Second, Jesus's brother didn't start a sect that was killed off by the church… he was rather a founding member of the church… He founded the church of Jerusalem (which still exists today as part of the Orthodox church) and became the first Patriarch there.

The original Christians weren't "killed off", they formed a church led by the Apostles. We call this the Early Church, which later split into Roman Catholicism in the west and Orthodoxy in the east.
