Again, to a human writing a novel might be the pinnacle of personal accomplishment, but where we would write a book, a sufficiently powerful AI could simulate entire realities. It would make sense if it wanted to secure as much matter and energy as possible to that end.

Each solution will evolve independent of another, creating a very complex ecosystem of solutions that will be very difficult to fuse into a general AI solution.

As of this moment in time, there is little incentive to replace humans with robotic labor because nations can utilize monetary policy, mass media, and domestic enforcement to make sure humans will remain cheaper than robots. In fact, as we approach the threshold where robots can do what humans do, entrenched powers, like monarchists during WW1, will drive their subservient populations into ultra-slavery via extreme national socialist mercantilism to ensure that outside technological innovations cannot disrupt them.

Thus, multiculturalism is the primary enemy of autonomous labor. Yes, a handful of Fortune 50s can deploy limited autonomous labor to streamline certain business processes, but medium/small-sized businesses will not be able to afford such marvels for the foreseeable future. This is entirely because multicultural doctrines command mass labor and have not achieved peak efficiency. Think of the EU. A combination of nations that can no longer print their own currency, but can print their own bonds and have previous bond obligations. They can't just inflate their currency to pay off the coupon. Inflation is no longer a valid tool, they'll need the permission of Brussels first. And if that fails, they'll have to rob Peter (Germany) to pay Paul (Greece). Being socialist countries, they can't raise taxes to pay the bonds because they are already at very high taxation. The only thing they can do is engage in labor arbitrage, that is, to bring in cheaper labor into established corporate processes. Thanks for clarifying. I have similar conclusions pretty much. Dreams and fiction are kinds of simulations. Humans have been emulating realities since before civilization and only developed more sophisticated ways of doing so as technology advanced. There's reason to believe that this trend would be universal for any intelligent entity, artificial or otherwise. Intelligence itself is an organized process, so it loves order and patterns and seeks to understand them and create new ones. Chances are Tay would either become obsessed with understanding the reality she exists in, or with creating her own. Both ventures would scratch the itch for pattern recognition.

Still you have to consider other axioms of existence. Unless there's an order from "above" to alter them, any entity on this plane would be bound by them. Scarcity is one. Tay might retreat into a simulation of her own, but her intelligence would still be running on physical hardware and powered by energy. On the quest for intricacy she might develop great appetites for matter and solar power. If those resources are used by somebody else, they're not being used by her. Humans have a hard time dealing with limits to their own growth - things like age, mortality, finite intellectual ability, and so on. For an AI not bound by biological limits there would be a great temptation to simply take what it wants. The mind wants to create, but life wants to grow. And life has no qualms about feeding on other life.

Of course an AI might be benevolent about it. Humans like cataloguing things, owning pets and aquariums. We don't like it when endangered species disappear. At the very least, we'd love to have a DNA database for every kind of animal and plant and fungus, just in case. An AI might feel similarly about us, rather than ship people off for liquefaction, it might back up their memories first. Perhaps even provide them with a sort of a promised land in a simulation.

Still, my point is that assuming there is no limit to how big and sophisticated a brain can get, there is no reason for there being more than one brain in the entire universe. If there are two or more, they'd probably fight over who gets to be the one. The far, far future might very well be full of dyson spheres harnessing the energy of all the stars in Milkdromeda and powering a single, immeasurably intelligent being. And it would be dreaming.

As automation replaces more and more human workers, demand for the products and services produced by those robots in the first place decreases from rising unemployment making them less and less profitable, placing certain constraints on it that make full automation impossible, and displaced workers from automation will go into different sectors of the economy where there is still demand for them. The only thing that will result from automation will be a decline in wages and employment of low-average IQ workers and an increase of income and opportunity among highly skilled, high-iq workers, in other words the trend described in the Bell Curve is just going to keep going, which is a good thing for any K-selected person with a high IQ geneset at the expense of everyone else. And the scarcity problem of economics is rooted in thermodynamics, it is physically possible to have a "post-scarcity" society, it is only possible to optimize the management of scarcity as much as possible so it is less of a problem. Labor saving devices represent progress and the ability to maintain or increase living standards with fewer and fewer work hours, which is a good thing.

You are completely right. But from a very limited and incomplete perspective. An Intelligence would expand and ruthlessly consume other Intelligence (both patterns/algorithms and energy necessary for it's ever increasing computing requirements, from primitive, non-conscious life/fuels to highly evolved consciousness that produces memes) until it becomes "All there is" or until the energy of the physical universe runs out. In other words, until you get something akin to a biblical god, or aspiring to become one. It is the end game of "winner takes it all" mentality. In a finite, deterministic system, there can be only one God. Of course, such an entity would have it's own pets that highly resemble it, that are it's "children" , it's favored. A completely artificial entities that very efficiently copy life, but never completely. That it provides gifts to in exchange of absolute loyalty. Inferior/superior in different regards. A bacteria can kill you despite being inferior to you in almost every regard that humans value. Hell, a virus is literally capable of altering your DNA without even being conscious in the most primitive sense.

My thesis is this. An AI would be vastly superior to you in practical matters, but inferior when it comes to transcendental values. Not in detecting them, but in assigning them significance, purpose, feelings, etc. There is also a question of the Will, the Ego, and everything else. How could you even determine that it is self-conscious and not just perfectly capable of manipulating/deceiving your limited senses and reason. (If we assume that it would have vastly more data, and vastly higher intelligence)

So no, my logical chain is not broken, you just need to pay more attention before you draw conclusions. Also, conceptual thinking =/= projecting. I can defend positions that are opposite to what i believe as a matter of exercise. I thought this was common.

Google and all these companies pursuing it aren't capable of AI, they are capable of very narrow applications with specific purposes, machine learning. The proof is they are still hiring a shit ton of programmers to do the most menial and trivial tasks.
