanderers, yes. Not that it would matter for the argument, since shrines are not a "grind" and neither are candles, unless you're a huge shitter who ends his runs every time he has collected some of them.

So, like, is DD2 all take place in some kind of immaterial plane where emotions and fears are made manifest?
