Krita is by far the best free graphics program out there, GIMP is shit by comparison.

there is only one problem: it doesnt seem to use GPU acceleration in a few areas so you get that slow "rendering" shit.

this should be top priority tbh. next should be a better text tool, which i hear theyre doing.

ill be using paint.NET until they fix that stuff, since it performs incredibly well on Windows

At least there's a progress bar now to show how far behind it's lagging, I don't remember that being there. And the 3.0 changelog says there's a low-res render option which probably does what you want.

The animation beta was 2.9, I didn't drink the koolaid though; goanna wait a few versions before I seriously play with it, as it'll probably change rapidly until it matures.

It's actually better from a security standpoint. If you log in from your X session or your own shell, and if your home permissions aren't paranoid tier, you might have contracted Internet AIDS after installing some shady program or getting your ass exploited by some 0day. Implementing a keylogger this way is as "easy" as adding a line to your xinitrc or your bashrc that calls the actual malware on start.

Needless to say, directly logging as root in a different tty would bypass any userland rootkits you may have.

I use gimp a lot because I'm to lazy to go through the hassle of pirating PS. This furshit program looks like its something different tho.

Krita is for painting
A lot of people use Photoshop for painting but it's actually meant for image manipulation

Krita is more focused on painting, but it has a lot of features that also work for photo editing. It even has some features that make it more useful than GIMP for photomanip, for example filter layers.

Probably worth mentioning though; even though it's meant for painting, Krita bends GIMP over the table on a lot of manipulation jobs. Mostly because it uses hardware acceleration to the hilt where GIMP is CPU bound in several nasty areas.

Things like Cage Transforms and Perspective are live with Krita where GIMP takes several seconds just to show previews on large images. Any brush-based tool (such as clone) also has Kritas superior brush engine behind it.

GIMP is only really better in the filter department, and I personally think most of the GIMP filters are pointless - who honestly has used "predator" or "Van Gogh LIC"?

And the whole animation thing, where GIMP is an animation nightmare Krita is getting damn slick.

I think Void only adds packages to the repo when they're out of "development" so early builds like this are often ignored. It's not meant to be "bleeding edge" like Arch, just rolling release.
