Why is this pile of shit so popular?

Why is this pile of shit so popular?

Started out fine. But then got it's head stuck up it's own ass with trying to be deep, edgy, and weird all at once. Then I just lost interest. To why it's still popular? It appeals to casual readers who think they're deeper for reading it as well as the weirdo's into the aforementioned crap.

same as invincible, interesting start, then just dragged into nothingness

I've only seen bits and pieces of it. Is there a pretty clear stopping point if I ever check it out?

It's a comic for people who normally don't read comics - it is very simplistic, which makes it accessible to anybody, and hipsters who want nerd creed eat it up. Other than that, Saga is written and drawn competently enough, which is more that can be said of vast majority of mainstream American comics. It also isn't as ham-fisted as other comics that handle progressive ideas. Then you have press and fans praising it to high heavens, and morons who can't form their own ideas buy into the hype.

If you look a little deeper, you will notice that Saga doesn't leave you with much, is not very original, and that all concepts it uses were done much better many times before in all media. World isn't fleshed out, and story just bounces around randomly, but never goes anywhere. They also overuse crutches, like people getting shot mid-sentence, vulgarity out of nowhere, or "touching moments" that don't really mean anything and lack impact. Besides that, all the "maturity" of the series is limited to nudity, gore, and swearing. Meanwhile complex ideas like war, love, etc. are handled without any nuance.
Staples' art is sterile and it is probably the only comic I have seen, where characters look like they are in front of green-screened backgrounds. She also doesn't know that much about composition and perspective, which leads to most panels being rather boring. Additionally, Staples’ art comes across as either very rushed or just unfinished.

There is nothing wrong with simple stories, but Saga and its creators have their heads up their asses. People think that it is something deep and innovative, while it is anything but.

I enjoyed it at first but then it started redoing plot points/not progressing story at lighthouse.
And it tries to make you root for horrible people.
Why the fuck should I like a drug dealer?
Why was Marko a bad guy for ages for slapping his wife who was taking drugs and not looking after her daughter?
Was the furry porn really necessary?

I read the first issue, and found it irritatingly smug and quirky. I think I'm just sick of that snarky Joss Whedon style in general.

I've seen this comic around, but I have no clue what it's actually about. Can anyone help me out?

2 hippy soldiers fall in love during war and escape and have a kid.
They gone on the run.
Parents get involved
They separate numerous times
They get back together
10 chapters dedicated to hiding in a lighthouse

That's it? Damn, I knew Vaughn was never good at plots but I never figured he would write something this bare bones.

But it's in space, has tits and swearing so it's revolutionary!

I swear every goddamn character in this book talks like a 16 year old, they constantly swear and they're super snarky.

Thank Joss Whedon.

Fuck I forgot about him, thanks for reminding me of Joss "I'm going to hit you, rather hard" Whedon.

Is the main part. Saga isn't high reading but is good enough to appeal to everyone, and is a great door-way comic. Especially since you can follow everything off the bat and nothing will get reconnected the second you put it down.
Also its subpar writing is still better than the shitfest that the big two put.

Ya know those SCP things? That sounds like it could be one of them: a comic book that rewrites itself slightly with each reading.

It was decent, but it was quick to become a tumblr comic.

What do you except from a book with bright colors and two gay characters?

The first thing you see is the birth of an interacial baby. It was Tumblr all along.

Not to mention the hipster lesbian ghost.

I remember the "Women always take the lion's share of pain in war…" line infuriating me to no end.

I really liked the bounty hunter with the talking cat.

OH WAIT HE FUCKING DIES ON SOME DRUG PLANET.

I really started to not care for it after his death.
