Well. It's nice if you want a Gnome 3 experience. Gnome 3 by default is lacking and it can get much better with extensions though. I had a bunch of headaches trying to install software in Fedora, some things needed special repos and installers, some which just didn't work. I felt like I was kinda trapped.

A good operating system is you want to work station that that runs very new software and is relatively stable. The strict adherence to free software can make it inconvenient for most home users and is especially bad if you love gaymes. A lot of prominent emulators aren't even available in the RPM package format and the ones I managed to install didn't work properly.
if you're going to do more then coding or office work, you should look for a different distro.

Much too unstable and at least one thing is broken at all times.
Use openSUSE. Even if you get the rolling Tumbleweed it's rock-solid and never breaks.

Inconvenient as fuck. Way overly strict with the non-free stuff. Only useful if you share the same philosophy i.e. everything must be explicitly FOSS or else it won't be allowed, even at the cost of user experience. Pick a different desktop distro.

I have the "luxury" of non-tainted kernel on every machine i use.
Codecs can be a pain in the ass (there is Gecko, i know...). Yast2 is a bit slow on older hardware but still great and the installer is the best.

* Main workstation product is the GNOME3 flagship; spins are half-assed; inexplicably poor default software choices
* Earliest adopter of SystemD
* Birthplace of NetworkManager
* Arcane SELinux on fucking desktops by default; no alternatives
* No Grsec packages
* Bleeding-edge distro, suddenly advertising as a server and cloud solution amidst bizarre identity crisis, while desktop is left to rot
* Religious adherence to free media formats; all media and music software in main repositories are crippled; replacements in rpmfusion poorly maintained
* Can't keep a fricking sandbox utility in working state
* Repository server and package management tool speeds wildly unpredictable
* Dumbed-down anaconda installer missing key features (though not the only distro with this problem)

I tried it out a couple days ago (KDE spin), and it seemed pretty good, but since it doesn't support PPAs, I couldn't get the specific Nvidia driver I needed for my GTX750. The result was constant KDE5 crashing and freezing. I went back to Mint.
When Mint 18 comes out, by then hopefully I'll have an AMD GPU and I can decide between all of the different KDE5 distros, SUSE included.
