I think this actually makes more sense than pic related since most male comic fans wouldn't buy statues like this. There are some that would, obviously, but the majority would either be embarrassed to buy/own them or would get offended because they're fedora-tipping redditors. The only people who'd want them would be collectors or /a/, and /a/ hates comics.

Women on the other hand like hunky boys and are much more likely to buy a figure that features Richard "The Dick" Grayson's boyish handsomeness and toned body. This is just DC cashing in since some executive finally heard what people have been saying about how to actually get women into comics.

I think it's a case of DC knowing what they're doing, porn artists usually have a good grasp on anatomy for obvious reasons.

I feel that DC is itching to publish actual to God-honest pornographic comics starring their characters. They already tried something like that during the 80's with their Mature Line.

So they're hiring all the porn artists they can to think-tank that shit up.

The bigger issue was that they were trying to appeal to weebs when they didn't know how.

What they should have done was create a number of romance comics featuring superheroes, or something otherwise supernatural that was set in the DCU. Then get a good artist, possibly a female one, to draw the male characters like Greg Capullo has been drawing Bruce and his respective adopted sons: masculine but non-threatening. After that, just throw in some drama, heartbreak and fanservice and you've got an instant hit.

The Ame-Comi were bad quality statues designed by an american artist and the comics that tied to that were all illustrated and written by DC's known writers and artists, most of them very mediocre. So the whole thing was Japanese in concept only and very badly so.

Now look like they're actually giving bunch of Japanese freaks the rights to their characters so that they… i don't even know, man. This shit is gay and problematic as hell. They're going to produce a sexualized statue of a underage Robin sticking his ass out.

If it were Stephanie Brown you wouldn't have a problem with it (although I'm not technically sure if she was technically underage during her time as robin).

I don't really have any issue with this since it's not canon or anything, it doesn't affect my enjoyment of the characters. It's just a line of statues.

Now if they were to make Dick/Tim/Damian gay or something, THAT would rustle me pretty badly.

They sell pic related in my local comic book store. It's fucking hilarious. Actually good figures cost upwards of $300 but you can get an equally amazing Japanese figure for $30. But this shit Conan is being sold for something like $20.
