Spirituality is by definition the denial of worldly matters. It also eventually leads to misjudgements like "Weeeell science has shown that niggers are not really human buuuuuut maybe there is more to all of this and we should treat them nicely regardles???"

Being so smart, you should realise that the vast majority of people just aren't. Frameworks and guidelines help to direct those people in a certain direction, and since as long as we can remember religion has played that role - replaced in the modern age by a religion of state and ideology and a shunning of potentially purer faith frameworks.

Just finished reading a book on Stoicism, the only good thing about it is the encouragement of desiring honor, fortitude and not being a hedonist. Seneca wrote some pretty interesting stuff worth reading but Epictetus pisses me off every time I read his works, it's literally just: "if terrible shit happens to you remember to pretend like it's nothing, if you do that you're basically free." Epictetus is the philosopher of slaves and encourages a slave mentality.

Nietzsche's critique of the central stoic doctrine: 'live according to nature' BTFO out of stoicism. He said 'how can you not do that? why make a philosophy out of what you yourself must be?'
