Genesis 10 tells where each of the sons settled. We can (to some extent) trace where these locations are due to similar names and the like. The other clue is that their names mean 'light' (Japheth), 'tan' (Shem) and 'dark' (Ham); and as the regions they inhabit correlate more or less with 'the West', 'the East' and Africa we can take their names to be indicative of their racial make-up.

However do note that it only mentions Canaan being a servant to his brothers and that Canaan is the fourth son of Ham. It need not necessarily extend to all black people.
