i haven't seen the movie, but from the webm it looks like the filmmakers were trying to use forced perspective to make it look like the rock was in front of vin diesel, but that might possibly just be an accident and their intention was not to deceive and they just wanted it to look like what was actually happening, that is, the rock standing further away from the camera than vin diesel

but, again, i haven't seen the movie and i can't read the director's mind so i don't know.

I know a lot of people like to shit on the series, but honestly speaking I really do enjoy them as simple little popcorn flicks. The camaraderie of Vin Diesel and Paul Walker always came through and watching them on screen you honestly felt the friendship between the two. F&F movies are fun, fast paced, and genuinely enjoyable flicks to just shut your mind off to and simply experience. They are stupid but that is okay. They aren't intended to make you really think. You just get to watch "big" guys act tough, cars go fast, and bitches waggle their asses.

Except Tokyo Drift. chinks got no asses and weebshit needs to die.

They did the same thing with mad max and dark knight rises. Using the angle of the angle of the shot, cgi and other hijinks to make him taller than what he really was.

OP rewatch the scene in the right context, they weren't trying to do LotR type scaling, the Rock's character was trying to be alpha by standing off to the side, you can even see in this webm that he is looking at Vin's character out of the corner of his eye.

It is obviously putting both of them in the shot, which would be impossible if they were standing side by side. They are actually standing further apart and the angle of the shot creates this illusion.

They're using forced perspective. Dwayne is to Vin's right (behind him from the camera's perspective) to make him look shorter. You can see this by how his head looks weirdly small and how he's slightly out of focus.
