I hacked a website (Arbitrary file upload vulnerability, also had an SQL Injection) that receive a lot of visitors per day and made all pages redirect to "update.jar" which is infected. I am using Ratty RAT because it works on Linux and I don't know of any better ones. It's pretty shitty, however it gets the job done.

Can you share the source code?

Is it cross-platform compatible then? Would Linux get RAT'd by your .jar file? Or is it a .jar file that still relies on some Windows components?

Do you have a command-and-control server or can someone who can just upload files to a server and edit its files RAT people without having to setup a command-and-control server?

How exactly does that RAT work? Where is the infection file and where is the client? Also, can you monitor keystrokes with it? Like if the user is typing, can I see it somewhere? Or should I remotely install a keylogger as well?

It does infect linux machines however it doesn't appear to be persistent (still running after reboot)

It does launch on startup on windows machines.

The problem with RATs is the programmers almost always turn the client portion of the app into a RAT itself.

How?

RATs have two parts, a client and server. Programmers are jackasses and will make the client into a trojan too. That way they have the script kiddie and his victims computers under their control.

What have you been doing to keep from getting detected by AV? Do you have a crypter or something?

And do the victims reinstall/wipe their drive after you make yourself obvious, or at least run AV scans, or do they just not care enough to disinfect their computer?

I just kind of figured it out…just forward a port on your router, create a dynamic dns with something like no-ip and run the duc and build the server file
