I would say once 2006 hit, with smartphones for the masses, we are having some serious trouble.
Schools now tell parents what they can/cannot put in their kids lunches. No more play time because muh lawsuits, no dodge ball, kids getting expelled for self defense. Oh and don't let the kids touch a teacher, no hugs, because everyone if fucking afraid. If you ask the current parents with kids in schools, why would you not fight the schoolboards over the lunch issue? I don't know OP. You might be well-informed and know better than your peers (or even a lot of adults) regarding politics; however a lot of people don't even make an effort. For someone that's 18 it's impossible to have a lot of perspective on politics. Even someone who's relatively intelligent and bothered to watch the debates simply wouldn't have the as much context on some of the things they're talking about.
Besides all that most of their political views are probably the result of their parents in some way, whether it's a desire to contrast or conform. Plus if you're in a real nice are (I haven't spent that much time in Yonkers but I think they have some) then Clinton might even represent the best interest of those in your area better than Dump.
