I always ask them: Name one single thing that Trump has said in his entire lifetime that is racist.

First they will say:

And it's not as if you're going to reach an objective, satisfactory conclusion as to whether or not someone is a racist or misogynist or homophobe or Islamophobe or whatever other phobia people have invented.

Having that said, it's obvious that Trump is more than willing to marginalize people based on their religion and country of origin; however, he makes broad generalizations about anyone whom he disagrees with, criticises him, or stands in his way. And because of this, I'd certainly be comfortable with labeling Donald Trump as the epitome of a bigot.

At the end of the day, I wouldn't focus on any of these relatively meaningless, ambiguous terms unless somone is intent on simply calling someone a bigot and acting like this is a sufficient argument to rest on – and unfortunately, in the minds of many liberals, calling somone a racist is a perfectly reasonable way to win an argument.

Illegal immigration and terrorism are legitimate concerns, but I believe Trump is shockingly naive and wrongheaded in his approach to addressing them. There are 3 million Muslim citizens of the US, and we know what happens when they feel like their religion is under attack – what better way to convince those that may be on the fence about this than to ban Muslims? I believe it would only increase terrorism, and create even more anti-American sentiments. Also, the chances of being killed in a terrorist attack are infinitesimal, and you're being a gigantic pussy if this is a major concern. As for the wall, I question the efficacy, given the fact that ~40% of illegals come in legally… oh, and they already build tunnels… oh, and then there are ladders and ropes… oh, and then there's the cost which Trump grossly underestimates (>but muh great business negotiator).

The fact is, Trump is held to risibly low standards, and he can get away with responses like "don't worry, it's gonna be superfantasticextraordinaryamazing, and if you don't agree, you're a terrible person" or "I have a good brain, and I've said a lot of things". And I don't know how anyone could possibly reason with supporters who are comfortable with this level of hyperbole, deflection, and various other fallacies and lies.
