Are you posting from a vpn? Many sites, 4chan in particular, go to great pains to block posting from IP ranges associated with VPS hosters, VPNs, TOR, etc. I've consistently had that issue with VPSes but never from my plain home IP.

No I don't even have a vpn.
I got b& as always so I just restarted my router cleared cache etc and it worked for like an hour. But then I had connection problems and the site loaded really slow. Only 4chan, Holla Forums or jewtube was fast as always.
I've tried free vpns and proxys but they're all b& already(who would've thought that lol)

And now I can't post anymore. There's always the same connection error popping up and I don't want to pay for vpn services just for gookchan.

Yes and no. There's nothing inherent in an IP that tells you where it's located. I have a VPS with OVH in a French datacenter but the IP geolocates to Munich. The "hot singles in my area" are apparently located half a continent away.

If you look at traceroute, you can make an educated guess based on response time to ping and (more accurately) based on names of the routers you're hopping through. There are lists of IPs assigned to regional authorities like ARIN, RIPE, LACNIC, APNIC and AFRINIC but you can easily colocate IPs and have your colo provider announce your IPs in a datacenter on a different continent.

We do that at work for some gambling sites that want to use their own IPs despite those IPs being assigned by an authority from a different continent.

The short answer is, not *really*. I'm guessing it's the IP range you're currently on that has ended up in some blacklist somewhere. Restarting your router gives you a new IP, but it's an IP from the same range the ISP has set aside for that portion of their network most likely and bans are almost never on a /32 as that would be a total waste of time.

Many IP ranges are listed for purpose as in "used for end-user", "used for VPS/dedicated/colo" etc. This is how you can easily block large ranges of VPS addresses like anything in AWS because that's where most abuse originates (at least the abuse I see daily).

You can also end up in an "outbreak list" like senderbase for mail. There are similar lists that auto-list you if certain activity is spotted from that IP range. Typically an intrusion-detection device detects fishy activity (like triggering mod_security did in the old days) and the event is logged with the list provider. Depending on the scale of the attack or the number of reporting hosts, your IPs "reputation" can drop quickly and be flagged as an outbreak in progress and listed as such so all other users of the same listing service knows not to trust that IP for the time being. You're typically de-listed automatically after a period of non-fishy activity. This is one way certain types of botnets and ddos'ing is mitigated when you can't just null route.

This is how Senderbase/Sensorbase works but that's for mail. I've seen other lists for other services. I've even seen amateur lists using plugins for wordpress, phpBB etc. but these are small-time things that appear and disappear quickly.
