I think you mean (((White))) civilization. As someone from a wholly white household in a rural community, I was taught to never take oaths and to uphold the family traditions as a matter of honor, not some magic oath taking words.
In my experience people who get trapped in oaths seem to be very literal minded and low level abstraction thinkers. Wouldn't it be better to explain how they can be free of their oaths, or make some more logical relatable symbolism? As it is now it seems like magic in a non-psychological sense.

Well, I'm not really against your goal. People get lost in all sorts of mental webs, not only oaths, and helping them break free of them is a worthwhile goal. It's not a fix though, because the underlying cause for their complex is still there, so it's a symptomatic treatment at best.
