I'll start. I work as a sales associate paid $8.50/hr. In reality I am a forklift driver, data entry, salesman, sales associate, designer, and general laborer all at once. The effort involved for the work is not at all proportional to the pay.

Im in the US. Been looking for a decent job since March. Got the job in OP in May. I can do web development, drive a forklift, program, I have even started my own volunteer program it failed but I still pulled it off which counts for something. No one calls back, and attempts to follow up prove unsuccessful.

Just keep looking. At 22 you've got a pretty broad market of jobs open to you. Network around a little too - hang around some bars, play some golf, join a gym.
I think at the end of the day, you're just getting taken advantage of and you've got a shitty job. Don't feel like that's the only thing out there. People get taken advantage of - it happens, but you've got to just keep at it.

I got my current job through one and have been hired by the company and received multiple promotions and raises since then. Temp agencies just fill positions with anything (even people who can't fucking speak English), because that's how they get paid. It isn't hard to stand out and get noticed.

I do medical transport specifically stretcher transport, bringing people to appointments, home from the hospital, etc. $11.50/hr in Canada.

You get SSI also if you're work history pay is shit. You generally get a minimum of 900~ish a month right now due to SSI, which is pretty much still shit.

With SSI you can work though. Do a few side jobs a month and you're over the $1000 mark, which isn't bad if you're getting housing assistance and stamps.
You can work on SSDI, regardless of whether you receive SSI or not. You're just subject to SGA limitations, substantial gainful activity, which is 1100~ish a month or so. You can actually make more than that if the consecutive months don't exceed the trial work period requirements.
It isn't hard to do well if you're on the dole. Pretty sweet fucking racket.
