While you can technically use second person, you might not be referring to the person that is actually going to use xFunction(), but its project manager or some coworker trying to help or document the program. The distinction is dumb and nobody will probably even notice if you use "you" as a pronoun, but if we are going to be pedantic then we might as well be as pedantic as possible.
