I hold up my end and the boss holds up his, he keeps finding projects and I keep completing them.
If either of us fails the company fails, if he acts like the workers should be kissing his feet he is going to be looking for skilled tradesmen that are in shortage in my nation.

tl:dr, get a skill and keep improving it, then you will never be walked over or threatened with easy replacement.
