The web is a designated shitting platform.

The fucking web sucks. I fucking hate the fucking web. Fuck you for reminding me how much I hate the fucking web. The web is a bloated load of phone-optimized spyware diarrhea which needs to die. Web fucking "development"? Fucking nuke the whole shit and let's start over with web 1.0.

Been reading pages on cat-v.org about keeping things simple and couldn't agree more.

Was surprised to see a thread from Holla Forums mentioned in the blog section, seems like the guy who ran the site stopped updating it though. Uriel's suicide seems more sensible by the day.

Pretty much this. These days, the web is little more than a surveillance engine used by the American Empire to collect data on as many people as possible. Not to mention spreading degeneracy through the Jewish pornography industry.

I miss mid-2000's 4chan. ;_;

It's pretty easy to make web sites that aren't a convoluted mass of jquery and front end frameworks. Developing KISS web applications is perfectly possible, it just takes a bit more of work most people aren't willing to go.

Already been done.

If only. Why do you think dedicated applications have been making a comeback?

This reminds me of the acronym I recently created for how Javascript should be used - MOLUSK:

Minimal - Don't do more than is necessary for the problem you are solving
Optional - The site should be usable without the javascript additions
Last Resort - Only turn to javascript if the functionality is impossible with html, css, or serverside code
Useful - Code that provides no discernible advantage to the end user should not exist
Secure - Code that leaves the end user more vulnerable to attack should not exist
Kosher (Oy Vey) - If you're embarrassed to show your code to peers then it should not exist

Next time you write javascript, make sure it's MOLUSK

Developing SPA here. JS is base of the pyramid

I understand the urge to present the user with minimal webpages, but never liked the idea of piecing together the view server side. It doesn't seem like there's any good option. At least with server side you can write in something other than javascript and don't have to deal with the DOM API.

It's not ideal, but the trend of secretly offloading computation for the user's to do needs to be stopped. If user's want to do their own computation it should be through dedicated applications rather than code they don't even realize they are running.

Secretly offloading computation? You make it sound like they're slipping fluoride into our browsers.

The way I see it, unless you have javascript disabled, you should expect that you'll be running javascript if you're using a javascript enabled browser.

I still think there's a better option, though. Maybe sandboxed applications instead of webpages for dynamic content. Of course, jewgle would have trouble scraping such things. Which is exactly why they got into the browser business and are leading web standards.

because your smartphone-using grandma can tap on the Youtube and Facebook buttons on the iPhone but she doesn't know how to enter a URL on the web browser.

Browsing the web is a rare technical skill these days. Don't overestimate the new generation of genius digital natives.

DESIGNATED

Amen.

I couldn't agree more.

Sounds about right.

Hey, look! A webpage!

That's not a web application.

You remind me of an autistic Christian I met once.

That's not even valid html5 shitlord.

How much Holla Forums gets hyper-autistic when someone brings up Web Dev?

Please please someone direct me to actual real world tutorial examples on how to use DOM or make websites. I'm so fucking tired of every site being this:

1. The most basic intro you can think, the basic tags and shit that everyone knows
2. The basics of javascript or a 2000 ton book detailing useless shit I don't need at the moment.

Where the fuck are the websites that will make me build an INTERACTIVE site from beginning to the end? Using advanced html, css and javascript DOM and maybe even something like mangodb. Where? The shit that codecademy does it almost useless, I mean you learn javascript from there but nothing to actually build anything, just to do calculations in the console and text functions.

There are so many tutorials for making software and games using engines, something from beginning to the end. But no tutorials that let you build something like an image board, or like twitter or facebook. I'd learn so much from that but I just get bored to death by inventing useless shit and looking up tags and functions for hours.

Those useless Javascript functions you've learned are the fundamentals of building shit. With a bit of creativity, you could build some neat stuff out of just the basics. As for building a social media site (Facebook, twitter etc.) there are tutorials floating around on YouTube that teaches you how to clone one of these sites. I've never followed one of these myself but they do exist.

Well apparently I need to know DOM to do anything useful, and then probably more to work on the database, and then more to use something like node.js or angular. Am I even doing it right by following random tutorial for these things that I won't remember it 100% or should I directly try to build an interactive website and look up things when I need it?

I've been doing codecademy courses myself. They are useful to help understand concepts but they're absolutely useless on their own if you do not use those concepts to build your own stuff. If you keep following random tutorials you'll just have a random assortment of information your brain can't see the use and will eventually discard it.

If there's one piece of advice I can give you it is to hit the ground running.

So basically... once I understand the basic concepts just move on and try to make some real project and look up information as I go? When I made simple games I had all I needed in one manual, it's a bit more annoying with web dev.

I would recommend grammar lessons.

Web design miracle

This.
DEPORT THESE STREETSHITTERS

The point is, whenever a Web Dev thread comes up on Holla Forums you've got 10 people polluting the joint by whinging themselves inside out about how everything was better in the 90s. It's such a fundamental misunderstanding of what Web Design is today; it's not what it was 10 years ago.

Web design will be all drag and drop in a few years anyway

At least do it right.
faggotYou are a faggot!Hurr durr.

Explain.

We need the minimal coding of the '90s with the UX design of today.

This world is a shit place and we fucking need a World War III...

Nigga, modern web design *is* drag and drop. Adobe Dreamweaver is basically Adobe Illustrator for web pages and it's for web artists who know something about design and jack shit about coding.

I'm hoping for an asteroid strike. 60 gigatons of purification doesn't care if your swastika faces left OR right.

Because web development was the sub-discipline of software development that went first and furthest down the shitter on account of being the storefront of the commercial internet. Web development is also representative of the rampant judaism of the modern web, which is why it's so irredeemably shit.

faggot * { padding: 0; margin: 0; } You are a faggot! Hurr durr.

Not seen that before, is it at all necessary?

No really all that does is tell mobile devices how to scale the page on to the smaller screens. So if your aiming for a modern responsive FE yes but other wise no.

I just started learning web development for a website I'm developing. My background is in embedded systems (C,/VHDL, splash of asm). Coming from that background where details matter down to the fucking bit, the current web is the biggest load of shit I've ever seen in all my life. The languages are pure shit and bloated. I hate OOP everything because OOP is fucking retarded for anything outside of graphics. Learning web development feels like I'm eating big steaming bowl of diarrhea.

you sure show em

Webdev is objectively cancer though

it isn't though.

you just call everything you don't like cancer

A site I frequented had an update a month ago, that overhauled a lot of the back-end, because their current system was too slow for the amount of users they had.
Thing is, they decided to make the entire site reliant on Javascript, "rendering" all the content from templates and AJAX requests from an API they created.

Of course, they didn't really do load tests, nor did they make sure a lot of the core functionality of the site worked. When people said the site didn't work with Javascript disabled (because all content was loaded in through AJAX), they replied with a condescending "working as intended".

Needless to say, they reverted their site within a couple days. (though the "programmer" let everyone know how upset he was, because of the time he wasted)

Or, you know, humans are natually sexual creatures; just like every other animal on earth.

Nothing is undermined and no society has been without pornography and prostitution. Repressing sexuality only leads to perversion.

Read the image he attached.

I have this mental image of hyrule from OoT where there's just this wall around the entire world and you can't operate outside of it.

Modern Web is Hyrule.

I've got a completely ambiguous context image that may or may not be completely made up and a rant from some faggot who's aparently never seen porn about cuckolding. None of that means anything.

Porn isn't made up of the things in the post and the people being referred to by it are not that way because of porn. An effective 100 percent of people jack off with well over 90 percent on a regular basis.

Theres that word again.

Which Jewish psychologist told you that?
