Joint Strike Fighter (F-35) -unofficially- crashed in the Netherlands yesterday during a showcase flight over various locations of the country.
As far as we can tell the media is trying to cover up the crash by stating that 'a Swiss plane crashed into an aircraft' - Aldo Schellenberg, Swiss Air Force, Bern.
According to the article: The Swiss have decided to no longer partake in the `Luchtmachtdagen` (Air Force Days). This crash is the first big accident within the ranks of Patrouille Suisse since its founding , over 50 years ago.
There was huge political resistance against he purchase (and development) of this craft, some 4.500.000.000 Euro's were poured into this project by Dutch politicians. Needless to say, this JSF has so many bugs.

it was an F5-E aircraft that fell down after hitting another craft. Media were very vague about the crash.
We bought 37 of 'those craft' We even had one politician murdered that was (openly) against this program. A little googling shows that political assassinations are very rare here.

First of it happened today, not yesterday. Second of the showcase for the new JSF jets over various locations around the country was days ago, so also not today or yesterday. The pilot was practicing for what we call the Luchtmachtdagen an event in which milliary, to be more specific the airforce, is open for public and they fly by and show off their jets. The guy was doing a stunt, lost control for reasons unspecified and crashed the plane while bailing out. They are launching an investigation and the Swiss decided not to participate in the airforce event. During the event you can look around the airforce base in Leeuwwarden, there are a lot of stunt shows and a power display show for the new JSF's. But this is not that type of plane.

I was against the purchase myself because it's stupid to buy your war equipment from potential enemies. We should build our own shit. However the arguments being brought against the F35 purchase by some politicians and the media are just plain stupid. Such as we could have put that money in healthcare/education or whatever is first of all false because the F35 purchase makes up a tiny percentage of the states annual income and how is better healthcare (which is already fine here btw) gonna help you when NATO falls apart and Russia decides to invade Europe because Europe thought they were so morally superior that they didn't need a military.
