The rpg-mode can be a bit grindy, the brawler mode is not exactly the best of its kind. But the boss fights are fantastic. It's also quite a lengthy campaign.

It makes you take an active role in the game rather than blocking endlessly because its near the end of the round. If you werent shit then you would realise you could just attack them and finish them off like you shoudl be doing in 90% of games. For the overdrive you can just hit them 3 times and it removes it. This game's combo strings dont last that long and almost everyone in the roster will be able to get a counter hit off to stop this. Coupled with the fact getting that hit often results in an entire attack string the 3 hits will be easily made up.

In that regard Versus is easier to introduce new characters into.But then again, they might just come as paid DLC characters with no relation to the story whatsoever. looks cool. not sure how it shakes up the current balance but some characters could have used a universal defensive mechanic back around launch for sure. pretty sure the backdash will just get OS to death but the overdrive pause button looks good and just depends if the shockwave afterwards is blockable or not/plus frames. Could be cool maybe? but game still needs rollback for us non-coasters/japanese

They clearly dont want the game to die and are interested in adding more characters from the main storyline/anime. But what I believe is that players think the game is good, just bogged down by price and a netcode covid proved really needs to be updated, especially with the success of Strive's rollback. VS seems to be on the back of player's minds, and they'll occasionally look for news of game updates and would actually come back if rollback gets implemented. Hell this game could only be getting updates until ReLink gets released and they'll either drop it cold turky or try to hard press the RPG fans to check out VS after beating ReLink for more content.

Overdrive sounds beyond busted. Get 100% meter, use OD, buffed in every way, still have access to your super, no timer on it so you have it forever unless you get hit. Literally game breaking.
