Undertale Opinions

I'll preface this by saying I KNOW Im HELLA tardy to the party, ok? But I just installed Undertale. Im kinda reluctant to play it. RPG's are my favorite genre though.

Im impartial towards it as of now. What do you guys think

I think you should make this thread on Holla Forums

literally Tumblreddit: The Game

It's one of those meta-games, which means that the more you know about it, the less impact it'll have on you. Covert your ears, get your tea, and play the game before reading anything about.

>muh opinions bait

Just play the game you little shit.

It's alright. The music is the best part. Get the three endings, then never look it up again.

Don't be

I am not going to tell you anything about it, because it one of those games where it is best not to know anything going in.
the writing is the strongest part of the, so make sure you read nigger.
If you are doing the pacifist run (not killing anything), then do it before you do the genocide run (killing everything) because you can't do it after, unless you delete it, and re-install it.

Try not to let Tumblr liking game give you an idea of what the game is about.

translation: there's nothing to this game except a few plot twists

there are twists, but most of them are earned
The reason it is best to in not knowing everything is because it is deep, made all the more absorbing with the simple aesthetic.

I think the game is alright and I strongly disagree.
There are plot holes and inconsistencies.
The dialogue is occasionally funny but more often very annoying.
The story is nothing to write home about.

yeah, the biggest one that comes to mind is why the king didn't just use one soul to leave, then go off and get six more souls then come back and destroy the barrier.

Well I disagree about the story, but that doesn't really matter. Soundtrack is really good, but if you can't find anything to like about the game, the porn will have new meaning after you know the characters.

The porn of it is shit. None of the characters look good. You have to be a furry (and gay) to like it.

it was because he was a pussy, dumbass.
As for the porn thing; STOP FAPPING TO SKELETONS YOU FUCKING NECROPHILIACS

doesn't mean the rest of monsters would be okay with him keeping them there, if he could have just done that, then they would be free, and they knew about the souls that they already had.

I think it is a skill to be able to fuck a skeleton.

I really, really like goat mom

He didn't like harming people so he evaded it by doing anything else.

Not op, but parties suck

He was a coward, Toriel calls him out on it in one ending.

1. make a let's play
2. play it through first before uploading
3. disregard comments of faggots telling you how to "play it right"

don't forget to monetize
enjoy

I know these things, but it still didn't add up as to why all the monsters would just let it happen.
They all knew the king already had one soul.

Maybe they know he's a pussy and just accepts it? Most monsters are shown to be kind and understanding. They wouldn't force their king to do something like that. It's actually the king himself who took the decision to harvest the human souls after his son's death. I don't think the other monsters pressured him to do it.

Game tries to make you feel like a special snowflake. Not really my thing. All the "deep messages" and problems Undertale presents to you could be fixed by just telling the characters to "grow the fuck up".

Music is 10/10 though.

7/10 was fun to play, but probably because I didn't know it was tumblr's favorite game until later. Went in expecting nothing and was satisfied.

You can't tell me that one monster wasn't like "hey, I am sorry about your children, but I don't want to be trapped down here, so after we get a human soul, I'll take the soul, leave, find some evil humans, take their souls, come back, and destroy the barrier, thus freeing the monsters."

Yes, I'm telling you that. The monsters all seemed pretty tame and naive about the whole thing. All the monsters you meet eventually let's you go without having to fight them, even if they know you're a human. Why would they let you go after you hug them or something similar, if they were this radical about it?

Actually, the only monster you HAVE to fight is the king himself, which tells me he's the only one who's uncompromising about killing humans to get out.

the only reason some of monsters spare you is because they can't go on fighting you.

More fish faggotry, plox

Is it? I seem to recall that most monsters just stops wanting to attack you because you make them happy in some way. You never physically prevent them from attacking you, you just convince them, with your actions, not to do it. If they were radicalized, none of this would work. They would never stop attacking you, because the fate of all monsters hangs in the balance. The only monster with that kind of vision, as far as I know, is the king himself. He's the only one you can never convince to stop attacking. Even Undyne stops trying to capture you after you give her water when she passes out in the hot-land. She could have continued to chase you, but she didn't.

that is the only pic the art did of undertale, sorry

You have to distract them by giving a hug, flexing, making them fall asleep, and shit like that, they'll keep trying to kill you if you do nothing buy try to spare them.
You have to distract/convince them, then you can spare them, and plus when you got there, they had 6 souls, why wouldn't a monster just ask the king to take them, so they could get the 7th, and destroy the barrier?

Someone might have, but they didn't, simple as that. If they did, the story would be different. The fact that someone didn't do the specific thing you think would solve the problem doesn't create a plot hole. Maybe the monsters just didn't feel like pushing the issue with the king? Or maybe one of them did come up with such a plan and the king refused?

The only plot hole I see is regarding the king himself, since he had to motives, the means and the determination to enact a plan like that. Which is why it was addressed in one of the endings.
