The whole thing seems pretty simple in execution and concept, especially when factoring in how other "magic" both real and fictional is purported to function.

"Magic", according to the human definition of it, is a term that encompasses all known or theorized methods of affecting reality directly through either your willpower alone, a group's collective willpower or using another entity's will as an amplifying relay of sorts for your own. Magic in all forms is essentially technology's poorly-understood cousin, as both tech and science are means by which humans alter reality and circumstance for personal benefit, but magic has the distinction of requiring far less complex methods to function, outside the most powerful kinds available to lone individuals.

In any case, from basic nigger-tier magic like voudou and fortune prediction, to the really crazy shit like our own meme magick, all magic is just humans bitchslapping reality with their own willpower hard enough to change it, even including "psychic" capabilities that come off as much more science-based than they really are compared to other magic. Humans will it, and if they will it hard enough with the right focus and knowledge of how this process works (which is where the well-known trait of old, bearded fantasy wizards to study like motherfuckers and meditate like monks all day comes from), the fabric of reality as we know it gets warped just enough to fulfill the desired outcome, although the bigger the change the more it must be warped, and reality's a stubborn cunt in that regard.

Meme magick specifically is a type of communal magic, similar to cult rituals and ancient festivals where large groups would gather and focus intently on a desired outcome together despite being so different individually (such as demanding rain/better crop growth, because everyone from high king to lowest criminal benefits), except modernized and using the internet as a means to organize the commune's thoughts over vast distances. With the internet, it ends up being akin to a fleeting hivemind that ebbs and flows in and out of existence, but with no queen to override the drones so they can both work together and retain free thought. It worked in many instances before the internet too, from Roman shitposting on the sides of buildings to every ancient religion imaginable, but the internet is the strongest means of its spread we've ever had, and probably will have until something even more powerful like direct mind-to-mind communication is invented.

When a cause or desire worthy enough of gaining the attention of the many arises, it doesn't matter what they're doing or thinking individually, if it is a cause or desire they share, they will turn their attention to it and take part in the communal ritual. This is helped by the fact that these "rituals" are extremely-short, simple and to-the-point, with no convoluted superstition or rites to muddy things or allow their corruption into a cult of personality. There's also no identity for any of the worthwhile individuals taking part, which kills any interference from the ego and self-centered foolishness. All one has to do to participate is to hold the desire or cause in their thoughts more than not-at-all, and quickly participate in the spread of the thought by discussing it casually or posting short, catchy responses as asked by a visual incarnation of the thought itself. This may not sound powerful as-is, but when you have thousands of people contributing just a little bit to the ritual, you end up with a similar effect as asking for $10 from 100,000 people individually.

During the initial surge of meme magic usage on Holla Forums, we were desperate and in great need of a new weapon to fight our enemies with, already strongly-willing our enemies' demise and our peoples' return to glory but without the focus needed to impress these alterations upon reality. Desperate men in desperate times who don't crack under overwhelming long-term pressure tend to have much stronger wills and desires than any other, and when you hand those men a weapon that feeds off their joined willpower, that weapon will prove frighteningly-effective as they use it together.

Other groups could possibly reach our level of effectiveness, but that would likely require hitting our level of disillusionment, desperation and desire for change as well, which is easy when you're well aware of a malevolent group doing its best to kill off your entire kind and in great need of a means to stop it, but much harder when all you want is something unusual to stick your dick in and your life is otherwise passably-decent. This doesn't have to do with the justness of the motivating cause, so much as it does with the amplifying effect that desperation has upon willpower in difficult situations, provided the desperate individual already has strong enough will to not cave and give up like most people do. Provided such a group did acquire such desperation, or alternatively acquired great enough numbers and intent from each individual to offset this somehow, they could theoretically meme whatever they wanted into existence with enough effort, but the likelihood of this successfully occurring is extremely-low from how I understand it.

You could theoretically meme your fetishes into reality, given you had enough people contributing enough willpower, but unless you can match or beat a large chunk of disillusioned white men in their kind's 11th hour, yearning against all odds need for a way to beat the unrelenting extinction force bearing down upon them from all sides, unwilling to give up or give in until the last drop of blood spills from their bodies, you're not going to drum up enough energy to power your memes to the point of making a real difference like we do. Reality doesn't seem to care about the who, what or why behind the memes, so much as "how much you're putting into it" and "how badly you want it". If I had to guess, I'd say that the key lies not mainly in the study and focus (though they do matter quite a bit), but rather in the idea of a "catalyst" in the form of either a willpower and/or focus-amplifier, a tool that allows one to weaken reality's solidity long enough to manifest changes with ease, or a means of coercing an inhuman entity to do magic on your behalf.

The "catalysts" in question would probably be the kinds of things fantasy magic-users are always shown with: Wands and staves that act like radio-wave broadcast antennae but for human willpower, books containing incantations as well as loose ones in memory meant to boost will and focus which often are in languages whose only use is magic-casting so as to avoid confusion or focus loss, artifacts that are pre-imbued with magic by one with great power or many working in tandem to serve as a means of casting that's usable by anyone since it siphons from its own willpower reserve instead of the user's.

I'm willing to bet that these catalysts would be the key to individual magic-casting of that kind of strength, and that doing so without them would be hard as hell, if not impossible. The destruction of these devices as well as almost all knowledge on how to create more over the ages would certainly do a great job of killing off magic use and those who practice magic, in this case, which makes the concept of magic use being ubiquitous for ages until it suddenly disappears all the more believable. We certainly know of a (((group of people))) who'd love nothing more than to see such a powerful tool they'd likely lack the will and focus to use themselves destroyed, so that it no longer poses a threat to them and their materialist tools and aspirations.

Meme magick is certainly the most powerful magic we have access to and the ability to effectively wield at the moment, but who knows, we might just be able to find a way to use the other magic types in due time with enough effort. What is this? I saw it not long ago. I tripping on acid and went for my usual walk in the woods nearby. It was all fun trippy stuff that I'm used to, but something unusual happened in dark part of the forest. Its a damp place where not much light passes trough the branches. Bird calls die down, there are lots of mosquitoes, the ground is moist and trees have those odd tumors on them. There I saw it.

It was like someone had placed a mirror in the woods just little off the side of the road. At first I thought it was odd, you see weird shit on acid all the time. I was about to walk past it, but decided to stop. I was drawn to it. It surface was like reflection of cool, still lake with occasional tiny ripples. I pushed the surface with two fingers. It was like some sort of barrier. My fingertips were stiff after that, as if I had pushed against a rock.

Feeling of dread surrounded me as I realized that this was some really unusual hallucination. I suddenly noticed multiple mosquitoes had landed on my arms and legs and were biting me. But I ignored them. I was so intrigued by this barrier or mirror thing. I let the dread wash over me. Regained my feelings and focus. This time I swiped at it. My arm went right trough it like it was air. Nothing. I sensed a by passer coming down the road which snapped me out of my trance and at the same moment for an instant I saw what was behind the barrier. Just like in the image. Complete pitch black darkness and that eye. Bright yellow iris with pitch black pupil (don't really know if it's an eye, could be yellow ring but it felt like and eye to me). Whole thing was about size of a beach ball and was floating in the darkness staring directly at me.
