Since the Baltimore chimpout, lots of leftists are worried about police brutality, and then there's controversy about militarizing the police force. As for Europe, the police are almost too afraid to go after criminals due to being accused of racism.
What is ideal for the police force? Because it's so touchy with everyone and especially in regards to whether they should be armed.

I've been pulled over twice in my life and written a bullshit ticket each time. One was for driving without due care and caution ("because I can't pull people over without writing a ticket") and the other was for improper equipment (there was a nerf football wedged against the back window of my car because my nephew put it there).

When I was a teenager, around… 15-16, I did some stupid shit and some police ended up called to my location where I was kind of loitering. They told me to leave and I refused, because I was being a smarmy little fuckhead. They asked me to get into the back of their car, and I refused because I was being a smarmy little fuckhead. They asked me if I was going to resist being put into the car, and I said "probably". They tackled me, cuffed me, and shoved me into the back of the car.
It wasn't actually that bad. They drove me to the police station (took about 30 minutes) and I actually didn't mind. Chatted with the younger officer a lot, made her laugh, had a decent time. They tried to guilt me about "wasting their time", but I pointed out that I wasn't the one who detained me. After a while they offered to take off the cuffs, but I said having them on makes for a better story.

Policing can only be as effective as the society that they police, if you have a chaotic, violent, corrupt society then the police are likely to mimic that. On the other hand if you have a peaceful, well-ordered and honest society then Police are likely to be more respectable and reliable.
It all comes down to the same central issue that we in the west face, the fallacy of multi cultureism and its destruction of cohesion in society.
Different groups of people rely on different types of government. A Somali who has snuck his way into Europe and has no invested interest in the community he finds himself in will require a much different style of policing than say a middle-aged family man whose family have lived in the town for 5 generations.
