A quick glance at Wikipedia says that after achieving independence from Spain, Mexico declared itself an empire lead by Emperor Agustin de Iturbin, who was ousted two years later, leading to Mexico being reformed as a republic.

That's about as close as it gets with independent Mexico. Maybe you could work something out during the colonial era but that's pretty messy history.
