Having to use Windows for programming work is, to put it mildly, sub-optimal. But since I'm stuck with it, I might as well make is as tolerable as possible.

I installed msys2 and the Emacs package. I can do everything in Emacs (Gnus for email, Org for documentation, rcirc for chat/IM, MUD client, eshell possible but I actually prefer bash in mintty), and it works the same as on my Mac, Linux and BSD machines. "eww", the Web browser doesn't run Javascript well so you'll need Firefox/Chrome for that, but everything else can be done in Emacs. I also used Eric Schulte's literate starter kit, YMMV.
