When they say "democratic society" they don't mean what normal people mean when they use the word democratic. It has nothing to do with the will of the people. It is instead based on the UN declaration of human rights (which is in no way universal, as they claim, but a very limited Western secular humanist viewpoint).

If you adhere to this declaration of human rights, then you are "democratic," otherwise you aren't. That is why their form of democracy has this insane totalitarian character, because it is really just a value system imposed from the top by the elite, not really an organic will of the people as most would thing of democracy.
